    Hi Roger, wanted to say hi and I hope all is well with you. Sort of the off season here in Michigan for trap. But never an off season for learning.
    Looking forward to you next video gem

    Just like hitting a golf ball over water. I don't look where I "don't" want the ball to go, I look where I want my ball "to" go. Now that I'm shooting trap I need to start "believing" that I'm going to hit every target. Easier said than done sometimes but as usual your lessons are spot on. Thanks

    Great video and advice as always Roger. Seems my biggest problem is blocking out distractions and my own confidence. I find when I go in the trap, a lot of people will stand around to watch. Of course they all have their advice to give me too. The last two times at the range, I didn't even want to use my shot gun because of this. My son is still averaging 24/25. On another note, I've started to enjoy silhouette targets from a standing position rather than just shooting paper from a bench. Not many people go to that part of the range so I enjoy the quiet time for myself to practice and I do quite well. Thanks again for a great video. :-)

      Tracy...yes it would be annoying to have a lot of people watching and giving advice...glad to hear you are enjoying the silhouette targets...but don't give up on trap. Glad your son is shooting well. Good on you!

      Tracy...i think they watch you because your nice and they just want to help...you know the alpha male thing helping the hapless woman...yes it's hard because you don't want to say not to watch and not to give you advice.

    It's always good to see a video from you Roger. I'll be reviewing this video as well as re-watching some of your earlier ones going forward. I also want you to know that you have helped me tremendously with things like:
    See Bird Shoot Bird
    Changing things in a slump.
    Super Cleaning
    Eezy-Peezy
    Fit
    Analyzing Hits
    I just need to work on my consistency of technique. When I get sloppy my score declines significantly. For me, sloppy starts with my trigger hand grip as that is where I notice things going awry first. If I grip semi firmly, I stay focused. Next I'm moving on to keeping a score sheet now that I'm getting more serious.
    So I did have an experience this winter which I'll describe as "wind in my face..." on a -6C day. It was a wild round(s) - fun actually since I knew it would be challenging. I thought of your saying "... the gun's in the case."
    I shoot a Citori 725 Sporting with an adjustable comb. As near as I can tell it's Browning's Beretta in how slim it is compared to the previous 425, 525, 625... Superposed. I really like it - the DS choke tubes are outstanding in how they seal. You'd know it as the B725. The US uses a slightly different set of names in the Browning product line apparently... different offerings too...
    Thanks for all your help Roger.
    Ron

    Hi Roger,
    Picked up some good good tips from your videos.
    My scores have steadily improved lately.
    I got a 24/71 followed by a 24/72 a few months back.
    A few weeks ago I was pleased to get a 25/71. 1st time I got them all.
    My over and under needed a service so it's been away for two weeks so no shooting.
    Sunday just gone I got my first 25/75 - with my pump action!

    Hi Roger,
    One thing you might want to add is that since our ears never stop growing one must buy new custom plugs every couple of years. There are many shooters that never do. You can easily spot them at my club, they are the ones yelling at everyone ;) thank you for all the videos and please do more.

    Hello Roger, I found your videos before our State Shoot in Michigan last weekend. I have been in Trap Shooting for just one year at a limited exposure. My mentor is Art “Pop” Turner from Guns and Bows in Morrice, MI. Pop is an excellent teacher and my first time out ever with a shotgun I ran 15 straight. Pop wanted to know if I had ever done this before, I had not. So I had 200 registered targets last year and I had not shot since May 15th 2017. Prior to the State Shoot last weekend, Pop got me out at his club and I had 100 targets, 18, 19,21, 22. Not bad but rusty, so off we went to the State Shoot. My first day was not that great, Pop offered some schooling after the day was done. The next day I wanted to do better, I found your videos and you echoed Pops teachings. It all must have sunk in, on the second 25 I really wanted to buckle down and thought wouldn’t it be great if I could go clean on Pop’s squad. I got to the 5th station still clean, one shot at a time, repeated one shot at a time, Pop always says 24 is easy, the 25th is a bit harder. I kept it together and busted the 25th clean. I was very excited and I cannot wait to they shoot my hat next week at the club. Thank you for your videos, they are very logical and helpful. And thank you to my Pop, who was surprised as my squad and said, “I didn’t think you were good enough yet to bust 25 clean”. Typical Pop, that’s why I love him.

    Fantastic video...
    Most people defeat themselves in their mind... I have witnessed this thousands of times on the Trap course. In Canada where I shoot ATA trap and doubles trap people psych themselves out and I have been victim of this too. You have to practice both physically with muscle memory and mentally for consistency. I have shot dozens of perfect rounds in both single and double trap and those only happen when your muscle memory and your mind are working in sync. The other thing I've noticed is that people are scared to push themselves into proper thought train. You have to step outside your comfort zone in order to improve. I shoot alot in practice and competition and the people I notice improving push themselves far past what they believe they could do. I have trained several folks who from the point of never holding a shotgun to the point of consistently having rounds of 22 or better. Some people just have a natural knack for it and some people that takes a lot of work. The other thing I've noticed is people are afraid to dish out the proper amount of money for Quality firearms designed for the clay sport they choose to participate in and they skimp and this ends up costing them because they have a tendency to choose one firearm or another and then blame it on the firearm instead of getting proper advice and buying quality from the beginning and learning with that firearm. People underestimate just about everything about the clay Sports.

      Gun mount suggestion... stand in front of the mirror and practice mounting the gun do this dozens of times a day for three days of the week. This will help you and show you your faults...guaranteed improvement!

  • @timeverett7828
    @timeverett7828 6 лет назад +1

    Howdy Roger! Well yesterday I did something I didn't anticipate... I shot a 50 straight in doubles. That's good in all but I wasn't anticipating it. As a matter of fact I wasn't even feeling up to being on the Trap course yesterday. Funny thing about the Trap Sports is one day you can be all hyped up feeling good ready to participate to your best ability and shoot craps scores either in ATA events or practice rounds. And other days you can be feeling less than perfect and do amazing. Still baffles me why that is but my theory is repetition thought pattern and muscle memory account for success on those days when you may not feel like being there. But true devotees to the clay Sports go even when they don't feel like it.

    Never understood Length of pull & the 2 inch rule between your knuckle of your hand & the tip of your nose. I've seen a gold medalist Alex Rennert, he mounts his face very close to the barrels. Can you please do a video Roger about length of pull. Thanks so much. Best wishes

    I'm here in America and shoot trap. One question. Both eyes open or one? I prefer one open as I just cannot shoot with both open no matter how much I practice it. What are your thoughts?

    • @rogerpace9322
      @rogerpace9322  5 лет назад

      If you are shooting well with one eye ...then stick with it but if you are not happy with your scores then try both eyes open...it will be strange at first but it could improve scores...stay well!
