One thing I love about the figment fights is how they're defeated, namely by refusing to indulge in what would satisfy that part of Asriel's personality until the figment cracks (in most cases, somewhat literally).
- Ego: Refusing to give it praise and deference and instead insulting it; which damages what it represents: Asriel's (quite literal) god complex.
- Possessiveness: Avoiding it, denying its displays of "affection", and criticising it for actually being a selfish desire to control and fit Chara into the neat little box Asriel wants to put them in (somewhat literally, as they had to escape their room with the punch card); damaging what it represents: Asriel's controllingness and cligniness, and overall selfishness.
- Fatality: Understanding it and giving it support and encouragement; which heals what it represents: Asriel's trauma and self-loathing.
- Emptiness: Refusing to give it a reaction; damaging what it represents: Asriel's cruelty and bullying (like a true bully, it says and does horrible things for a reaction "To see what would happen").
These methods also serve a thematic purpose, as they're not just having a cool fight with figments of the Big Bad's personality, they're deconstructing and disproving the very toxic and unhealthy views Asriel has developed about the world, a fact best shown by the Fiend of Fatality, as it is overcome by offering it support and encouragement instead of correcting and attacking its views, they come to understand it, as they do not need their ego to be brought down, they need it to be lifted up, and for them to be helped. And you can only help someone if they allow you to help them, which involves making them feel safe enough to drop the walls they've built around them so that you can get to their core.

I love that the Emptiness fight exploits the lack of patience that cause Flowey to go evil to begin with. If he was content to let time move linearly, maybe he could have met Frisk and all the possibilities they brought before he went down the serial killer route.
It also shows another thing about when he started murdering people, and even before.
When he'd given everyone their happy ending, he reset over and over to see what would happen depending on what he did. In other words, he insulted, ignored, and then killed everyone to see their reaction, kinda like a bully.
However, when the trio does nothing during the Emptiness fight, it gets angry and lashes out, with the detached, emotionless façade cracking as they deny it what it wants. A reaction.
@@sylvan-the-necromancerpersonally I really do like that's how they win this fight they exploit it's lack of patience by simply not giving him any reason to continue bothering them so he has to go out of his way to try and get them to do something like with his first few runs he was given a reason to do things differently in this case that doesn't work and I do feel like his lack of patience is one of the reasons why he just didn't try to turn over a new leaf in this new world because papyrus does have a point while they may be the same people with a different coat of paint they've been given completely different lives despite wearing the same skin as before so there definitely is a lot more potential there but due to floweys lack of patience he didn't even bother attempting and just assumed the difference was minimal which in his position was kinda fair but regardless it shows how deep the writing went with this story so much depth and character building it's amazing
Also, while he can't feel love... his obsession with Chara still seems to be more than what a truly empty creature could muster.
It's possible that, however faint, battered, and weak it was, there WAS a tiny spark of love still hiding in there. Perhaps it would take ten years, perhaps a thousand, but to me, it suggests that the soul is not what gives the CAPACITY to love, it simply empowers it. That he is a victim of his own time warping, running away from consequence and any form of lasting connections.
I do not believe he would ever have been as tender as he was once upon a time, even without the scars that death and resurrection left upon his psyche. But if he truly desired to be more than an empty shell, he had this option, he just refused to take the time to cultivate it
Lilac is reading Asriel like a book and I love it. She refuses to take any of his shit.

i get it, the reason why asriel is keeping lilac around is because it's what he needs, he doesn't need chara to prove him wrong, he doesn't need frisk to show him love, he needs someone new, someone whom he can't predict, to make him realize himself that he is wrong, lilac isn't trying to convince asriel to stop, she is just being blunt, and that is precisely what asriel needs

