Is the top handle wide enough to work as a luggage pass, since it's not built with one? And does the main zipper come with waterproof coating? I'm in a dilemma between this and the alpaka bravo totepack.
Stowing the backpack straps is good if you use the bag in tote/breifcase mode 80% of the time but occasionally need the backpack straps if the bag gets heavy.
I have the same 14L version in the same colour and it's my current EDC for work. I like the weight and the size of this backpack. I did notice a couple of differences: first, there is only 1 zip tab for the main compartment in my bag, so it only opens and closes 1 way. This was extremely helpful! I do have one question though. The 14L says its for up to a 13" laptop. Do you think that's an accurate statement or is there some wiggle room? My work laptop is Lenovo is a T14s, so 14", and I really don't want the larger 20L backpack as I'm pretty small (5'-2"). Do you think it would fit in the 14L version, or is your 13" MBP a tight fit? Thanks!!
So I just tested it and yes there seems to be some wiggle room BUT I just want to be clear that I am not saying your laptop will fit. Maybe double check with Bellroy too just to know for sure
Hey, I know this video is one year old and you probably won’t ever see this comment, but I think it’s important to mention the fact that it only has one entrance to the main compartment is good for security. It means that to pull something out of your main compartment a thief would have to reach up to your shoulder height unzip the compartment then dig their hand into the bag. Versus when you have a side pocket which is way easier to quickly shove their hand into the compartment after they bump into you.
do you think it would be possible to fit a 14 inch laptop inside it? i have the rog zephyrus g14 and if it cant fit i probably wont buy it since I don't want the 20L
Hey Aaron! Thank you so much for this review. I am currently doing a research, and your channel is extremely helpful! May I suggest some bags to review? Bellroy Tokyo Workbag, Bellroy System Messenger, and Bellroy Tech briefcase. I am a media composer and I am looking for some solutions to transform my studio to a mobile studio. I am looking some kind of bags that can casual, functional and comfortable; also look professional if I have to go to a meeting. Thank you so much! :)
I have the Tech Briefcase and Tokyo Workbag. After using both, I have to say that the Tokyo Workbag is the most functional messenger style bag I've used. It has a very nice partitioned exterior front pocket for tech gear. Good organization in the interior that is also surprisingly spacious inside and it can expand quite nicely as well and has a well designed exterior water bottle pocket. A back panel pocket and luggage pass through ties it all together. The tech briefcase is cheaper and a lot simpler but it lacks a lot in utility if that's what your looking for. I skipped on the system messenger as the style just didn't vibe with me.
@@Advanced469 Thank you so much for the insights. Frankly I really like the design of the System Messenger (from the pics and reviews that I saw), but thanks to you I will take a deeper look to Tokyo Workbag. Thank you!!

I have this bag, love the look, but do not like the small opening at the top. Difficult to see anything inside the bag and not much organization. The front pockets are small as well. Do you have any recommendations on a tote backpack type of bag with more organization and wider opening at the top?
Alpaka bravo Totepack is the only one I can think of, but it’s a little tight as well (but with a bit better access due to the front half-moon compartment)
I just seen this video today. I've to say this bag is inferior to the Swiss Gear 3577 Laptop Tote Backpack. Its build quality is mediocre, the lining is all wrinkled, the opening is narrow, and the whole bag feels cheap
I think that front material is canvas - what happened to the research guys?? And speaking of, where's the banter? I mainly watch for that In any case, that bad is UGLY

