Your videography skills have really blossomed since your earlier videos (which I also really enjoyed), but these later ones are so much more colorful and have a real warmth to them. Thanks for sharing your adventures. You've really grown as a storyteller
THANK YOU FOR GETTING BACK TO ME! INTERESTING NEVER HEARD OF THAT BEFORE! AWESOME VIDEOS LIKE ALWAYS! ALWAYS LEARNING NEW THINGS WHEN WATCHING THEM! BE SAFE! HAVE FUN! GOD IS WITH YOU'LL ALL ALWAYS! ENJOYED!
As much as I love watching you nerd out in your lil diy mancave, I have to say this conent blows all your recent work out of the water. Excellent job Joe A+++
Sinatra here, PCT Class of 2015 and TA 2017/18. Met you under a bridge just south of Drakesbad. Just wanted to say your videos are rad man, keep up the good work.
Thx so much for posting this! We just got back from doing this hike!!!!incredible...blows everything I’ve done out of the water! The gps files helped so much!
I watched all your CDT videos awhile back and decided I had to visit the wind rivers. Just the other day I came out all the way from Seattle and hiked Titcomb basin. My 3rd time ever backpacking and by far my farthest hike. Thanks for making your videos!
i looooooooove how these videos are so "silent", that there's no voice commenting on what's happening every second of the way, we just calmly follow you along.
Whoa! I mean no offense Joe but, your videos are really good now! Your videography, music and editing are all top notch! Of course you've always had superb content and locations. More like these please. Me likey!!!
Hi Joe...new to your channel. Not much to say at present other than enjoyed them wild flowers up top. Good going - awe inspiring. Can't eclipse this one. Mark
The Winds. My favorite place on earth. Glad to see you got to get back to it and enjoy it! I am a bit surprised how many cars are there. Last time I was there was 2004. Glad to see you're doing well.
My wife and I ran into you between the Green River Lakes. I'd have loved to talk longer but I could see you and your buddies were on a mission. I was pretty nonchalant when you asked me about my AT experience last year. I didn't get to tell you how it only dominates my thoughts and memories. I've always wanted to ask you what it's like to be a triple crowner and have 3 big thru-hikes kicking around in your head!
Hey! It was nice seeing you out there. I'm in the same boat as you. The trails dominate my thoughts and memories (and even feelings sometimes.) But now I'm at a point where living a normal life is hard to do when I know there are so many trails to hike and adventures to be had. I just want to thru hike all the time and choosing to not do so is the hardest choice I make in life haha. Luckily, trips like this really help me quell those feelings.
Awesome video! This hike looks fantastic. I am in Los Angeles and just document local hikes but I want to branch out and start traveling more to other destination hikes :) I subbed.... and looking forward to more vids.
Nice vid. Looking forward to part 2! I clicked on the video thinking it was on the Skurka/Bakwin/Burrell's version of WRHR, as I plan to do the route soon. Confusing with (at least) two different routes with a same name. I think we hikers should start referring to Dixon/Wison's WRHR as western WRHR, since both of its termini are west of the divide and Skurka/Bakwin/Burrel's WRHR, with its termini east of the divide, as eastern WRHR.
Hope to see you with the new crown v2 by granite gear.....I purchased this pack off your recommendation 👍🏽👣👣👣👣🏔 and as always this video was awesome 👍🏽👍🏽
Hi Joe, awesome scenery and video. I have to ask if you've been given a new trail name as I've yet to see an Apache cultivate the "Custer" look you've got going! Gary Perth Australia
awesome to hear. after hearing some feedback on youtube, I got a bit concerned about wind performance (even with a windscreen) but sounds like it's a non issue for you
Backcountry Banter Thanks for replying! I am planning on doing this route next year around the same time and your videos are the best for this route hands down. You capture the experience so well. Appreciate you sharing your journey. Helps us who are looking to take the same road!
Hey Joe. What camera did you use to film this video with? The quality is excellent and was just a pleasure to watch. Thanks for the videos. Keep them coming.
Hey, Joe (or anyone who knows), what's that white tarp at 25:30? Looks like a DCF cat cut tarp with an attached beak. I've been thinking about a cuben tarp, but I haven't seen that one before. Doesn't look like anything made by Zpacks, HMG, MLD, or Yama. Who makes it?
Hey Stu Minnis, That is my Yama Mountain Gear Cirriform 1P Tarp made with the 0.8 oz cuben . I hiked the PCT and CDT with it and it is still going strong!
Josiah Cilladi Thanks. I didn't really look that hard at that one because of the $ plus I was a little worried about condensation with 360 degree coverage. Looks like you leave a bottom gap in your pitch though. How's the ventilation on it?
