I'm a newbie. What gauge wire is that that you use as a support wire. I bought 14ga assuming I will wrap it around something. I like this option. Thanks.

Number 11 is what I use, easier to work with but still strong enough…but some use #9 wire it takes bolt cutters to cut

Has anyone had any luck putting snares on a fence line like this? Let us know in the comments!

    Where do I begin.
    1. I’m sure you’ve caught plenty of coyotes with your set up but I’ve found I couldn’t watch the whole video because I felt it was absurd.
    2. When showing how to put a disposable stake in, GET IT IN! For coyotes, even in firm soil, it takes a good 14-inches in the ground. You showed a whole lot less.
    3. The support wire should look like a “v” at the bottom to keep it from spinning in the wind, and to cause the snare to “release” fast as the coyote moves through it.
    4. You can fence a coyote in a wide trail If you do it subtly with a few tall weed stems to narrow it down.
    5. There is noting sacred about an 11:00 lock set above the trail. A 10:00 set position is just fine.
    6. Snaring fences may lead to catching deer as deer don’t jump fences very often. They tend to crawl under fences more than going over.
    7. Personally, I like an in-line swivel (600 pounds or greater strength) as well as an end swivel because the end swivels stop working when pounded into the ground.
    8. Setting close to fencing absolutely insured coyotes and critters will wrap up in the fence itself. Many, many property owners don’t like fence wire torn from posts because a tough customer tangled a couple strands before succumbing to the snare pressure.
    9. I strongly recommend looking at the RUclips snaring videos of Dale Billingsley, Robert Waddell, Clint Locklear and others who have many years of experience.