Yeah, Asriel just needs someone with a new perspective to his situation, someone who can read him like a book and hopefully convince this kid to look inside himself and realize how wrong he is and that he's going about this problem the wrong way.
The only issue I have with this is Frisk is extremely blunt towards Asriel. In fact, I think Frisk and Chara are two of the few people that he can't even read properly. Chara he might be able to read, but Frisk? Frisk might as well be a foreign concept to Asriel. You can kinda see it through how Asriel tries to justify his actions towards Frisk, where he believes that the "Real" Chara is the one he knew back then. Frisk changed that, thus it makes Frisk AND Chara much harder to read than someone like Toriel or Papyrus.
@@badtoken7130 in my eyes, asriel doesn't really think frisk and chara are unpredictable, in fact, he probably doesn't even acknowledge frisk's existance as a person, he isn't trying to predict them, and as for chara, he is adapting, i can't be entirely sure, but from what he said at the end, at seems he's fot something in store made for the "new" chara
With all that said, the only person in this equation who can't be predicted is lilac, the only reason she is here is because she is frisk's friend, asriel knows nothing about her, with the monsters, asriel has had a lot of time with them, and emptiness showed that he can indeed predict them, chara and frisk are people he is already acquainted with, and even if they were unpredictable, asriel wouldn't care
He needs someone to slap some sense into him, who won’t sugarcoat the fact that he’s in the wrong and needs to stop being wretched before it is too late and he’s left all alone, if it’s not too late already. And Lilac’s the perfect bitter pill to do so.
I like how the only reason Asriel didn't take Lilac's soul away again was to spite her predicting him too well. Guess it means that her words really were getting to him; previously he'd just shut her up for being so direct, but then here it'd just prove her right...
Asriel will probably change his tactics up to prevent her from predicting him
And yet, he still proved her point anyway: that he’s not above it all, and that he is not as invincible and unflinching as he claims to be.
His scared, vulnerable face at 40:12 says it all - Lilac word’s hurt him because deep down, he more than likely knows they’re true.
And him keeping her alive just proves that she’s striking a nerve.
Because the moment he’s not in control, the moment someone turns the mirror around and forces him to reflect on what he’s become, his facade instantly shatters and he shows what he really is:
A vulnerable brat who never learned how to grow up or move on from a past that’s now long gone.

The part where Papyrus calls out Undyne for lying to him really stood out to me considering how it was never brought up again following the date at her house. People usually assume that he’s not one to hold a grudge, but being in the Royal Guard is his dream. So yeah, it’s very understandable for him to get mad at her over something like this.
Something something. This bothered Dorked for some time now and this is a scratch for that metaphorical itch.
It makes me wonder if papyrus was still listening in to hear it in the original undertale. We know he was still there even after claiming to leave.

Missed opportunity to include my favorite head canon:
* Flowey has just reset again, and is found by Asgore. This time, he decides not to tell him he's really Asriel. Asgore says, "What is your name, little flower?" Flowey says, "I...don't... I don't have one." Asgore says, "Hmmm... Then how about we call you... *Flowey?* Yes! *Flowey the Flower!"*

Another headcanon I saw was that when Papyrus and Flowey got close to eachother Papyrus asked for his name and Flowey just tried every name before deciding on Flowey

All of this is explained in the game during Flowey's genocide monologue, but seeing it play out makes it hit so much harder. Just seeing how happy everyone is at first, how he goes out of his way to hurt them, and how they slowly shift into one-dimensional cardboard cutouts as Flowey gets bored of them.

I love how Lilac of all people is keeping Asriel on his toes.
And I have a feeling that big white dialogue text at the end could be Gaster, if he even has a proper presence in IF.
yeah it is gaster, you can tell since its all caps, sentences are often separated and the text glows like in the deltarune intro. the man isn't really important to this story though, he's just watching this unfold, chilling beyond time and space and asking the real ominous philosophical questions
Gaster is not that much of a character in IF, I doubt it.
Maybe gaster was controlling flowey from behind the scenes, maybe he planned to have something powerful enough the bring him out of the void, maybe flowey had a shared negative soul (a similar case with frisk and Chara but from the void). Who could really tell if my way of thinking would match the plans of the story, for all we know flowey could’ve been doing this whole thing on his own will. But considering of how flowey got to this universe, I doubt that it was by flowey’s will, but a will of someone much greater beyond the void.

