Shannon Sharpe has been a huge proponent of the notion that Lebron James is the NBA GOAT (Greatest of All Time). It has been changing over the years with Shannon as a few years back he can be seen and heard that it was MJ.
Here in this video we can witness Shannon be schooled by players such as Allen Iverson and Ron Artest who played with Jordan, James and Kobe as well. Even Mark Jackson chimes in, Jamal Crawford and an unusual suspect at the end.

@@madblkmanonbullshit7765 As someone who watch Bill Russell to LeBron James, there is no GOAT because you can’t compare players who played in different eras. When will this stupid comparison of players who never played against each other end? The MT Rushmore argument is ridiculous as well. Jordan said this himself .Different rules, training, equipment and social issues makes it impossible to definitely say that one player is better than another. I am a old head and this constant worshiping of Jordan is past ridiculous. These same people were saying the same thing about the late Kobe Bryant after he won his fifth ring. Jordan fanboys and sycophants came out with their jump man poms poms trying to diminish the accomplishments of another great player who passed a milestone. I am not a fan of any particular player, I have enjoyed watching all of the greats. LeBron James has exceeded all expectations coming straight out of high school and the shade thrown at this man hints in pettiness, envy and jealousy. It can’t be nothing else. THIS!!! That's what today's casual fan doesn't understand about the game. EVERYBODY can score easy in today's NBA because you can't make contact with players like you could years ago. When you have to compete for position against an arm, or a knee at your back or slapping the hand, an elbow in your rib cage...it all wears you down over the course of a game. Players literally run right to the rim with no effort at all. And they call today's players better than those of the past?

Jordan averaged 37 a game in the 86-87 season. Why does Jordan need the 3 ball to average 40 if he was playing now Mr. Sharpe? Jordan's midrange was deadly. His first step, devastated opponents. People forget, that later on in his career Jordan was a proficient 3 point shooter. He could average 50 in today's game if that's what he wanted to do, and no one could stop him.

Ask yourself this Mr. Ignorant.... If Jordan was so great at scoring why did he need an All Star to get out of the 1st round? Jordan never won a Playoff series until he had Pippen, but Pippen has gone to 2 WCF without him. Jordan has never won anything without Pippen except for the Rookie of the Year award. He and Kobe both had a combined 13 coaches and only found success with the great shrink Phil Jackson. You trying to tell me that they are better players than LeBron? FUK OFF!!!!! LeBron is the Greatest Player ever.... Facts!!! Look at his coaches... He has had 7 coaches and has taken 5 to the Finals with 3 being Rookie Head Coaches. LeBron has also taken all of the Franchises he's played for to the Championship. Jordan has playe for 2 Franchises and was a stain in Washington. In LeBrons' 17th season he took LA to the Finals and won. Year 15 Jordan was a muppett in the league and made the All Star game with numbers far less than LeBron in his Rookie year but still made the All Star team. LeBron is the only player in the Most Competitive Era to never miss the Finals in his PRIME!!

Its getting in the "if" area, as LeBron fans so much love...well, regarding that, my "if" is that if Jordan played in todays era, he would improve his 3s shot, in such a way he would be one of the best 3 pointers out there...but yeah, he wouldnt need it, he would destroy every defence, they would only get the chance of throwing him to the free throws, where is not even an "if", since he was already so great at it in his days...even better when the games were on the line...

could Jordan average 40 or more points today? well, it depends. A lot of elite scorers could do that. The real question ain't that. The real question is if jordan could average that amount of ppg in a winning culture, playing for a contending franchise, and the answer is no. Could jordan average 40 ppg, maybe more, yes? but he wont be winning any championship. He would be fighting for the 7th or 8th seed. This same reasoning applies to a lot of scorers including Kobe, Harden, Lebron, Durant, and many others.

Not to mention he didn't and still wouldn't need the 3 to average 45; but if he keaned in to the modern game and taking 5 to 10 3's per game, he potentially averages 55-65 ppg ; P.S. if anyone needs to be refreshed, Kobe , matched up against James plenty of times and did just fine on both sides of the ball, so, Jordan... is going to be a juggernaut and beast , whether 2000 rookie year or 2010 rookie years. MJ as a Rookie through his Prime, would also have more longevity due to the game and the switch towards projecting the offense & contact. So from 12 seasons to 18 or 20 maybe a couple more?

Lead the ACC in 3 point shooting year before he joined the NBA and for damn sure that competitive animal would adapt his scoring methods to whatever or whoever he perceived to be competition to him… personally I think a prime Jordan in this era figures out how to lock down and subdue 3pt slingers and he’s right up there with them if not leading. They don’t want to hear it, but they must not have been paying attention to what kind of animal he was. I don’t think he would need a 3pt shot either, but if anyone even whispered that his 3ball was weak… oh man, we all know how that would end… yep, on RUclips along with all the other stories of when Jordan destroyed whoever for saying whatever.

Which opens up the court so much is almost impossible to defend anything. Especially when you can’t even touch someone because of rules. So everyone’s putting 50 up. Teams only play zone defense 2-4% of the time now and everyone stands around on the perimeter waiting to shoot the 3 ball. This makes it easier to get to the lane. There's no 7 footer waiting at the rim to contest. When Mike played he had to beat 2-3 defenders to get to the rim and then dunk on a 7 footer or make an acrobatic. Layup.

    2. If they were close friends with a GOAT candidate and didnt pick them they couldnt be accused of betrayal because nobody would ever know

“And 1” is MJ’s three point shot.
What Shannon doesn’t understand is that “score by going to the free throw line” can create far more damage than shooting 3 because you score while you putting your defender into foul trouble at the same time.
It was so often to see MJ end up 20+ Free throw attempt during his 37 average points/per game season. That means there were 10+ foul to the opposite defenders who try to guard Jordan which will result 2 foul out.
This would give the other team pressure not to guard Jordan too closely to avoid the foul out.
3 points shooters would never give defenders pressure like this because defenders would just put their hand up when the shooters shoot.
Unlike MJ, he mostly would attack the paint and the defenders either end up an ugly “And 1” or step away and let him score to avoid foul out.

he averaged 37 a game without a 3 ball and with how lax the defense is today, MJ would easily kill the midrange to 40.

Watching Luka Doncic is like watching Jordan in slow motion, he plays the same way and he just scored 60-21-10 in this era. Jordan now would be like Luka now plus 20-30%, so 50 points a game would be easy.

Bron went to Miami to win rings. MJ comes to Miami and he sees his number retired in the heats area. Think about that. They retired MJs number in Miami

I can't believe this is still a real argument. They had to beat him up to slow him down. He'd have more freedom to drive with no hand checks he'd dance on everyone. Adding in a 3 ball wouldn't be reinventing.

With the defensive 3 seconds in the lane rule, Jordan would have 20 layups / dunks per game to get 40.

You wouldn't want Jordan shooting 3's because with his work ethic and fire he would hit 10 a night. Jordan would score at will in this game. Bird, Magic, Isiah Thomas same thing. You can argue all you want the new gen is bigger, faster, better trained blah blah blah. Maybe true but its the size of the heart, team pride and love of the sport that made the older dudes so great. Nowadays bench warmers are making 15 mil a year its crazy.
