    Brilliant! Thank you so much. I have been looking for a way to make my mask adjustable for the ear loops.

    This feature has been keeping me from going gung-ho on elastic. I have loads of 42" bias tape ripped because they were the best way to get a good fit on a mask, plus elastic was scarce when I was sewing masks in March and April.
    I am totally getting my 8YO daughter on beading elastic for ear loops, now. We have so many pony beads in this house.
    Thank you for this tutorial. It's really made my masks up to the next level.

    I have used a yarn needle and it works well. Some beads have a smaller hole but i use the end of the needle to poke it through. I love this idea and so do my customers

    This works great for adjustability! I just followed your directions and got it! I wish there was a different material that I could use though so that it would be safe going through the dryer. For now I’ll wash on gentle and air dry. Update: I washed and dried it with no problem or damage to the beads. Yay! Thanks for sharing this information!

      May I suggest quilters cotton, 100% cotton, and even Kona. And I do not use the machines on our masks. Medium hot water in the powder room sink with a little bit of Woolite. Swirl around in the water with your hand. Let sit for about 10 minutes. Rinse in fresh water (I do this a couple of times). Gently squeeze out water, then place onto an absorbent towel that I keep in the laundry room next to the powder room. Hang to dry by the elastics in the laundry room. They are dry by next morning. Do I ever through them into the washer and dryer? Yes, but not often. And our masks look great. I'm an A++ personality, and I prefer to lightly iron them so any wrinkles are pressed out and mask looks like new. Ironing also helps with sanitizing (read that on a helpful website). Hope this helps....😊

    Instead of the stopper bead, I just tie a small knot there instead and use 1 bead, the adjustable bead...works great.👍😀 Great threading idea!!! Thanks for sharing this video.

    I found the elastic problem...some 1/4” elastic is soft and is easy to pull as video shows...however some is hard
    1/4” Elastic..and you can pull through the first bead but not the double....SO..IN THAT CASE..I TOOK MY SMALL SCISSORS..CUT THE TWO ELASTIC TIPS AT AN ANGLE AND PUSHED IT THROUGH BY HAND....I will make sure to really check 1/4” elastic for softness next time purchased🥰

      @@kimbond7085 So sorry, Kim, but I don't recall. I did not note it in my Sewing Journal; I just made notation of the size for the beads. I bought a brand called Darice "The Big One" 1 lb bag, transparent Pony Beads. Wonderful, varied colors, including clear. I had so many that I shared with a friend. Cost me less than $3 which included the tax, at Joann Fabric, with one of their great coupons. The same bag on Amazon was 8 something! Here's the UPC code: 8267669156. Numbers ABOVE the UPC label: 96342016070101. I handwash our masks but have thrown them in the machine from time to time, and in the dryer (medium heat). Beads have not cracked or broken, and colors have held up. VERY pleased with my incredible purchase!. ALSO: Look at other tutorials that show how to use pony beads on the elastic. There are actually two that are less fussy. and easier on my arthritic fingers. There is also a tool called "loop" something (needle?) that sells for about 6-9 bucks depending on where you buy it, that would make getting the beads onto the elastic a CINCH and painless for my fingers. Looking to buy one for sure!👍🏼

    • @nancybryant4325
      @nancybryant4325 4 года назад +1

      It seems like it wouldn’t hurt unless you pull it too tight. However, maybe a person could put a small piece of cotton between the bead and the ear if it was irritating the ear. I’ve also seen a video where they made longer ties that tie behind the head instead of on the ears. You could use these beads instead of tying.

    • @leburtakanno9534

      I have done this both with a mask before sewing in the elastic and after sewing. I have to say that the look is more "finished" using a stopper bead rather than a knot, but a knot will work.