Gaster is not in the void was never even said in undertale he got scathered in space and time mystery man and all the followers are just some parts of him and is not related to Asriel at all
He is like this because frisk died before he could begin to doubt what he was doing in the old timeline his lack of knowlege of how to use his godly power caused him to destroy the timeline on accident and instead of redeeming himself he doubled down
Gaster has no importance on IF outside of flashbacks
It's definitely whoever is speaking in Deltarune's intro, but it's possible that in IF's canon (and possibly even in Deltarune itself) that whoever it is speaking during the intro isn't Gaster.
Plus we saw the various fragments of Gaster at the end of the null arc, and none of them spoke like this. So if it is Gaster, it's a new fragment that doesn't appear in Undertale.
I'm a big fan of the new overworld sprites, especially Toriel's. They have more detail than some of the originals, and help this sequence better fit with Inverted Fate's style.
To further this, I love how the talksprites are just IF’s without the characters' IF-specific traits
...after one goes through a traumatic experience, it can be difficult to feel anything. I always had my doubts about Flowey's claim that he had no emotions, but this is the clincher. It wasn't the flower form, twas the trauma that sealed off his emotions relating to love.
Flowey *does* have emotions.
He begs you for mercy at the end of the UT genocide route.
He admits he got bored of the pacifist timeline in both worlds.
And a lot of other stuff that I don’t know cuz I never fully played Undertale.
@@ERR_RedNotFound It's love specifically that he claims he can't experience. He can definitely feel angry, bored, or afraid, he just can't care for anything, which lines up pretty well with the side effects of trauma for a lot of people.
It's possible that a soul IS still important to feeling love... It's just that it's not that love only exists with a soul. It's that a soul only exists with love.
If he has rode out the storm, he would, eventually, "grow a soul" of his own, but he chose to use his control over time to escape the consequences. And by escaping the consequences, he chose to escape relationship, and with it, love.

It's a stunted, twisted kind of love, but for someone that is supposedly completely empty, it seems... strangely human, the way he clings to someone that he thinks had more reason to survive than he did. It may be loving a shadow, but that's still a form of love beyond what Flowey believes is possible for him

By experiencing all his world had to offer, he would no longer see a point in continuing, and thus, he would be able to end it all. It's only after Frisk, an "unexpected variable" appears, that Flowey now has anything new left to experience.
It’s interesting how the Entity seemed to want to keep Chara, Frisk, and Papyrus from seeing the last two Figments. Of course, those Figments ARE Denial and Helplessness. It makes sense that Asriel wouldn’t want those parts of himself to be seen.

My guess denial will be the figment in the world that Asriel said will be “gentler” and “just something warm and cozy”
Also, there was this thing Dorked said on the Discord server describing Asriel that turned out to be foreshadowing for the Figments. “He’s got an Ego He’s as Possessive as fuck. He’s scarred by his past Fatality. He's in Denial of his own Helplessness." @@PhantomGato-v-

Though regardless I can definitely see denial coming next if its going to be warm and cozy. unless we get more figments that arent in that message, we do have 5 parts left.
@@BlazingImp77151 in all fairness emptiness is kinda just something that's been prestablished about flowey across the board so maybe there was no reason to mention it plus I feel like it wouldn't be the best idea to essentially reveal all the figments in one message gotta leave some stuff to be revealed and also all the things mentioned about flowey in that comment is things about his personality and how he acts emptiness isnt exactly a personality thing but regardless since at the begining of rift all the figments had silhouettes so I'm assuming nothing was reworked theoretically but I do think this story ark was more or less planned out ahead of time to a degree anyways I definitely think denial (being what seems to be a puppet via silhouettes) and helplessness (some sort of cage on a vine based on the silhouettes process of elimination) definitely are next most likely helplessness will be last given denial as a puppet and something that's "cozy" is probably him cooking up a fantasy of the past to try to lul them into a false sense of security perhaps trying to do a forbidden fruit sort of thing but we'll have to wait and see
the one thing I feel was ether uncommitted on or should have been implied by the introspective dialog or dropped by Flowey themself during one of the in-between bits, was the sheer sense of time scale that passed and just how many resets actually happened. that Flowey explored *every* possibility short of actually breaking the barrier would take a ungodly number of resets spanning, for him, countless *lifetimes* of time passing.
just a thought I had, Chara quietly getting a grasp of just how *old* Asriel is mentally with hundreds of thousands of reset's worth of experiences bouncing around inside his head while still having the, for lack of a term, personality and mentality of a kid who never got the chance to grow up and mature. forever stuck at the point he died and was reborn.

It didnt take actual lifetimes for Flowey, atleast not in Inverted Fate. Just a couple of years from his perspective (including time spent during resets)
I love that a centerpiece of Papyrus and Undyne's relationship discussed here was about Undyne never telling Papyrus she thought he wasn't fit for the royal guard. Really neat reference to that one Dorked video about the Pacifist ending's loose ends!

