    Also a massive money saver. Better to have multiple straps for a watch than buying more watches. Cool One Piece nod 😊cheers.

      Nothing money saving about buying a bunch of ugly nato straps and scratching the lugs of your watch

    Another great "how-to." Two things to watch out for: you might want to use that cloth to prevent that spring bar from springing off into the nether regions of the room, leading to Dog-knows how many minutes searching for it. Also a good idea *not* to attempt removal with the watch on its side. (You know the saying - it's all fun and games until someone loses an eye.)

    • @ChronometerCheck
      @ChronometerCheck  Год назад +2

      Thanks! So true. A flashlight helps "sparkle" the springbar, but not always a sure shot. And you're right about not trying to remove it on its side, I have had a couple of lil accidents

    Pro Tip: If you’ve never done this, some spring bars are easy to get to, some are very hard to get to.
    Take your time, be careful, you don’t want to slip and scratch your watch.
    Also, a high quality spring bar tool will work WAY better than than a cheap one. A cheap one is $1-$3 or even free with some straps. An “expensive” one is $10 to $20.
    A $20 Bergeon is the best (from what I’ve heard after watching 100+ hours on the topic) and I finally bought one and wow… it is a WORLD of difference from the cheap ones that came with straps I’ve bought. Or the one that came with the watch repair kit I bought on Amazon.
    I bought a TOP rated watch repair kit on Amazon with 15 different tools and many extra parts/pieces including a spring bar tool for only $18. It was honestly an EXCELLENT purchase, but the spring bar tool wasn’t great.
    I didn’t think it made sense to spend $20 on something I already had, especially when $20 for 1 tool was more than I spent on a whole kit with 15 tools, BUT… it was absolutely worth the $20.
    Just trust me.
    Have fun out there.
    Changing straps is the MOST common thing you’ll do and a great spring bar tool makes it 10 times faster and easier.
    It can also turn a 3 watch collection into a 30 watch collection.
    Get yourself 5+ NATO straps, a black leather strap, a brown leather strap, a metal mesh bracelet, a couple colorful silicone straps, maybe a sailcloth strap, and poof…
    3 watches is now 30 watches. Especially if your watches have the same lug width! Then you can mix and match the same straps on different watches.

    Don't use the tool, just use some floss instead. Less risk for damage to your strap and watch.

    • @ChronometerCheck
      @ChronometerCheck  Год назад

      Sure, will do a video on it. But basically similar to a leather strap, except you first want to undo the buckle, then remove the strap from the lugs

    • @julesvega4566
      @julesvega4566 Год назад

      @@ChronometerCheck I know what the goal is but I just can't get the lugs out without it popping back in the other side. I have no problem at all changing any other strap or component, but I never, ever managed to get one of those mfs out. I'd love my Longines on a Nato or Rubber strap so some nights I watch tv while destroying my hands trying and never succeeding. I'm sure there's a smart ass somewhere with a trick for it so if anyone of you is lonely enough to have read all of this up to this sad, forgotten point, please help me.
