I don't think the training is limited to being alive. Rey was able to commune with past Jedi so I believe that when someone dies and becomes part of the cosmic force, and existing ghost can train them to manifest themselves.
I always figured that was the case. That he, like Yoda, did face the dark side version of himself and defeated it with the help from Luke and thus qualified. And I also think being literally being conceived through the force gives him a leg up too
I've always assumed Obi-Wan or Yoda helped Anakin retain his consciousness after he died. On Wookieepedia, Yoda is listed as Anakin's "force spirit teacher," (I assume from reference material in the past) which made me think for a long time that Yoda himself walked Anakin through the process of becoming one with the Force by providing that anchor for him. I still think that's true but I like the idea that both Obi-Wan and Yoda helped a redeemed Anakin become one with the Force as they had and achieve life after death, which Anakin then uses to attone for his time as Vader when he can. His spirit returns to Mustafar to help some Rebels who ended up trapped in Vader's Castle by his former attentant Vanee and he guides them to safety, even if they don't fully know what's happening and dismiss the idea of ghosts existing but I really like that Anakin uses these new abilities he has gained to do good and make up for what he did as Vader and that's possibly what we may see in Ahsoka. It's great that he helps strangers but aiding Ahsoka would be a chance to right the wrongs he did to someone he knew and was close to in life, something I think would really add to his redemption and becoming Anakin Skywalker once again.
I’m hoping that the Well Spring of Life plays a significant role in the Dawn Of the Jedi movie. Maybe this is where the prime Jedi went to when learning about the Force.
My thoughts has always been the weeks, days and hours before Vader took a deep look into the force and saw the others who died spirite and ask for their forgiveness, them when they his plead for forgiveness they gave it to him after they saw the old Anakin was there, thus allowing him to become a force ghost.
0:58 And yet he didn't tell Luke about his Wayfinder on Mustafar while he was looking for Exegol and none of the Force Ghosts appeared to Luke until TLJ. Has Canon explained either of those yet (asking out of genuine curiosity)? At least in Legends it was mentioned that they didn't help guide Luke in rebuilding the Jedi because (at least for Obi Wan) it was either becoming more inconsistent for them to appear or time for them to finally move beyond the physical realm completely.
The book Shadow of the Sith had a moment that showed why Anakin couldnt help Luke Spoilers for the book Luke was stuck in a Vision world where he couldnt harm his attackers but they could kill him. Anakin's force ghost showed up and used all of his will and power to fight and return Luke but faded away before he could say much to Luke, and it was only until the end of the book that Luke learned the wayfinders and Exegol existed.
I don't think your training needs to be done before you die. We already know from The Rise of Skywalker that you can connect with long dead Jedi who never underwent the training and Force ghosts can already cross between the cosmic force and physical realm. I believe that Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon were able to teach Anakin as part of the cosmic force. This also gets around the idea that he had to balance this training and a conversation with Luke at some time within a few minutes.
I think George Lucas's reasoning for Anakin returning as "Episode III" Anakin was something along the lines of only Jedi being able to do it, and his Force Ghost appearance was that of "the last time he was good." Even though technically the last time he was good was when he saved Luke and sacrificed himself about 25 years after the events of Episode III. Granted, I have somewhat limited knowledge of the canon outside of the movies, but my headcanon was that he returned as Hayden-Anakin by his choice.
Right after the special editions came out, an older friend told me (I think it was her head canon) that Anakin’s “good side” hadn’t aged while he was Vader
In the Kenobi Series, during final fight, before the line 'Goodbye Darth' vader said that he had killed Anakin.. might be loosely tied with "killed by a sith" rule and thus Anakin become the Force ghost
Know what? If I was Obi Wan and I felt responsible for Anakin and Darth Vader and he struck me down and I became a force ghost? I’d HAUNT his ass into the light side of the force. 20 years of “HELLO THERE” in my ear 24/7 and I’d be giving up dark side powers too! :D
This is what happened with Ahsoka during episode 5, when Anakin Skywalker trained her by teaching her one mor lesson, "Live, or Die." Obi-Wan Kenobi gave Anakin the same choice!
