One thing I have found is that, when it comes to advice, many people don't give it for your benefit. They give it for theirs.
Just another way for you to be 'useful'.

I found that out pretty early myself after getting mountains of just bro advice. It's a polite way for people to tell you to shut up and be a good little producer, just keep grinding on that hamster wheel. They don't actually care if you ever get that reward, they just dont want to hear the people life screwed over complain about it.

File this under "exception that proves the rule". I just moved out to the Ozark's and I have a good Christian neighbor that is pushing 85, he is from another era altogether always out on his property doing this or that even against DR orders to chill out. I legitimately think that he get "pleasure" out of just watching me work on my property. All I have done for him is cleaned out his already pretty clean rain gutters one day. He will help me out with any project at a moments notice, which is pretty sweet because he has a lot of spending heavy machinery.

So, advice is tricky but those closest to you, that you feel have you r best interest and are removed enough from the situation, can be very very valuable

As far as taking advice from people; just remember they are imperfectly human too. Take the advice from them which is good, leave the rest behind. The difficult part is sorting through which advice is good and which is not.

I’m a liberal, cause I need help from the government, I suffer from mental illness. I feel that a lot of people are being manipulated by very rich podcast / comedians who have no need for help, the money is flowing like a river in that industry and they are brain washing the little guy listening, guys like Theo , Dillion , that crowd, I like to , but people would be stunned at the bags of money they rake in. They have a taste of wealth and it’s intoxicating , a regular guy has no reason to be a Republican, someone who employees over 100 people, yeah ok, tax breaks I get it, not for you though

  • @j23_stuff

Great video. Lines up with a lot of thoughts I've been having recently...particularly about how older people aren't necessarily worth listening to. I've been thinking about a lot of people who I respected when I was younger...I now realize they were just broken losers fumbling through life like anyone else. Age doesn't necessarily make people wiser. Both of my parents are in their 70s and they're both still clueless idiots. I wouldn't take life advice from either one of them. In fact, it would probably be smart to do the opposite of what they say 😄. People generally don't improve much as they age. They just continue being led around by their flaws and trauma. Sometimes they actually get worse as they age. Their delusions become more solidified.