what month were you hiking in? There is still quite a bit of snow on the ground, so just curious where in the season you were at. I am looking doing this route late August / early Setepmerb and just trying to get a sense on how much snow might be on the ground
Hurricane Irma fast approaching, winds at 150 mph and we are about to lose power and signal... This will probably be our last transmission from deep within the Florida Everglades! If you so not hear back from us by 9/10/2017, please send help to ....... Signal lost!
That's called watermelon snow. It's an algae that grows on the snow and turns it a reddish/pink color. Apparently it can cause some serious stomach issues if eaten, or so I've heard.
Joe I have been following you since your AT hike. And have just now ran across this video I've been kinda absent from youtube for a while? What pack are you using these days? I went frameless a couple years ago (MLD) and love it!
When did you do this hike? I have a trip planned to hike it in the last week of June but i'm unsure if it'll be hike able with the snow that early in the season. Awesome vid BTW!
The snow was probably not fresh, but haven't thawed from the last winter(2016/17 winter made a "high snow year" in US mountains) + as you can check in topo maps there are glaciers everywhere, so in some places snow is everlasting. However, like in every high mountains, you can expect a snow-fall or snow storm even in the summer.
Same problems here as with the videos from neemorsworld - only this is longer, so problems got even worse: 1. The scenery is not boring enough. 2. The camera angles are not awkward enough. 3. The camera got not enough vibrations or shaking. 4. An average YT consumer may be overwhelmed with the story telling, as everything seems to be so logical, like flowing. 5. The music matches the scenery much too well (see the master commenting on music in videos: ruclips.net/video/oCiYZpx28Ig/видео.html) and not even one second of wind noise! 6. The persons in the video don't swear enough and don't behave rude enough in general, there is not even bragging. 7. Nobody got insulted, no aggressive dogs, no guns, no cars, even the women don't show enough skin. 8. No crime, no pets and not even one interesting product placement (nobody buys The north face anyways) - not even religion! 9. Special effects (IG photos, maps) are mounted to the rest way too natural. In other words, the entire video and the editing is offensive for 99,99 % of all YT producers. They will never be able to film and edit something as half as decent.
#JB - I've got an idea for your 3D printing to make a million. A lightweight (of course) adapter that converts the smart water bottle size opening to the Katadyn BeFree opening so that it can be used with the 28mm openings of the vast majority of bottles available. Just be sure and mail me a protype when you're done. You're welcome!
I'll admit the pop-tarts are garbage, but they are a guilty pleasure for me in the backcountry. Most of the other food was actually pretty decent though, I'd say. It definitely tended toward the carbs, but Iv'e found that to be a good thing when I'm backpacking.
ENJOYED!
The production quality of this video is out of this world!
Thanks a lot!
Maybe the best outdoor video I've ever seen
Woah... thanks!
this video is getting us in the mindset for our own attempt at the High Route this summer! thanks for sharing.
Always a pleasure. Thanks for posting!
As much as I love watching you nerd out in your lil diy mancave, I have to say this conent blows all your recent work out of the water. Excellent job Joe A+++
That eclips was bad ass! Love the views. That trek up the rocks looked like a killer. Yay for cooler weather!
Nice! So glad to hear it!
You've come a long way Joe, glad to see you back...
Just beautiful JB!
Awesome video Joe. You've taken it up a notch. Keep on trekking.
I watched all your CDT videos awhile back and decided I had to visit the wind rivers. Just the other day I came out all the way from Seattle and hiked Titcomb basin. My 3rd time ever backpacking and by far my farthest hike. Thanks for making your videos!
Awesome! I'm glad you got a chance to see the beauty of the winds.
Absolutely beautiful!
Awesome job, Joe, keep on hiking!
Very nice! I have always thought your videos were good, but now they are awesome!
Awesome editing dude! You're one of the few people who actually cares enough to put this much effort in. Really appreciate it :)
Great job Joe on the video!
Great video Joe, love it !
GORGEOUS VIEWS!
very nice wind river and camera skill
Best video yet, Joe!
Awesome video! Can't wait for part 2 :D
Amazing editing and what a cool hiking! I'm really envious...
i looooooooove how these videos are so "silent", that there's no voice commenting on what's happening every second of the way, we just calmly follow you along.