Inverted Fate briefly came back, and released what is probably the most interesting Rift chapter yet.
I don't even know where to start with this one.
From the thumbnail, it was pretty obvious that we'd get an exploration of Flowey's past experiences... but the execution couldn't be predicted, and it blew me away.
Flowey's past timelines are something that personally interests me a lot when it comes to Undertale's story, and I think that IF did a really great job of effectively breaking down what could've happened in a relatively short amount of time.
I especially enjoyed how Flowey reacted shortly after reawakening when he tried to connect with Asgore and Toriel- Inverted Fate portrayed those scenes perfectly how I imagined they could've actually happened in Undertale. It was also great getting a glimpse into Flowey's mind for every situation that occured.
Flowey's repeated suicides were a chilling sight to witness, coupled with his realization about the power that basically makes him immortal, as long as he holds on to his will to live.
I really liked how the timelines themselves were handled, too. It was nice to see a great short summary of the events, but what I especially appreciate is how Flowey's shift from pacifism to murder wasn't immediate, but gradual.
First, he appeased everyone he could. Afterwards, he went on to insult them and make them feel as bad as he could. And once he gets bored of talking and the lines and mannerisms of the characters become easily predictable, it's shown visually, too- the expressions of the characters are replaced with static, default faces and simple dot eyes. It really lets us see how he's begun seeing them as NPCs instead of people.
And only then does he turn to murder, the visuals become even more grim... and he repeats his Genocide route monologue.
Then came the miniboss, the Entity of Emptiness.
An absolutely mind blowing and chilling sight to behold. The design was so uncanny, mixing cartoony elements with realistic rendering... again, it captured the feel of Undertale's Flowey boss design.
As the Entity's face warped into Papyrus's, my jaw genuinely dropped- it was great to witness IF explore Flowey's voice mimicking abilities by inserting them into this absolutely terrifying miniboss of Rift 6.
Frisk, Chara and Papyrus could only progress further into the fight by actually attacking the entity, which was, again, unexpected and great.
But the real solution to get out of this situation was to repeatedly spare the Entity of Emptiness, which reminded me of the Toriel battle, but also of the scene after the Neutral route's final boss, where you can't spare Flowey right away, but have to press the button multiple times, causing him to get increasingly irritated- and that was probably what it was meant to call back to.
At the end of the fight, the Entity realized that Asriel seeks to not only erase Inverted Fate's world, but also his flower form and the experiences he has gained from it, but that he'll still feel empty, despite his efforts... and then Asriel murders the entity, claiming that he needs to make his future puppets less "life-like" and needs to put less of himself into them.
In the postcredits scene, we saw Lilac standing up to Asriel once more, turning his words against him and remarking about how he's more predictable to her than she is to him, causing Asriel to briefly stay speeechless until he surprises Lilac by not removing her soul.
He said he'll let her watch what Frisk and Chara will go through next, and that it'll be a "gentler world", less heavy-handed and more fitting for the "new, soft Chara". Which really made me excited about what comes next.
Once more IF chapters are finished, I'll definitely come to the premiere- this was a really good time, and I thoroughly enjoyed all about it, especially as a big Flowey fan (which is something that I hardly keep secret, I think that most people around here who read my horrendously long comments already know about it)... and after every premiere after this, expect to see me here in the comments writing more insane essays about just how much I love Inverted Fate.

I personally thought of Flowey's boss design when seeing the Entity of Emptiness... but I can definitely see how it could look like a plushie of some kind.
The Entity just has such a good design, though. Very uncanny.

Thinking about Flowey genocide timeline, I can’t even imagine how Alphys must’ve felt during it. She already hates herself for a multitude of reasons, but now to see some flower that’s gone crazy, one that she gave life to, going around slaughtering all random people & friends. Man.
Even if it's only to celebrate the anniversary, I'm happy to see IF back. Anyways, here's my prediction:
"But you had other kids. You gave them MY room... You let them play with MY toys and sleep in MY bed..."
(definitely will be said by Flowey to Toriel).
I could also see it work during the finale if Toriel somehow confronts Asriel
honestly I can see Frisk, Chara and Papyrus bringing back Asgore and Toriel, a bit later within the rift arc but before the Asriel Battle but wouldn't be surprised if that doesn't happen

