I work in a shop that has CNC mills and lathes, drill presses, waterjets, laser cutters and 3D printers, but I love how you made do with the tools you had access to, I especially like how you used the drill press as a vertical lathe, kudos…Subscribed
That would be very interesting, would need some research of the tools available at the time in the field tho. Won't be impossible because with the right components most of the process would be made with some files and soldering tin
James Hightower i dont know if this helps or not but the spot where he put the lighter striker on if you watch when hes making that part you can see he puts another hole underneath the striker wich is where the sping and "flint" sit
What liquid did you use? And is it alcohol? What kind of alcohol is it? But isn't it risky to use alcohol for lighters? How long has it been I know alcohol immediately spreads and could explode.
can you give a step to step tutorial or write a step to step tutorial in the description pls and a list of things what you need like the caliber of the bullet casing
Hi! The only reason i don't usually make tutorial is because my projects usually involve machinery that not everyone has access to, and if someone does, they surely know better than me how to make this kind of stuff! I'll definitely put explanations in the next videos, and i'll think about making some step by step tutorial in the future Thanks for your suggestions
What would you charge for one? I'd like to buy one for memory of grandfather who passed away 2 days ago and want to put one with his burial when he's cast at sea..
Erm...rite I don't like seeing pillar drills being used as milling machines or lathes...as the quill bearing setup isn't designed to take radial pressure and you really need a more secure tool hold than just relying on a MT... This is why milling machines have drawbolts... But in all fairness it was a nice, easy watching video on how to achieve a result with very basic hand tools and a small drill press... 👍

I did use indeed 90° alcohol, you could use ethanol, gasoline, methanol or any other volatile inflammable liquid you can think of ( i even used perfume in one of my other lighters, and it worked ) So pretty good as an emergency lighter! I don't know if it's there any risk of explosion tho, any of those liquids i mention don't burn so fast that it will cause a significant pressure rise inside the chamber, so i'd be pretty sure to say that explosion isn't likely.

That lathe work came out better than I thought it would. I subscribed just for that
never thought of using a drill press as a lathe. nice
ARTYOM WHERE DID YOU GET SUCH A NICE LIGHTER
Really neat video. Its amazing how simplistic a lighter really is.
Awesome. Now reconstruct the lighter the way soldiers would construct them in the field.

drill press lathe. love it lol
very nice craftwork. Still trying to figure out where the flint goes. But ill watch this again.

Flint goes under the wheel. Spring goes under the flint. This makes the flint rub against the wheel
I like how you work with what you have

Matsuda Industries oh btw just a note using alcohol IS kind of risky but all you have to do is make sure there isn’t a very good seal
