    This is a short 1-day trip from Bengaluru to Mysore. The places covered as a part of this 1day trip are:
    1. Ranganathaswamy Temple
    2. Mysore Zoo
    3. Mysore Palace Museum
    4. St. Philomena's Church
    5. KRS - Brindavan Gardens
    We had booked this trip from a travel company - in Mysore Holidays. The total trip costed about Rs 6500 including cab services from Bengaluru to Mysore and back to Bengaluru covering all the places we mentioned at the start. We started our journey from Bengaluru around 6:30 am in the morning. We had our breakfast with delicious Dhosa and Idli which costed about Rs 170. It took us around 3 hours to reach Sri Ranganath swamy temple.
    1. Ranganathaswamy Temple - A very ancient temple dedicated to sri ranganathswamy , a form of lord Vishnu. You could find the carvings of the 24 form of lord Vishnu in the pillars of the temple. This is considered the 5 most important shrines for lord Vishnu. The general time to visit 7:30 am to 1:30 am and then from 4 pm to 8 pm. The temple features an incredible architectural marvel curved out of stone. You can find true solace at this place.
    2. Mysore Palace - Mysore is known as the city of palaces. There are a total of 7 palaces here in Mysore however Amba Vilas Palaces is the major attraction here. A truly architectural marvel, so colorful that transports into royalty, Beautiful Mahogany doors, stained colorful glass, beautiful paintings on the ceiling, pillars carved with beautiful design truly makes this a wonder. Take a stroll at the beautiful Mysore Palace. The palace is illuminated with 97,000 lights and can be witnessed between 7 to 8 pm at night.
    The ticket costed Rs 100 for each person. The Mysore palace is one of the most visited palace in India with 6 Million people visiting the palace. It took more than 15 years to build the majestic palaces. The architecture is a blend of Hindu, Mughal, gothic & Rajput styles of architecture.
    It used to be the official residence of the Wadiyar dynasty and the seat of the Kingdom of Mysore. The palace is in the centre of Mysore, and faces the Chamundi Hills eastward. You would require around 1-2 hours to see the royal palace. The Palace is open from 10 am to 5:30 pm.
    How to reach - The nearest airport is Bengaluru Airport which is at a distance of 170 Km and it takes about 4 hours to reach from Bengaluru to Mysore by bus or by car. By Rail you can arrive at the Mysore junction which is about 2 km from the city Centre.
    3. St. Philomena's Church
    This is One of the largest cathedrals in India, St. Philomena’s Cathedral in Mysuru is a tremendous example of finest Gothic architecture.
    The majestic church was built to honour the memory of Saint Philomena, a Latin Catholic Saint of the Roman Catholic Church. St. Philomena’s Cathedral is one of the tallest churches in Asia. Various scenes of 1977 Bollywood movie, ‘Amar Akbar Antony’ featuring Amitabh Bachchan were shot in Mysuru’s St Philomena’s Cathedral. The church is open from 5 am till 8 pm.
    4. Mysore Zoo - This is one of the oldest zoo in India. The zoo is home to 1450 species of animals and 168 species of birds. The Zoo was so well maintained with greenery all around and neat and clean. The ticket price is RS 100 per person. The zoo is closed on Tuesdays. Check out our clicks from Mysore zoo.     5. KRS - Brindavan Gardens - ticket price Rs 50 .
    Spread across an area of 60 acres, Brindavan Gardens is situated at the bottom of the Krishnaraja Sagara Dam (KRS), across the river Cauvery. Modelled on the Shalimar Gardens of Kashmir, the garden entices visitors with its lush green lawns, terraces, flower beds, topiary and multihued fountains. Today, the Brindavan Gardens is world-famous for its ethereal beauty and grandeur. An endless expanse of green, dotted with colourful blooms, the terraced gardens are well laid and admired for their symmetrical design. The highlight for visitors, however, is the famed musical fountain which is a water ballet of sorts, with lights and music and is played every evening for the tourists.
