I got the 55-210mm again. It is cheap and does the job. And, even on full frame, because for me, when I used full frame, I end up cropping so much that a crop lens makes more sense. And it beats carrying big lenses. Lighter the better. It may not be the best thing ever, but it works out well for me in most cases for birds and things.
I'm loving that I've found your reviews on the sony nex cameras. I've been looking into getting into some photography and would love to not spend a ton on it. I'd love to take more nature and wildlife photography. Nex 5t or nex6?
As far as an all-rounder... I tried the Sony Nex super zoom lens, 18-200mm. The original, in silver, has a limiting quality and weighs a lot for an aps-c lens. Although, it was more or less designed for Sony Nex camcorders. The second model, Sony 18-200mm, in black, new body and I think a different lens element design, seems like a better option.
Your videos are great, I just got an old NEX-5 as my first camera and have been watching some of them. Too bad these lenses cost a little fortune here in Brazil, even the vintage ones. I'm thinking about importing an Andoer 50mm 1.8 from China since it's easier to get them in through customs. One question though, will the Focus Peaking function work in a manual focus lens?
Nice video. I'd probably not buy the 16 or 55-210 though, unless i guess theres a really good used deal somewhere (they were nex kit lenses after all, there are a lot of good deals out there). The 16 is small but otherwise pretty mediocre imo, at that price point you're probably better off going vintage you can deal with the MF, or just use ur regular 18-55 kit lens. Theres also the Sigma 19mm f2.8. The 55-210 isnt very sharp when used at longer focal length. Seems more reasonable to get a used Sony 18-105 G, which can replace both your 18-55 kit and the 55-210 (at 210 its so soft that you might as well use the 18-105 and crop you picture digitally). Moving out of super low budget territory, there is also the sigma DC DN 1.4 trio, the rokinon/samyang 12mm 2.0, and probably some other great offers that are very much worth that extra money.
Did you test the bokeh while filming and whether the image is distorted when you adjust the focus? Because that is often the problem with photo lenses.
It's always nice to see the less expensive kit being suggested as worth buying, but i have to be honest - that 16mm is pretty widely slated for being optically awful. I'm not sure that's a good suggestion for anyone.
Great video! I just snagged the Sony NEX 5T to add to my rotation, I love Sony by it was a pain to vlog on the A7 series cause of the screen doesn’t flip over. Been interested in getting a 16mm lens for a long time, do you think the other 16mm DC DN version is as good as this one? I know the pricing is like $100 difference, but I’m wondering about quality and what you think?
Well, you can not call the 50 mm a normal lens. Definition of a normal lens is the focal of it being (roughly) the same as the diagonal of the senzor/filmframe.
Hi! I'm scouring the internet for a bit of advice with my camera issues. Not sure if it's a lens problem or the camera itself. I have an alpha 6300 and with a kit lens 16-55mm and it worked great. Some time passed and I picked it back up to use it and it will not focus. I got another lens thinking that the original lens somehow got jammed. Unfortunately, it still will not focus; any thoughts or tips?
Anatastic video, If I were have to bay 3 of them I would probably combine the budget and pick one good all around lens to do the job as good as 3 of them separately - even 50mm is not as good as is it sound. 16mm pancake is small and portable but terrible in fact... My phone could easly compete. One good allaround lens would do the job I dear to think.
broadly you are correct. For most people a good super zoom lens is ideal. or a good lens at a preferred focal distance, such as selecting a prime lens like a 24mm or 35mm or 85mm equivalent.

16-50mm kit lens is far better than 16mm f/2.8. 16-50mm has OSS, it's much shaper and has zoom capability.
I think the advantage of the 16mm f/2.8 is in its usability because it's smaller.
@@n27272 smaller? Kit lens is as small as pancake lens :)
Agree, the 16-50 is almost the main lens i take when going travelling as it covers all bases.
Oh, this rotating shot is so beautifully shot!

I’d go with the NEX 6! It will have the edge when it comes to photography.

Sony 18-200mm LE is a Tamron 18-200mm Di III VC (B011)
I have that 200mm zoom (+ 90mm f2.8 macro) - this video makes you realise that you actually own the right kit - perhaps a wider angle next?
Nice overview, and some good tips. It's great to see stuff like this out there that's useful for the beginner.
Thank you! 😃

Yes focus leaking will still work with a manual lens 😁
@@FoxTailWhipz Thanks! Keep up the great content ;)

Heyy Man, Nice video. Appreciate the effort
great video, please how do you know when OSS is turned on or not? I'm a beginner

Just curious what are your thoughts on Sony a5000 as a starter camera in 2021
The a5000 is a great camera for starting out!
@@FoxTailWhipz omg you replied thanks for your video it was very helpful !
Hey man, I'm doing music covers and I need your advice. What lense would you recommend for making YT videos?
Thanks 😎
Why didn't you choose tamron 35mm 2.8? It is deadcheap and really sharp.
Very informative (no bluff) :) Thanks
Glad it was helpful!
Great job! Looking forward those next reviews! ;)
Thanks!

I just need a lens for reaction videos which would you recommend
For reaction videos, I would recommend either the Sony 16mm f2.8 or the Sigma 16mm f1.4. Hope that helps!