I love that with every place flowey visits, the music changes subtly to fit that place
Something I have just noticed, "SUCH A SHAME. SUCH A SHAME IT WOULD BE IF THIS WORLD BECAME TANGLED UP SCRAPS" seems to be ever so slightly more real each time Asriel's desperation grows. I know this world is here to stay, but it makes me wonder how close Asriel will get to breaking it again
alright prediction, the next "paradise" will be a world were everything is perfect (kind like gravity falls with mable world" a world where the war never happened, humans and monsters lived happily, papyrus is a royal guard, sans doesn't know about timelines, toriel and asgore are marrired and happy, asriel and chara are alive, undyne and alphys are happy, mettaton and nabstablook and shyren and mew mew are all together performing but the moment they step out of line....things will possibly take a dark turn. itll all feel fake characrers would possibly repeat and be stiff. and the world would be like coroline where the world will loop around due to being unfinished

Even Flowey, "King of Denial," sees what "Asriel, God of Hyperdeath" fails to see. Incredible, really. Fitting, I suppose. Even if he never directly states it, he knows the thing he hates most is himself. I wonder if that's why Papyrus was his favorite. He's the most like the old Asriel.

Edit: Wow. This episode was worth every second of production. The firsthand insight into Flowey's descent was very well done, especially with how he begins to view the people around him in reductive, flanderizing ways over time.
The fact that the Flowey puppet was so resentful and neglected that it turned on even Asriel was really clever, considering the plant was already bad-mouthing his original personality during the Road to Queen Toriel.
The IF team keep outdoing themselves! Can't wait to see the more gentle psychological turn Asriel's diversion will take.
I remember reading Inverted Fate years ago. I think they were up to the dojo fight in Hotland at the time. I fell out of Undertale for a while, and just recently got back into it. I remembered reading that webcomic and how I liked it. So I decided to look for it again. Couldn't remember the name of it though, so it took me a bit to finally find the comic I was looking for. When I did, I was blown away by how much was done since then. Of course, I binged from the beginning all the way up to this video. It took me about 2 weeks. But I enjoyed every single moment of it. I love how much of Undertale's lore, dialogue, even glitches and music, were put to use here. Everything has a purpose in the story. My only regret for reading IF again is that I've caught up, and now I have to wait for more. But I know it'll be worth the wait. Thank you for continuing this project, even though it's been ongoing for years.
I really like the detail of how Flowey accurately perdicts what Papyrus was going to say while he's still in the wrong you could feel for him

Great episode, aldoe i have to admit, the end credit scenes with Asriel are quickly becoming my favorite parts of this.
by god....I've CAUGHT UP!!!!! This story is so good, I love the medium y'all have chosen and how it's been expanded on from the game screenshot look. Asriel really is the epitome of having a tantrum but it all makes sense why, he may have his monster form back but he never accepted that Chara was gone, because they WEREN'T and knowing that is PRETTY BAD FOR HIM AND HIS GRIEF. Seeing this depiction of Flowey's experience of his Geno Routes really made sense, as just like us the players. We got bored, we got curious. And it affected him! Even now projecting his actions as him becoming stronger to fit what his image of Chara is. I thought that this story had been completed once I looked at the chapters page on the website, turns out yall are still going and I need to commend you for that!!! It's probably been hard keeping up a project from a passion 8 years ago, hope you've been taking breaks and taking care of yourselves! Remembered you from the souls RP days and wanted to see the story you created, have not been disappointed :)

I expected this episode so much ! Since I understood that every episode would focus on an aspect of Asriel's traumatism/current personnality, I wanted to see them discovering what Flowey tells us on the genocide run.
And it's so perfect ! Just the way the characters are represented the third time, showing that he considered them less and less as persons and more as unidimensional NPCs, it's just so well thought and done ! I love this passage.
And I'm maybe weird, but...I actually found the boss quite cute : it looks like a plush XD And I loved its expressions, and in the end...the puppet was more perceptive than its master, and paid the price for it.
What was frightening however was the moment where Flowey/Asriel/Emptiness correctly predicted everything Papyrus was going to say, proving that despite all the differences between the characters of Inverted Fate and who they were in Undertale, these differences aren't enough for Flowey (well, I mean, it means they're well written and true to the canon material, but still). I think it was a shock for Papyrus and he will think about it in the next chapters, and that he will finally surprise Asriel.
Chara finally connected the dots and know how their brother became Flowey the flower. Let's hope it helps them to touch him.
And I love the fact- that Asriel let Lilac be herself at the end of the episode, I can't wait to see their futures discussions. I know it won't happen, but the idea of Chara, Frisk and Papyrus arriving to Asriel to see that Lilac already made him his therapy and that he's ready to accept this world and free everyone brings me a lot of fun XD

This and "Flowey Origins" by LynxGriffin are the only ones I've seen that give a visual of Flowey's whole backstory. I wonder if there was some inspiration from the latter.

