Just from this video, alone, and at 66 years old, I know that I must go and see this place for myself. I've never had a "bucket list," but I do now. You make truly wonderful videos of nature and hiking. Thank you.
@deanxxi, I'm 66, my wife is 65 and along with our daughter, we're avid backpackers and hikers in Colorado. As long as you're in reasonable health and your joints don't give you too many problems, you can hike as well!! The wilderness is calling.
Yep. I’m 66 too and just returned from our annual man hike into the Wind River range. It snowed on us so you may want to schedule your trip for late August 2021.
Well my 66 year old legs held up pretty well when I was there on 6/25/23. Wasn't ready for the high streams, no bridges and if you like the mountains in snow you better be ready for mud. High water made it an out and back hike but it was quite awesome. Put the camera on a rock and ran some video to bring it home. No bears or signs, a few flakes of snow on 6/27. Pretty intense, made me want to climb higher and still processing the experience. Be advised that last ten miles to the Sandy lake trailhead needs a high clearance vehicle. My Accord took 40 minutes and one rock hit the frame. Very few crowds and a zillion lakes to fish in. Was my third backpacking trip there, long hikes in through the foothills coming from the east but would a great feeling to cross through, hike the entire range, just a hassle getting a ride back to your ride.
my wyoming , i have seen a place in my minds eye, a place with splendor that will take your breaths away.... my wyoming .... thank you for taking me to a place i could never see with my own eyes , in the place i call my wyoming ....
Absolutely stunning views on this hike. For a Southern California girl, you hit the trail in an experienced way. Beautiful stils as well as the videos and narrative .....good choice of music too.....Great ! Thanks
I have to add my two cents too. Once again your excellent choice of scenic locations shines through. But it is your "photographer's eye" that makes your video so enjoyable. Who else would be able to see the beauty of tall green grasses waving in the wind!
WOW! WOW! WOW! So majestic! Absolutely stunning! Isn't God AWESOME in His creation! Thank you so very much for taking us along on your travels. I just LOVE it!
Hi Cat! This backpacking adventure was truly stunning and dreamy! Beautiful weather. Green and flowery and snowy too! Thank you for creating this wonderful video and sharing it.
I just wanted to tell you that our videos are SO good, and continue to improve. Everything; the shots you take, soundtrack, the editing, angles, narration, and overall story..... you capture these magical places so well. Your are truly setting a new standard for youtube hiking videos! Great job and thank you for sharing!
I second all of the comments here. This is only the second video of yours I've watched, and they are captivating. I can't improve much on The_Voluntaryist" comments, except to say that catching the sounds of your camp, especially the stove, the wind in the passes, the serenity of your presentation, your choice of music, is the next best thing to being there. Thank you. A lot. Now if someone could invent a way to pipe in those mountain smells.
Catherine Gregory . . thanks for posting . . . I hiked these trails thru the Wind River Range, by the Cirque of the Towers and JackAss Pass, back in October of 1988 . . . Originally, having planned to hike the Tetons, our trip there was thwarted with the continued Yellowstone Fires of '88 . . .those trails had been closed the day before we arrived. Thus, a quick change, back downstate to the Wind River Range . . 6 days of very interesting trails . . .ironically it started raining on us the first morning . .and as we crossed the Continental Divide to the east, that turned into snow . . .lived in snow for 5 days . . . last day out, after crossing back over the divide to the west, a beautiful blue sky day greeted us . . . Sadly, I've never been back to get to see ALL the panoramic views. I do remember all the beautiful natural lakes . . by the scores and scores . . hundreds of them . . .from small half acre ponds to large 200+ acre lakes . . .
Thank you for this. My dad and I backpacked in when I was in 5th grade. We camped at Marms lake and did a day trip up Texas pass. Thanks for the footage which brings back good but challenging memories.
As always enjoyed this video . I particularly like the scenes with mountains reflected in still water. Your mountains are so much different than any around here it is a pleasure to go along on your journeys.👍😄🎩
Definitely the most beautiful video on youtube over the last few years. You are an amazing video artist Catherine. I've watched this video several times before and always so terrific! Love the Wind River Range! Thank you.
