    London is my favourite opening because it's just so easy for white to play aa a beginner. No early queen attacks or some extreme variations to complicate things. It's allows to play safely and develop as a player slowly at this stage. And I wanna say after this video, I learnt some lines that I used to struggle against like the bf5 line. Thanks a lot Hikaru

      What is your rating? I only play rapid , I'm 1235 rating, I've never studied openings, I am learning the London, only just started.

    • @dvyaswaroop
      @dvyaswaroop Год назад +1

      @@Deadeye1967 I'm 630 rapid, 500 blitz and 400 bullet. London is the best opening out of all I've tried. I started learning openings around 500elo rapid. I haven't dived deep into all of the openings I've dived into. 2-4 lines of each opening I've learnt. So far I know the basics of London, Italian, Caro Kann, Scandal avian and Englund Gambit

    • @Deadeye1967
      @Deadeye1967 Год назад

      @@dvyaswaroop I started with Giucco Piano, not sure if the Italian is slightly different. I looked a Caro Kann, but white has a lot of options to learn how to respond. I am going to get into Kings Indian defence / Pirc defence as it can be played with a lot of whites opening apparently, and is highly rated defence. If you know the Italian you should try the Evans gambit, it is highly rated , and i tried it on bots, it is good if you want to be aggressive early. Don't bother learning the Siscilian defence until much later, at our level it isn't good apparently.

    Hey hikaru, as usual, amazing video! But I just wanted to make a request. Beginner opening are available in plenty of RUclips channels, everyone's trying to promote the same London, Caro, tricks, gambits, Vienna, Italian, french etc. But almost all creators shy away from teaching the English and the Sicilian always saying it's too complex for beginners and intermediates to try. I for one am very interested in both these opening and I'm sure there would be more like me who'd like a series on the English opening especially, cus it's very unique and an easy way to catch people off guard in the early stages of our rating. So, I thought there could be no one better than you to dissect some English and Sicilian games to teach us the themes, and ideas which can help us play these openings. Thank you for your content! Hope this happens some day

    Been playing the London system a lot. It got me to 1600 Rapid, 1550+ Blitz, and 1400+ on bullet. It served and is serving me pretty darn well as a beginner.

      @@filipsavkovic93 Honestly, yes... xD
      My calculation is pretty bad and I tend to miss tactics a lot. Whenever I'm on a winning position, I somehow let the advantage slip away. There are several cases where I won my opponent's Queen by they end up checkmating me. xD
      I still have a lot to learn.

    • @Deadeye1967
      @Deadeye1967 Год назад +3

      @@filipsavkovic93 I am 1235, there is hardily any difference from 1060 to 1200/1300. I don't bother with bullet or blitz, I am quite a slow player so I like rapid. I would say play less games and study more, play the bots around 1000 bot and 1200 bot with no help and take the starting moves back until it plays the opening you want practice, analize your games. Don't rush moves, have a look each move first for checks, exchanges, where your pieces are aiming , where opponents pieces are aiming, and how it changes everything with your selected move. Look for 2 candidate moves, don't jump into the first good move you see.
