I really want to study a software engineer from scratch, what and in what sequence to study (roadmap for software engineer) to become a full-fledged software engineer and get a job??? I'm 35 years old, isn't it too late for me to become an employment programmer?

Jon, I just need advice from you a step-by-step plan to study the material for software engineer what to learn first and so on (roadmap software engineer)? I want to learn C++ knowing its other languages will understand faster. In your opinion, C++ is enough for a software engineer?? And what can you say about Java for software engineer?

    • @yourfriendintech
      @yourfriendintech  2 года назад +1

      Software engineering is such a broad field, but you can start with the basics: the fundamentals of computer science. A good example on what people study in college is is Harvard's computer science curriculum; they have it posted online and they even have free courses that you can take. C++/Java are both good to learn, they are both object object oriented programming languages.

      Hey Darryl! I don't have any first hand experience with bootcamps so I may not be the best person to answer this. I've heard great things about bootcamps and I've also heard the opposite, but of course it varies depending on the bootcamp - what I recommend is you do thorough research before committing to one to make sure its legit and not predatory.

    • @yourfriendintech
      @yourfriendintech  2 года назад

      That's honestly a great question and there's no simple answer. It is something you will need to reflect on yourself. Your answer will be based on your skills, experience, current financial standing. There are so many ways that people have became millionaires. ie. Working in a high paying field, winning the lottery, crypto. Can you think of a realistic way for you to achieve this goal? What will help you in achieving this goal? What are some things that may stand in your way of reaching this goal?

      Content creation has a lower bar of entry - anyone can start uploading on RUclips. But building an audience will take time and the reality is that some content creators never see a single penny. A job in software can provide stable income, but it's a lot harder to learn.

    • @yourfriendintech

      I never plug my devices into unknown USB ports, but I am comfortable with using power outlets as there is no risk of data transfer there.
      There is a risk to using public WiFi, you can combat that by only browsing https, but using a VPN would be better. Personally I've been using my phone as a hotspot to avoid public WiFi altogether

    • @xLiLtEmPeR
      @xLiLtEmPeR 2 года назад

      @@yourfriendintech Now it's USB too???? I didn't know USB plugs can get you hacked. I heard about plugging into electricity and public wifi's. I saw your power bank thing but I suggest buying a solar charger it gets energy from the sun and if costs $15-30. That way no electrical is needed.

    • @yourfriendintech
      @yourfriendintech  2 года назад +1

      @@xLiLtEmPeR The risk is connecting your device to something that can transfer data to/from your device. There is no data transfer with my power bank so there is no risk. But if a random stranger hands you a power bank, you have no idea if it's been tampered with - so there is a risk to plugging your device into it. In general, there is no data risk when plugging your own charger into a public outlet for electricity.