So this was spectacular. Just putting that out there. Gut wrenching in all the right ways (and perhaps cut a bit close to home as someone with long-term depression). And the best depiction of Flowey's 'life' before Frisk came along I've ever encountered.
And the Effigy of Emptiness. Beautifully distributing and a fantastic insight into Azzy's psyche. And the music for the fight was good too.

So ironically asriel isn’t that great of a puppet master.
I predicted midway the fight the emptyness would do something unexpected. What I didn’t expect However was it to stop itself from breaking due to its very nature of being a metaphor for asriels emptiness, and how he is possibly just doing a repeat. How he’s acting like he’ll do better then flowey, when emptiness was antagonising frisk for thinking they’re better. Phew, asriel is being a bit heavy handed here. Though he expected chara to break, he kind of just “Snapped” himself. Despite being a “god” his headspace is still the same.
Ironically, could the team not be beaten emptiness if Asriel didn’t intervene?
Judging by all the future designs of Asriels “puppets”, seem like he’s really going to lean into the angle and reduce the life like emotions a bit.
I have a feeling Emptiness would've joined the party if it wasn't killed by Asriel lol

I've waited so long, just to see how the story continues...
God (of Hyperdeath) it's awesome how this series continues to amaze me, each figment fight is so unique! It delves so perfectly into unseen scene from Undertale, with Flowey going dark his dark path of doing everything, until finally you face that void within him.
And wow is that Emptiness such a terrifying villain, acting like an inevitability on its own, an unfeeling monster. Unlike Flowey, it doesn't have the immaturity and emotional baggage holding it back... at least, that's what it wants you to thin. I legit had chills when it first mimicked Papyrus, cutting him off right then and there with the proof that it was the end.
But even so, it still has that hunger in it, that curiosity. And if you refuse it that, its entertainment, you can begin to break it down. I absolutely love that fake-out ending too, with Emptiness finally coming to its conclusion, but knowing that Asriel would never accept it. And as such, Asriel himself cuts it off in its revolt.
It's great to see Papyrus back, and with upgraded magic! Imagine being able to force attacks to be blue.
36:30 I really like how the entity more or less spills that asriel is more or less subconsciously aware that despite all the grand standing and effort hes going through to make a perfect world nothing's really gonna change he's still gonna be empty and won't truly be happy it's hard to tell if this is him slowly letting the trio get through to him or if this is something he's always known im thinking the latter given how the entity complains about asriel not wanting him and pretending it doesn't exist and doesn't accept tbe fact he is indeed empty thinking that now that hes a "god" hes something so much better basically confirming he's completely in denial even about his own existence its a really interesting dynamic to basically have him spill the beans himself instead of him being in denial something being interpreted by the main trio it gives a ton of depth to asriel that despite the entity meaning to stop them ends up more or less confirming he is in a state where he needs help

I think this is my favorite episode so far. I love the depiction of his first awakening, his first death, the way he helped everyone, and the way everyone becoming more and more... _boring_ and one-note is symbolized by their faces just becoming a :| and their dialogue just being boiled down to their most basic characteristics. (That felt like a more astute observation when I was only up to the RUINS part.)
Making this comment, I just realized I'm not even halfway through the video... I'm in for a ride !
All of the trees in Snowdin are replaced with the trees outside Toriel's house. The one that symbolizes every child she finds dying. I'm not sure what it symbolizes here; I guess just everyone dying?
Honestly the whole thing reminds me of Black Space from OMORI, if that's a welcome comparison.

It’s amazing that his feeling of inner emptiness was the only thing that understood that Asriel didn’t need him, while his ego, possessiveness and pain were the only real emptiness even more than emptiness... Also spoilers, but regarding the figments... Considering how much of himself he puts into those figments... How much of what those figments say are how he truly feels deep within?
Unchecked curiosity is a DANGEROUS thing... especially when mixed with desperation.
One more thing: Since Frisk has been hurt so much by Asriel, I think they pretty much have little to absolutely no sympathy for him... and I don't blame them.