I'm always a sucker for Anakin anyway but it is kinda emotional and actually shows growth- despite what others think. The fact that he decided to stay as a force ghost to help others at all shows that. With the "all living things" having a connection, he could have went straight to trying to find Padme but he didn't, etc. (As far as we know anyway.)
Anakin became a Force Ghost without any training because the Force will it so! It would make sense that the Force would grant him this favor, this boon. We've seen that the Force has a will of it's own --- especially when we've seen Kanan Jarrus' damaged eyesight be restored one last time just to be able to see the woman he loves before he died in "Rebels". And since everything returns to the Cosmic Force after death, the Force Ghosts there can continue that training --- as we have now seen Qui-Gon Jinn do in "Obi-wan Kenobi" where he continued to learn to attach his identity to his persona to appear in physical form. I think the WBW exists between the Cosmic Force and the Living Force and Force Ghosts use it to be able to project themselves into the Living Force through the portals created there (which could be different for each FG). Ezra sort of "projected" himself into the scene with Ahsoka when she was fighting Darth Vader to yank her into the WBW, to us it looked like Ezra saved her, but in reality she was always going to live through that encounter.
I've always thought that to become a force ghost one more or less has to die at a moment of their choosing or least stop resisting death when it its inevitability is very near. At that moment your heart and mind need to be filled with love and truth or while correcting a wrong of your past. So, Obi Wan died when he saw Luke and Leia together again for the first time since their birth and knowing that they were about to escape while facing off against his biggest mistake. Yoda died after revealing the truth of Luke's family and acknowledging his own failure vs the emperor, while knowing that Luke would pass on what he had learned. Anakin died when we returned to his true self and acknowledge that Luke was right while looking at his son for the first time with his own eyes. It has to be a truth that you don't want to reveal but know you have to that way we don't have force sensitive people hiding secrets with the intent of revealing it at the end so they can become a force ghost. There's probably some additional self realization that has to take place in the time following one's corporeal death before they can come back to help those who are still alive. Part of that self realization is knowing what your true form should be, which for Anakin is his pre-Vader form.
I’ve always just figured his being a child of the Force was enough. And enough for the whole Skywalker lineage. I know, as fans, we sometimes want some kind of technical, video game mechanics answer. But with Anakin and his kids and grandkid… yeah. Pretty straightforward.
I think there's hints of Vader struggling with all the bad stuff he did, but I wish it was a more visible part of the character to feel that he didn't go straight from killing kids to Star wars heaven
@@kseniaboytseva4714 I get what you say and I think when you look the whole thing, you're right, but I still believe killing children was a bad creative decision when he ends the story as a good guy.
@@sebastianpiriz It would be worse if the children fell at the hands of clones or someone scarier than the dark lord. Moreover, they could fall into the hands of the imperials by becoming inquisitors, military or other puppets of Palpatine. Although I agree, Palpatine could not have killed them, but recruited and trained them as his henchmen with basic Jedi knowledge and lack of attachments instead of wanting to lure the untrained Luke to his side. By the way, after order 66, Sidious came to his senses and ordered the inquisitors to search for and take away force-sensitive children for further education.
So if it takes specialized training to retain a Jedi’s consciousness in the Force, what was the deal with all the voices Rey heard at the climax of E9? The one’s telling her she’s “all” the Jedi.
It seems as if he truly has replaced the father at this point. The way he fought Ashoka. Giving into the darkness and still in control. Easily going back to the light. He’s the master of both sides now. He creates balance.
Something it's important to remember when considering how Anakin can undergo this training in the time between dying and appearing on Endor is that time is meaningless in the Cosmic Force. It could have taken what to us would have been a decade, but in the Cosmic Force, it's not "time" at all, until he projects himself into the galaxy of life.
i like to think in the aftermath of the galactic civil war, luke spent the next few years traveling the galaxy doing his best to rectify every atrocity his father committed (in addition to jedi training, of course).
