I watched Tim play in high school. Crazy fast. You can't really appreciate the speed he had unless you saw him run in person. I brought my non-football fan wife to one of his games at City High and even she was blown away. She asked, "How can he make his legs move that fast?" Amazing dude!

Not just speed, but he had power too. It hurt to tackle him. It was like trying to tackle a wrecking ball mid swing

I used to log games for ESPN+ in Charlotte and man from that TV monitor that speed to the corner was incredible.

one of the most amazing football games i have ever watched was city high (tim dwight) vs bettendorf hs (tavian banks). the game started with 4 back to to back kickoff returns and tim dwight would do a backflip in full football pads + helmet as a 17 year old kid. it was such a great rivalry and then they both went to iowa and played together.

Curtis ME TOO!!!! We were at the Playstation in C.R. for our son's birthday party the day of that game, and thankfully they had it on the tv's there. I was jumping up and down to see that. Do you remember the game he played with a collapsed lung? I think he was with San Diego at the time and it wasn't diagnosed until after the game. He never told anyone that he was short of breath or anything. He was one tough kid. I was in Kinnick for his final game as a Hawkeye and while I don't remember who we played, we kicked their ass!! That was November of '97.

Fast is fast. Tim Dwight was more then fast. Snakin by people is priceless. How did that I'm not a running back work out for you? Wish I coulda scored a TD in the Super Bowl. No matter what side of the score I was on. Always liked Dwight.

He was (and still is) so amazing to watch, and the video doesn't do it justice. I was in jr high, & went to every home game with my Dad. I especially like the Indiana clip here because you can hear the crowd noise. The loudest i have ever heard Kinnick was the moment that every single fan in the stadium would simultaneously realize that no one was going to catch him and he was going to the end zone. You can hear that moment at 3:00 on this video; gives me goosebumps, and takes me back.

@@tedbundy1769 No doubt and seriously doubt anyone in attendance could catch him either. When Tim Dwight played at Iowa City High his senior year. in 1993. He had 2113 rushing yards and 43 touchdowns which he only played in half of some of the games because the games were so lopsided. Another running back that played along side of Tim Dwight there at Iowa who was pretty good too was Tavian Banks who starred at Bettendorf.

Cool story, I had a shirt autographed by Tim Dwight, and I wore it one day when I was at UIHC to check up on a surgery and while waiting to be called, I looked beyond my husband and got excited because there was Norm Parker sitting in a wheelchair. I asked the nurse at the desk if I could borrow a black sharpie. I went over to him and showed him that I had TD's autograph on my shirt, but I would be so happy if he would autograph my shirt also. He was a bit apprehensive so I told him as I pointed, "that's my husband over there, trust me, you do what ever you need to do to sign my shirt, he won't be upset", and he actually got a big smile out of that, and signed my shirt. I have only worn it a couple of times because I don't want those autographs to fade away. Norm was so great with our defense.

Let's put it this way -- if some white guy became heavyweight boxing champion and stayed that way for more than two minutes, people would not act like it was normal. Because it's not. This guy was not normal, and that's why he was so fun to watch. I used to love seeing him return kicks for Atlanta like a kamikaze bat outta hell. Dude was crazy.

If I remember correctly, Iowa got spanked by Ohio State two weeks earlier, had a bie, and then Tim Dwight nearly beat the future National Champions "by himself". He nearly scored in the second half on a kickoff or punt but nearly wasn't enough.
That Iowa offense was either Banks or Dwight, and that was about it. I think if the QB hadn't been so inclined to look for Dwight they would have had a better overall season, but then I don't recall how well the other wide receivers and tight ends were at catching the ball.
I do know that Ohio State blew through the offensive line and that pretty much took Banks out of the picture in the earlier game. I'm a Bettendorf graduate and was born in Iowa City (my parents went to City High and I used to go to games with my grandparents) so I'm a fan of both players. :-D
I tend to wonder how this team would have done if Ferentz had still been coaching the linemen at the time.

Before PED's whites and blacks had the same times. Im not sayin only blacks use them, but look how America has declined in sprinting since the strict testing (both black and white) and Jamaica, a tiny island is dominating, and they dont have strict testing there. If a white sprinter had Bolt's time the entire world would suspect peds, but most people believe he isnt, except ex-sprinters who used ped's themselves.

There are so many more men in the NFL that were faster. The fastest was Jim Hines with a 9.95 & the second fastest is Trindon Holliday at 10.00 & Jeff Demps & Jacoby Ford both ran a 10.01. Bob Hayes 10.06, Ron Brown 10.06, Gerald Tinker & Willie Gault 10.10, Tyreek Hill 10.19, Herschel Walker 10.23, Deion Sanders 10.26. There are so many more but those are the ones that I can remember. 10.31 is very fast as you say but not quite as fast as these guy's.