Cecil B. DeCatherine! Your photography, music and story are outstanding! Everyone needs to pass information around about your site so you can get the many more subscribers you deserve.
people like us really appreciate your work . you give us a oasis in this world that is not always as peaceful and beautiful . thanks , kudos, God bless you
Thank you for taking the time and care to film and post such restorative beauty. It’s especially healing at a time when we’re being asked to stay in place as much as possible.
Just when we think we have seen the best of the best, Mother Nature surprises us yet again and reminds us to stay humble. Thanks for sharing your adventures with those of us who can no longer trek.
Due to my health I will never get to see these beautiful places in person. When I watch your videos I feel that I am right along beside u. Thanks for touching so many hearts.
Rugged and remote. It reminds me of old forgotten movies somehow. That pass looked so challenging but you two conquered it quite well.Your endurance is amazing! There’s something about a lake when all is still, that begs you to look at all it’s beauty. I can only imagine the temperature changes, the wind changes, the feeling of the air and all the different smells in the air. Even the feeling on your feet and legs as the terrain changes. Just imagine if you were blind....there is still so much here to notice and appreciate. Thank you for such a beautiful video!
I would have to be fishing with my Tenkara back packing pole. Would love having more of the camp site and camp chores in the videos. Camp chit chat when you are with somone is good too.
Catherine, how funny we constantly just miss you and your travel mates by mere days, We just hiked the same area a few days ago. Took our lunch break at the same camp at Diamond Lake and camped at the shhhh....secret lake near Sandy Lake. That mountain range never disappoints. I was a little shocked at the trailhead and the crowds. No secret anything there anymore. Maybe we will have the pleasure of seeing each other on the trail one day. Keep up the good work. Matt n Pam
Sitting here in my home in Sacramento trying to stay out of the thick smoke from all of the forest fires enjoying your video, I have to agree with Greg Chalik, Your photography, music and story are outstanding! 🤗
@@TheHikingChick1 I love your positive attitude but in this case I can't because I'm handicapped. That's why I appreciate these types of videos. Enjoy your hikes and keep up your positivity.
Very nice video. It's awesome you got to experience the different views of the Wind River Range. Just took my kids up to The Cirque. Very cool thanks for sharing
O My. My Dear Catherine, that was absolutely stunning; you have struck-it-rich. I had goose-bumps from the very beginning to the very end; I still do thinking about your latest video at times. Some tech notes: seems like that was the heaviest pack you've ever carried, and it's very clear you've also set up your tent a few times before. Thank You for getting up early and photographing the sun cresting, the shots were breathtaking. Please tell me that you have been recording your vides to an external hard drive or CD disks. One day, while sitting in the back yard around a fire with Family and friends, you are going to wish you could brake them out and watch them. Peace/Love, and continued Graces.
You are absolutely right. It is one of the most beautiful places on earth. I tried hiking there last June, but it kept raining. Got some great pictures in between showers and beautiful pictures of the clouds hugging the mountains. You do such great videos, and this location makes for the best video of them all.
What an amazing wonderful place. Vids such as this take me to places I've never been. Although I know vid does not do places as beautiful as this justice. ...Spots like "Texas Pass" show you just how small you really are in this ever expanding universe. Another wonderful vid. Thank you...keep living the good life, cheers!
Just a beautiful location. The peaks, lakes and meadows are stunning. Im glad you are out there challenging yourself and living life in this gorgeous area. Thanks for the share! ♡♡

Thank you Catherine. Just wanted to say this day a very Merry Christmas to you. Having to stay put right now. Caretaker. Van's geared up and ready to go though and so I'm I. Have a few friends interested in what we do. Have told them to watch your videos. It would motivate them even more to get out there. Happy new year as well and hope to cross paths with you out there one day. Good evening Mam.
That has got to be the most beautiful place on America. That is unbelieveable country. Wow! Thanks for sharing. I am getting too old to hike like that anymore. I tend to hike the easier trails I can get to. I may try the tent thing again if I can get into a nice valley. The Army wore out my knees to get up those mountains. Great video!
Thanks Kat, ever so grateful for your videos. It helped me make a decision to take a month off, next summer, and backpack the Winds. I had a dream of going there and climbing for 3 monthes when I was younger, however never did. Better to just hike it now...
Beautifully done! Was fortunate to see the Cirques on a cold and windy afternoon a while ago, coming up from Jackass Pass on a day hike out of Big Sandy and beyond. I'll go back soon- The Winds are God's Country!