this editing is definitely really cool. keep up the good work
Looks like a fantastic time! Loved the footage and fantastic editing :) Can't wait for more episodes
Wow Terrific and Amazing trail!
Whoa... Damn! Hey some awesome scenes, great edit on this Joe :D
Great Video, love the Synth music!! You're killing it bro, love your content and adventures. Keep chasing it!
Cool stuff, Joe! I hike vicariously through your videos.
Nice! Thanks for posting.
Fancy editing there Joe. Thank you!
Fantastic videography!

That's an amazing production mate. Congrats!
Thanks!
great job with the computer animated route and instagram shots worked into the video! keep that in the future if you can!

Whoa!
Loved your video...super cool. I'm going to "acquire" some of your filming techniques! Hahaha. I just spent a week in the Winds and LOVED IT!
Gorgeous footage and excellent quality.
Awesome video! This hike looks fantastic. I am in Los Angeles and just document local hikes but I want to branch out and start traveling more to other destination hikes :) I subbed.... and looking forward to more vids.
Thanks for subscribing!
Do the PNT for your next hike
Nice vid. Looking forward to part 2!

you like to eat i see..dope video man..awesome editing as well..
Hope to see you with the new crown v2 by granite gear.....I purchased this pack off your recommendation 👍🏽👣👣👣👣🏔 and as always this video was awesome 👍🏽👍🏽
Joe for President
Where are the wind River trails at that looks like awesome scenery or creation
This is in Wyoming. They're a little south of Yellowstone and east of the Tetons.
Hi Joe, awesome scenery and video. I have to ask if you've been given a new trail name as I've yet to see an Apache cultivate the "Custer" look you've got going! Gary Perth Australia
Haha, I've been trying to not use Apache anymore, so most people are calling me pooch now. Maybe it's time for a new name though heheh.
#JB - what stove was that at 25:40? Arms look too long to be the BRS, but maybe i'm seeing it wrong...
By the looks of the base and handle it sure looks like a BSR and Joe likes that little stove, small, light, cheap and they work well.
That was the BRS. It's still going strong and I'm super happy with it's performance.
awesome to hear. after hearing some feedback on youtube, I got a bit concerned about wind performance (even with a windscreen) but sounds like it's a non issue for you
Amazing video, man its truly beautiful out there. Great hike. What kinda temps did you encounter during the hike?
Thanks! The temps were actually pretty great. I'd guess 70's in the day and low 40's at night (with the exception of the one below-freezing night.
How bad were the mosquitos when your group hiked this route in late August?
Great videos!
Thanks! They weren’t an issue at all! I was under an open tarp and happy as a clam.
Backcountry Banter
Thanks for replying! I am planning on doing this route next year around the same time and your videos are the best for this route hands down. You capture the experience so well. Appreciate you sharing your journey. Helps us who are looking to take the same road!
Joe, or anyone else out there, what is the 3D Mapping software you use to get those cool flyovers of the route?
Google Earth Pro (bonus: it's free)
Hey I was up in Titcomb for the eclipse! How wild was that?
Nice! It was a once in a lifetime experience in my opinion. To be in such a beautiful place and witness this eerie event.
Hey Joe. What camera did you use to film this video with? The quality is excellent and was just a pleasure to watch. Thanks for the videos. Keep them coming.
Thanks a lot! This was filmed mostly with a Sony a6300 camera with a wide angle (10-18mm) lens.

Hi Joe, did you sleep with your Sawyer filter in your sleeping bag that frosty eve?
Sure did, if it feels like it's gonna get close to freezing at night, I'll throw the filter into the foot of my quilt just to be safe.
It's probably not as scenic but is there plans for a through hike of the NCT?
Not yet, but I'd love to do it!
what month were you hiking in? There is still quite a bit of snow on the ground, so just curious where in the season you were at. I am looking doing this route late August / early Setepmerb and just trying to get a sense on how much snow might be on the ground

WHY WAS THE SNOW PINK ?
That's called watermelon snow. It's an algae that grows on the snow and turns it a reddish/pink color. Apparently it can cause some serious stomach issues if eaten, or so I've heard.
Joe I have been following you since your AT hike. And have just now ran across this video I've been kinda absent from youtube for a while? What pack are you using these days? I went frameless a couple years ago (MLD) and love it!
I'm currently using a DIY pack that I made. On this trip, I was using my old Granite Gear Crown VC 60 though. I still love that pack :)
Joe Brewer I wish I had the skill to do some of the dyi projects! But I dont so I end up supporting cottage companies and that is ok too!
When did you do this hike? I have a trip planned to hike it in the last week of June but i'm unsure if it'll be hike able with the snow that early in the season. Awesome vid BTW!
Thanks! This was in late August.

What month was this?
What software did you use to make shots like at 22:17 to the right? Is that google earth?
It is! Google Earth Pro (which is free) has a movie making function built into it.
#JB - I've got an idea for your 3D printing to make a million. Soon enough...
I thought that scraggly dude was Nope.
Did that girl seriously stare at the eclipse without protection.
You can look at a total eclipse for the duration of the totality without protection. It's an unforgettable experience.
People might help, just remember you are the one who really "make it happen" do as you do THEN people will follow.
Stay away from the red ...
Why do you only eat garbage? With so much waste? You're young and all, but that's a lot of garbage to eat.
