I remember being at this game and this was the loudest hit I've ever heard. Echoed in the stadium. Tim Dwight was a great football player even named our family dog (pug) after him
My brother in law met him while getting new tires. He had Tim call me. I worked 3rd shift at the time and was sleeping when the phone rang. I thought it was a friend from work pranking me, so I said "This isn't funny. I just got to sleep. If you are going to pull this kind of crap, you could at least tell me that you're Kurt Warner" and hung up on him. Lol
I think this was Dwight's freshman year. That was the only time he did kick coverage I believe. But I had always said he should have been on kickoff team and gunner on the punt team his entire career at Iowa. This play proves it. I guess Coach Fry was worried about him getting hurt, which was probably the right decision. Even without a host of defensive special teams plays like this one to add to his stats he still might be the best special teams player in B1G history.
@spiderdragon1969 tim dwight finshed 7th in the heisman voting as an under sized reciever an kick returner pretty sure that makes him great maybe not an NFL great but he's def on of the colleg greats when it comes to being a return man
@spiderdragon1969 Greene finished 6th everyone that finished a head of him in the heisman voting was a QB and michael crabtree who was only there because his qb finished 4th in the voting and he was the only WR Harrell threw too meaning that guess what in 2008 SHONN GREENE WHO PLAYED RUNNING BACK FOR IOWA was the BEST running back in the country which would make him on of the greats in college football
He caught the damn ball. I don't see why he's so up in arms about not giving him enough room. If he hadn't have caught it, I'd understand. He caught the ball, OBVIOUSLY he had enough room.
ummm........... im just wondering how he got up after that one.........id be on the ground ballin my fuckin eyes out goin 'tim dwight just knocked the shit outta me'
@redrox15 i agree...Greene DESERVED it! Do you people know how hard it is to just get 100 yards in a game with todays players?!?! Jesus....they are fucking freaks...but he "managed" to just get 100 yds EVERY GAME!! Go Greene! ANd HAWKS!!!

When Ronnie Harmon broke his leg, the cracking sound echoed through the whole stadium. Acoustics in Kinnick are amazing.
Crazy that the loudest hit you ever heard came from a WR . Probably would’ve been one hell of a a safety
He could have played almost any position
"Rodney Williams will be remembering this for the rest of the game"
No, he won't. He won't even remember his name for the next 30 minutes.
The importance of special teams is always looked down upon.
When you have guys like Timmy D, it shows how important the 3rd element is.
BOOOOOOOM!!! Timmy D brought the thunder of God on this guy!! bet he thought twice about returning a punt the rest of his career!!
7 years later (2003)......this woulda been a clean hit! Best thing college football did was get rid of the halo rule!!!!!!
TIM IS THE BEST HE GAVE ME CANDY WHEN I MET HIM

funny thing is....they both ended up playing for the Chargers together
Tim would be called for targeting by today's rules. He was truly fearless....like Lt. Spears in Band of brothers.

Mr Funk -Nope. This was in 1996, Dwight's junior year.

He caught the ball and got his bell rung, thats just good football
@GoodOlRudy Damn right.
Damn.
Tim Dwight says, "Screw the halo rule..."
lol shoulder to helmet?
Brandon Wegher is just like Tim Dwight
@geoffds Couldn't agree more.
the halo rule just changed recently, it was different back then.

Actually, that hit would still be illegal now; he made a helmet-to-helmet hit.
@GoodOlRudy got that right, we dont pull no punches
met him today hes so cool!
Tony Smith I KNOW HES SO NICE
glad they got rid of that halo rule.
Go Cats!
It would be a legal hit with the rules they have in place now.
Him knocking the shit out of an Arizona player makes me feel good. Was that payback for them stealing Lute? LOL!
@satchyproductions
hahaha ...fucking love that!
ok so we should expect personal foul penalties...
let me tell you its gonna take alot more than two block field goals to get rid of us...
BEAR DOWN
so happy the halo rule is gone
ummm........... im just wondering how he got up after that one.........id be on the ground ballin my fuckin eyes out goin 'tim dwight just knocked the shit outta me'

If you consider this a cheap shot, I bet you one of those dorks who spends the entire football complaining every time somebody gets tackled.
