How To Set Coyote & Fox Snares (In A Fence)

  • This is how I set my Coyote and fox snares in fence lines. I usually try and find a spot where I know the are using to go through the fence, ie trail. If I can I try and enlarge the "hole" in the fence that they are using by cutting a horizontal wire out, making a larger hole. By making the hole bigger makes them use that particular spot more often. I then wire my snare either to the fence it self or to a drag pole. Try to not walk in the trails of the K9's to hang the snares, go a few yards up the trail then cut in to the spot, thus making less disturbance.

New to trapping so bare with me. Where do coyotes typically like to travel along? I’m snaring on 200 acres of land which is mostly woods and 3 decent sized sloughs. The woods have multiple four wheeler trails throughout the area and multiple heavily trafficked deer trails but I can’t seem to find tracks on either. I’ve only found tracks on 2 of the sloughs but I cannot figure out where they’re coming in and where they’re leaving. Are they possibly taking the deer trails? I know they like to take fence lines but unfortunately there isn’t any. I’m in Minnesota by the way. I’d appreciate any advice you can give me. Thank you for your time! Great video!