At least in Legends continuity, he didn't actively seek any specific atrocity to rectify. Not because he didn't want to, but partly because he simply didn't know everything Anakin did in his 23 years as Vader. Rather, most unresolved problems caused by Vader usually found Luke. And partly because, due to many post-ROTJ stories being published before the prequels, the pre-OT era was mostly off-limits for exploration, so Luke and his allies mostly faced entirely new threats. And while the 30-year gap between ROTJ and his death has barely been explored in the current Canon, most stories heavily imply he constantly disappeared from public view for long periods of time traveling the galaxy in search of Jedi artifacts, temples and lore to recover. And even after he began restoring the Jedi Order with Ben Solo as his first student, they remained mostly isolated on Ossus and uninvolved with New Republic efforts to rebuild the galaxy. But I also like to think the Force has guided him to find atrocities to rectify along the way.
It is possible that time works differently in life after death and Anakin visited the wellspring of life. Or maybe the wellspring of life is connected to the world between worlds, making it possible for him to go and learn the skill and arrive back in time for the Ewok celebration.
my question is how did episode VI show anakin skywalker (younger version) from the year 2005 (episode III), like he would have been a kid or much younger at the time episode VI was made
Except for Revan's controversial case in The Old Republic MMO, it's never been a thing that Force users who had walked on both the light and the Dark Side could manifest multiple Force Ghosts based on each of their aspects. You either manifest with the entirety of your being, or you don't. Also, only those who have either never strayed from the light or have at least redeemed themselves after having fallen to the Dark Side have the potential to become true Force Ghosts. While there are cases of Sith Lords who managed to keep their spirits alive through alchemy, sacrificial rituals, etc., they are entirely confined to Force-imbued objects or places that, if destroyed, will erase said spirits from existence. Which doesn't make them true Force Ghosts because, since they defied nature itself by bending the Force to their will, they don't become one with the Force. And without the Force, you can't exist.

I think The Life And Legend of Obi-Wan Kenobi addresses this. Just before he dies, Obi-Wan communicates with Anakin and teaches him how to preserve his life after death and become a Force Ghost. He probably faced his dark side when he threw Palpatine into the Death Star and sacrificed himself for Luke. He conquered his demons in that moment.

Anakin is shown to be young as he regained his past self before becoming a dark lord. Kenobi's age has not changed since his life was not divided into two parts. Although the ghosts of the force decide for themselves what they look like.
He shouldnt be, he would have failed every trial yoda faced - the only explanation i could offer would be similar to Fulgrim in Warhammer, when he was corrupted the demon that possessed him took control of his body and locked away his soul. Similar to this case, Anakins force spirit could have been split into light and dark, Anakin/Vader. Anakin (cast down into the world between worlds) and Vader, the corrupted part of his spirit took control of his body. Anakin, while in world between world had training from Yoda - and as the battle with Sidious culminated, Anakins spirit reclaimed the body and could transition into a force ghost.

Since Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon we’re both aware that Anakin had a higher affinity in the Force via the Midichlorian count, I always Theorized that Anakin could have easily tapped into highly advanced abilities as long as he had the proper teachers aiding him when learning about them. Unfortunately, the Council’s uncertainties made it nearly impossible for Anakin to tap into his fullest strengths. Also, I firmly believe that Anakin, had he been trained more thoroughly, would have been one of the first to interact with Qui-Gon’s Force Ghost aside from Yoda and later Obi-Wan. Something I wish could have been proven true in the Movies specifically in Revenge of the Sith.
They didn't make it up it's from an official story and I highly doubt they are going to explain how he became a force ghost in the next episode when people have known that for 40 years because they actually have to explain the WBW.

Something I wish could have been proven true in the Movies specifically in Revenge of the Sith.
dude calm down the jabber..
You seriously need to wait 2 days for the actual episode to drop instead of making random sh*t up that is going to be wrong.
They didn't make it up it's from an official story and I highly doubt they are going to explain how he became a force ghost in the next episode when people have known that for 40 years because they actually have to explain the WBW.
@@Jogproofit’s all made up, genius 😂
@@amdi8966 Yes I am aware.
Hey man can you please not put a massive spoiler in the thumbnail? People who want to go in blind to Ashoka don’t want it spoiled
You need to be straightened out 😂
Anakin CAME from the force, "there was no father", how are people not getting this.
He's literally space Jesus from Christian mythology.
Only worse with dumber fans 😂
