i just started learning Korean and you’re textbooks have really helped me. i was scared at first things wouldn’t stick in my head but some things r actually sticking. i’m excited to see my progress by the end of the year
@@kritikumar318 it’s really good, i can have conversations with people just basic conversation. my speaking is out of practice because i don’t have anyone to do it with but apart from that, i find it a easy to understand some songs and also when watching korean vlogs i’m able to pick out some things
Annyeong friends, I really want to keep studying korean...however I feel that it's so hard because listening to Korean is hard. It's spoken so quickly. It's hard to understand everything I hear and yet, I just love the language so much so I don't want to give up!! What do you recommend?
honestly, the easiest way to build up your listening skills is to pretend that you're a baby learning the language the same way they do. Try and find really simple learning materials especially early childhood education materials and use it! it actually works to learn languages like a baby would haha.
I started by watching a lot of Korean content here on RUclips. From variety show clips to behind the scenes footage of idol groups. I started to pick up on key words and phrases after hearing them enough times. Sometimes if I hear a word a lot, but still don’t know what it means, I will pause to look it up. That helps reinforce it I think. I also practice vocabulary and grammar separately. I agree that it’s hard to understand native speakers as a beginner. But it gets easier with practice. You can do it!
please keep in mind, if you're a 1 year old child, you would only barely know your own native tongue. the same goes for learning a language. you need to put YEARS into it before you can even be at the level of a 5 year old child... (ps that might be less than 5 years for you, because you're a smart adult)
@@talktomeinkorean thank you! when learning a new language like Korean, do you recommend not to learn it with another 'new' language? For example suppose I want to learn Spanish and Japanese too, as new languages and personal goals of mine. do you think first to focus on Korean for a good amount of time - anywhere from 2 weeks to 2 months - is that a good idea?
Hey Hyun Woo. Love your videos. I hope this doesn't embarrass you because your English is, of course, absolutely fabulous. But would you like a tiny bit of feedback on a small pronunciation error that I've heard many times in your videos? It's actually an error I hear from pretty much every Korean English speaker here in Korea. "Changed" is pronounced "chanjd" without the vowel between the "j" sound and the "d" sound. In fact, all English words that end in either the "j", "ch" or "s" sound have no spoken vowel sound between that sound and the past tense "d" (except for a couple very exceptionally rarely used situations). Your English is almost completely flawless, except for this one small regular mispronunciation, and it bugs me every time I hear it because the rest of your English is so amazing, and almost perfect. I'm surprised that no-one has told you before. Thanks for you videos. They're great! 🙂
Thanks for the heads up, Fran! I'm certain there are many more quirks in my English pronunciation that I need to fix, in addition to the one you mentioned. And like you said, no one has told me about it and now I see the difference! I'll work on that! : ) I appreciate it!
one of the biggest struggles ive had with learning korean is i have so many gaps in my knowledge.. i consider myself a level 2, maybe a beginner at level 3, and i got 9 questions correct (and 2 partially correct).. but i messed up on quite a few of the early questions. im excited to fill these gaps once i finally get the ttmik textbooks