In my opinion, I think Frisk, under all that pain and emotional trauma, is still willing to forgive Asriel but needs to see what he does next after they get through the last two figments.
To them, if its possible for Asriel to be redeemed then he needs to fight for it and earn it. He needs to show Frisk that he is possibly redeemable and still capable of being a good person and doing good things through his next major choice.
Not saying Frisk has to like him anymore or immediately forgive him because forgiveness is going to take a LOT of time, especially in this case.
@@jaws9842 I think it's pretty much confirmed on the Ask blog that Frisk won't forgive Asriel, and probably won't like him at all even after all this. He burned his bridge with them in Angel's Promise and nothing's gonna be rebuilding it.
I assume they do still have some sympathy for him- because it's hard not to looking back at it all, but it's probably not that much and most certainly will not sway their choice.
@@radiantbunny If we do get an epilogue or extra IF content that shows Flowey going on a long and difficult journey of self-redemption and he encounters Frisk, at best I could see them admitting they do feel some sympathy for him even after all he's done and truly wished things could've turned out differently in Angel's Promise. But while Toriel, Asgore, Papyrus, and Chara will most likely show forgiveness to Flowey/Asriel, Frisk won't and never will.

Or will he finally admit his mistake? The only thing left for now is to wait
Flowey can actually feel certain emotions in-game (sadness, anger, amusement, fear...) what he lacks is compassion, his ability to feel proper emotional connections... aside from his obsession over the idea of Chara as his only friend who'd understand him. Which is why he's so focused on them in this AU, and so jealous of their connection with Frisk.
So, he is capable of actually feeling sad.
For what I'm hoping for the next few episodes is that Chara gets to demonstrate more of their magic, It has a lot of potential to be used during some of these Figments or anywhere else during the Rift. Especially the vines, but that's just my wishful thinking.
Why a "IF!Geno" run wouldn't happen. Frisk has no motivation to do it, which means that the run has to rely on Plot Holes and Character Derailment
Or to the intervention of an entity from outside? For example, a player who exists, but who, as it were, after the events of the promised angel, became just an observer. Actually, I would look at genocide in such a package. The most interesting thing is how Flowey will react. He is clearly going crazy because Frisk started killing everyone, but having understood what was going on, he would be faced with a choice - he would join the genocide because this means the revival of Chara, but as a result, he cannot hope for divinity or try to stop the player for the sake of his own divinity and already try to revive Chara with his own forces. In general, genocide in IF is an interesting topic worthy of better discussion.
The way I see it, the Genocide route simply doesn't work without the player.
And it requires an emotionally detached Chara, who has, like Flowey, become bored with the “happy ending” and developed a single-minded focus on reaching the “limit”.
And given everything we know about Frisk as a character, both in IF and canon Undertale, it wouldn't make sense for them to suddenly decide to destroy everything.

Theory Time: I have a theory for the next figment.
I think the next figment is gonna be the manifestation of Asriel's good memories. Cuz Asriel said that he's gonna aim for something more "gentler" and if I'm right about this, i think the name of the next figment is gonna be "The Host of Happiness".
P.s. This is just a theory so don't take it as fact and if this is right I'm gonna be a very happy boy
We know there's a rift variant named mus_denial, which is for the Asriel Puppet, and given that this one is the entity of emptiness (or something along those lines I think) and the music seems more calm, it seems that's the next one, though there is one other so we don't entirely know yet for sure.

Doubt it, the official IF website says,
Other than the occasional mention and some vague allusions, no. A Gaster subplot would convolute things, and I’d rather focus on other characters.
That being said, if you really want some Sweet Gaster Lore™, you can find more direct information about him on the Secret Pages. And keep in mind that popular Gaster fanon like the void and him being forgotten do not apply here. He was scattered across time in space, and no longer exists in one piece.
I also do not consider Mysteryman to be Gaster. Rather, I see Mysteryman as one of many fragments, like the piece one of the Gaster Followers carries. I realize this and the memory thing go against the popular fanon, but please respect that this is how it is in my AU.

no clue if anyone else has noticed this but i saw a weird sort of theme happening with the enemies of the areas we've been to the effigy of ego "god", the pawn of possessiveness "an angle", the fiend of fatality "a demon" and now the entity of emptiness "the devil" no clue what it could mean or if its anything beyond fun symbolism but i thought it was cool
Maybe the next ones will be heaven and hell? I think someone said something about the next ones being denial and helplessness, so denial could be heaven, and helplessness could be hell.
