His subscribers are blessed to get a first hand lesson from the five time himself. Great! 🙂
Watching hikaru explain the move/strategy make me feel like a GM
Really? Makes me feel like I'm having difficulty understanding which shoe goes on what foot.
I love Hikaru shows that the same ideas come to play in different ways. The Rc1 never occurred to me, even though my bishop is on f4. good stuff.
Thank you Hikaru! We are blessed to learn from you. I love this.
I like this because I usually am not losing by move 3 when I play the london
I love the london system, it's really awesome how its simple to learn, effective at most elo and has many traps / can be expanded to be stronger as you become a better player yourself.
Amazing how clearly he sees everything in real time, and is still so down to earth and relatable even though he is a genius
The HUUUUHHHH?!?! after not taking the queen was so fucking funny. 🤣🤣
This is brilliant, please do more
Today, we are blessed with another lesson from hikaru
Much respect to Hikaru, consistently making content even with tournaments
Glad to be watching this vid, I've been trying to fool someone with the Tennison Gambit and not once has someone played the Scandinavian defense (or they have but it didn't work out for separate reasons).
Nice in-depth lesson.
Congrats on your wedding! Sincerely wish the both of you many happy years. Your video is instructive and pleasant to watch. Thank you Hikaru.
London is my favourite opening because it's just so easy for white to play aa a beginner. No early queen attacks or some extreme variations to complicate things. It's allows to play safely and develop as a player slowly at this stage. And I wanna say after this video, I learnt some lines that I used to struggle against like the bf5 line. Thanks a lot Hikaru
What is your rating? I only play rapid , I'm 1235 rating, I've never studied openings, I am learning the London, only just started.
@@Deadeye1967 I'm 630 rapid, 500 blitz and 400 bullet. London is the best opening out of all I've tried. I started learning openings around 500elo rapid. I haven't dived deep into all of the openings I've dived into. 2-4 lines of each opening I've learnt. So far I know the basics of London, Italian, Caro Kann, Scandal avian and Englund Gambit
@@dvyaswaroop I started with Giucco Piano, not sure if the Italian is slightly different. I looked a Caro Kann, but white has a lot of options to learn how to respond. I am going to get into Kings Indian defence / Pirc defence as it can be played with a lot of whites opening apparently, and is highly rated defence. If you know the Italian you should try the Evans gambit, it is highly rated , and i tried it on bots, it is good if you want to be aggressive early. Don't bother learning the Siscilian defence until much later, at our level it isn't good apparently.
Great commentary!
Playing explosive chess with c4!!
Hey hikaru, as usual, amazing video! But I just wanted to make a request. Beginner opening are available in plenty of RUclips channels, everyone's trying to promote the same London, Caro, tricks, gambits, Vienna, Italian, french etc. But almost all creators shy away from teaching the English and the Sicilian always saying it's too complex for beginners and intermediates to try. I for one am very interested in both these opening and I'm sure there would be more like me who'd like a series on the English opening especially, cus it's very unique and an easy way to catch people off guard in the early stages of our rating. So, I thought there could be no one better than you to dissect some English and Sicilian games to teach us the themes, and ideas which can help us play these openings. Thank you for your content! Hope this happens some day
Fantastic explanation. Thanks for sharing
TY for teaching

AMAZING! thanks for the tips!!
Of all the chess streamers, Hikaru has the most fluid tutorial.
Is it weird I like watching Hikaru explain chess more than I like playing?

Something about Hikaru’s recent intros feel like the uncanny valley
Probably because his public persona is manufactured
love u Hikaru!
Hikaru: I'll destroy this London enjoyer.
also Hikaru: Welcome back everyone...
Can you do one on the Queen’s Gambit
Please make queens gambit next
Gawd blimey, o's this geezer.
Been playing the London system a lot. It got me to 1600 Rapid, 1550+ Blitz, and 1400+ on bullet. It served and is serving me pretty darn well as a beginner.
you are 1600 and call yourself a beginner ????
@@filipsavkovic93 Honestly, yes... xD
My calculation is pretty bad and I tend to miss tactics a lot. Whenever I'm on a winning position, I somehow let the advantage slip away. There are several cases where I won my opponent's Queen by they end up checkmating me. xD
I still have a lot to learn.
@@AngeloGene I was new to chess in December and now I'm a 1060. how can i get to 1200 or 1300. also blitz and bullet are much harder than rapid for me
@@filipsavkovic93 I am 1235, there is hardily any difference from 1060 to 1200/1300. I don't bother with bullet or blitz, I am quite a slow player so I like rapid. I would say play less games and study more, play the bots around 1000 bot and 1200 bot with no help and take the starting moves back until it plays the opening you want practice, analize your games. Don't rush moves, have a look each move first for checks, exchanges, where your pieces are aiming , where opponents pieces are aiming, and how it changes everything with your selected move. Look for 2 candidate moves, don't jump into the first good move you see.
@@Deadeye1967 thank u very much.
hope you do caro kann next
Best video I have ever watched from Hikaru. Please name the positions, and give more basics
I was not aware of Rajon Rondo being the king of Connect Four, untilnow. Thanks @GMHikaru

Being an amateur player ....i have defeated 1800 fide rated as well as 1200 fide rated player with the london system ....you can give hard fights straight from the opening
Man now i gotta deal with my 1100 games all being against the london again

@@Chad.Commenter I think after levy made a video on it 90% of my games were london games for a month lol
