  • Charles Lightoller was a man with nine lives. He somehow survived the sinking of the titanic, only to be roped into duty in World War I, and then brought back into military service again in WWII. How this man managed to survive some of the most dangerous moments in history is truly amazing and today we're going to share his incredible life story with you!

    As far as I know, Lighttoler was strictest officer in the Titanic disaster, so much so that it can be said that the reason why most of the lifeboats were not at full capacity or anywhere near it was because of his actions. Turning the women and children first policy into women and children only on his side of the ship, compared to Murdoch who tried his best to fill the boats and allowed a handful of men to board them.

    • @UNIQUEwastaken
      @UNIQUEwastaken 3 года назад +4

      Murdoch filled 10 lifeboat with full compartment and he took his life by suicide

    • @madisondean1074
      @madisondean1074 Год назад +3

      @Phantom It's unknown exactly how Murdoch died on the Titanic. So suicide isn't out of the realm of possibilities.

    • @Benji-jj2bg
      @Benji-jj2bg Год назад +2

      @@UNIQUEwastaken wrong. None of the lifeboats were filled to full capacity. One of the life boats that murdoch filled only had 12 people. One of the main reasons for this was because in the beginning it was hard to get people on the boats, noone wanted to go cause noone thought it was going to sink at first.

    • @UNIQUEwastaken
      @UNIQUEwastaken Год назад

      @@Benji-jj2bg I learned more in the next 1 year so I can confirm it is wrong, but the boat filled with 12 people was not because he had hard time trying to get people inside the boat, its because the boat was lifeboat number 1, and as u know lifeboat 1 shared the same davits as collapsible c. So murdoch just filled lifeboat 1 with any people close by and quickly lowered away because he wanted to prepare collapsible c as fast as possible

      @@MinskyDoxsky Passengers didn't want to leave the ship due to not believing there to be any real emergency. It wasn't until 40 minutes later that the officers were mustering them into lifeboasts and still they didnt want to leave. Evidence is that over 1000 passengers were still on board, clinging to the stern as it sank down at 2.20AM. Also, the crew were not notified until 40 minutes to an hour after the striking of the iceberg. Keep in mind, unlike today, the passengers were all asleep and in bed by 10/11 at night. So to try and wake them and get them onto a freezing cold boat deck was no easy task.

      Who tried to drown Rose was just some random dude. Lightoller was clinging on the overturned lifeboat while William Murdoch was the one who killed himself in the movie.

      @@jessperry386 no in the romantic film that is for shame it was Murton who shot himself but in reality no one was shot on Titanic and there was no Jack and Rose.