How can I differentiate between the 20l and 14l size backpack? I think I got sent the wrong size, it hardly fits anything.
Reach out to their customer support - they’ll let you know what pack you got
I think I missed this bit of information... what colour is this tote of yours? Is it Slate?
Mine is Limestone
Hey,
I know this video is one year old and you probably won’t ever see this comment, but I think it’s important to mention the fact that it only has one entrance to the main compartment is good for security. It means that to pull something out of your main compartment a thief would have to reach up to your shoulder height unzip the compartment then dig their hand into the bag. Versus when you have a side pocket which is way easier to quickly shove their hand into the compartment after they bump into you.
great call!
do you think it would be possible to fit a 14 inch laptop inside it? i have the rog zephyrus g14 and if it cant fit i probably wont buy it since I don't want the 20L
definitely a great question for Bellroy customer support - please let us know what they say!
I know it can fit up to 13 in laptop, but can you try to fit a 16 in? Looking at dimensions, it could fit a 16 in.
I'd recommend asking Bellroy customer support - they'll get you sorted
@@Nomads.Nation I asked and they wouldn't answer. Would kill for someone to test this theory. I want one so bad, but have a 16" I need to lug around.
Thanks Gorey, I've added those bags to our (very long) to-do list. Best of luck with your mobile studio!
@@Advanced469 Thank you so much for the insights. Frankly I really like the design of the System Messenger (from the pics and reviews that I saw), but thanks to you I will take a deeper look to Tokyo Workbag. Thank you!!
Comprehensive review, presented in a very engaging way. Seems like if you are going to use it as a tote, it won’t be hands free. Is their a shoulder strap arrangement? Also, is the fabric water resistant?
Yes, fabric is water repellent. Not sure what you mean about the ‘shoulder strap arrangement’?
Hi. Do you think the 14L can hold a slim laptop of 14" ? 🤔
not sure tbh, I'd recommend asking Bellroy customer service - they'll get you sorted 💪
@@Nomads.Nation got my answer !
" The laptop pocket in the Tokyo Totepack Compact measures 310mm x 240mm, it fits the 14" Macbook Pro so if your Hp is within those dimensions it should fit, too ☺️"
Made up my mind ! It would be my work bag ! 😁 Thanks for the reviews!
@@isabelletran863 thanks so much for sharing!
Ooh, bold statements at the beginning.....let's see if it's true
Edit: yes never doubted you, clear review and this bag is not for me
Lack of luggage sleeve upsets me always
And bellroy materials aren't the best for me, picks up flint etc which annoys me and the weatherproofing issue is annoying. Living in UK I need a bag that accommodate those rainy days.
Thanks for the review
Gotta keep things spicy in the opening 😜 thanks for watching!!
it is a cool bag. too bad the 20L cant fit my 16 in laptop.
:(
I have this bag, love the look, but do not like the small opening at the top.
Aaron, you sound like you’re talking about a minivan 😂
How so 😂
Practical, but not sexy.
@@spartan_md8295 💯
This is an older version, right ?
Not that I know of
Are you sure the one you’re analyzing is 14L? It looks like what you have is 20L?
yea I screwed up, its the 20L, I added a note to the top of the description 🤦🏻♂️
@@Nomads.Nation your review is awesome. You didn’t screw up. Thanks for that hard work.

@@Nomads.NationThank goodness! I thought I wanted the 14L and after I saw your review calling this the 14L, I was afraid it was too large for me. 🤔
@@taturpin sry about the confusion!
Is that slate colour?
check the comments, I think Bellroy commented somewhere what color it is
Very nice Video!!!👍
Thank you very much!
filmed in HK, auto like and subscribe.
thanks for subbing! 🇭🇰
what size whater bottle fit in the tote
Not sure, I’d recommend reaching out to their customer support. Be sure to let us know what they say!
I'm so not interested in this product but I will watch any video Nomads Nation publish.
Hahaha thanks so much!!
Great backpack but noooooo Trolley Sleeve! Why?
one of Bellroy's weaknesses for sure
I brought a 20L before watching this video. So sad ! otherwise I would have had a better offer 😢
Hope you like the bag!
@@Nomads.Nation yes ! and like your video too. subscribed 🙂

Good work
Thank Athar!
i loved this colorway and have it in the sling mini but once its dirty it is UGLY.
yea, light colored bags are a bitch - once that dirt accumulates it's game over
I made it to the end without leaving, but no water bottle holder means not for me.
That's a great compliment to our review, thanks!
Cut a pool noodle in half longways, and you've made a new thicker false bottom on any bag! $1 can save you thousands.
that's some next-level DIY right there lol
Design 5.5/10
Everyone has different taste, I think it’s. 8.5/10
This is not 14L
noted in the description
"How about hippie fish scale rainbow" 😂
I thought it was an accurate description loll
that color looks hideous but the bag sure seems awesome
I kinda like the color, but to each their own 💪🏻
I just came to say: This will never be the coolest backpack ever.
I am here to respond: thank you for your opinion 😉
I still prefer Duo Totepack
from WANDRD?
@@Nomads.Nation From Bellroy but it is an old model which is extandable. I believe this Tokyo Totepack is replacing the Duo Totepack.
@@travollic7762 ah makes sense
Он прекрасен! Но обратите внимание на длину лямок. Зимой в России мне её не хватит 😐
Cheers!

I just seen this video today. I've to say this bag is inferior to the Swiss Gear 3577 Laptop Tote Backpack. Its build quality is mediocre, the lining is all wrinkled, the opening is narrow, and the whole bag feels cheap
Thanks for your perspective! And how long have you worked for Swiss Gear for?
I think that front material is canvas - what happened to the research guys??
And speaking of, where's the banter? I mainly watch for that
In any case, that bad is UGLY
Bellroy doesn’t specify on their site which bags use which materials - they just have a link to a generic page talking about all of their materials their company uses 🤷🏻♂️
Thanks for watching!
