I usually am lost watching your videos because I’m terrible at chess but I feel like I did a good job at guessing your moves and improving my board vision. I was 197 when I started playing this january and now I am 1100. Your videos are fantastic and I love learning new stuff, incredible teacher. I think I will start attempting the London
Been playing your standard London step up's for a bit now and you always said you preferred that to the Jobava... but just now I'm all aboard the Jobava Train and ready to fish with dynamite!!! More Jobava games please!!! I love how my mindset while playing this setup goes "okay, he's gonna castle... time to go checkmate mate him" ... and then I do! :)
Just found this channel a few days ago. Simply love his style, esp the trademark 'it's time to get to....the following game' with a smile on his face 😊.
Enjoying your streams tremendously. Love how you go deep into the Jobava London. I recall hearing some old master once said, that best was to play the same opening until you become deep in it rather than playing too many different things rather superficially. :) Thanks!
You always put me in awe, the only downside is that the amount of admiration of your skill is directly proportional to the melancholy that i feel that I'd never be able to reach the 50% of your capability.
Study chess 10 hours a day for 20 years and you will get there that's what these guys do. A lot of it is just time spent effectively training. Also I am quite sure these guys think of nothing but chess when they are not playing or training . You have to be obsessed
I watch alot of chess videos - naroditsky, chessbrah, Gotham, Eric Rosen, Bartholomew... yours are by far my favourites. You're fucking hilarious and your teaching style is SO intuitive. I was in a bit of a slump before I started watching your videos a couple of days ago... since I started I've won 7 games in a row. Incredible teacher, definitely gonna keep watching! I'm sure you're gonna blow up soon
Your best video yet. Loved it. Would you consider making a similar format video on the Black Lion Defense? I feel like that opening fits your style and I personally love playing it as black.
This opening was "discovered" by a friend of mine, a really weak player - he played around 1300, all by his own. That was around 1990. He gave it the name in Greek which it roughly translates to "Ring Around the Rosie", not because it meant something, but I think mostly to show that he had no idea how he came about it, but is was funny that it worked wonders. He played it against a strong IM (later a GM) and he almost won! He won material but his inexperiense showed over the board.
I honestly use this a lot. I actually slowly found this opening by trying to different possible positions. There is a bishop trap that tends to develop on the right side as well.
Mr. Banzea, I was just looking over your FIDE profile, and though it was a few years back, I bet it still feels fresh! Congratulations on achieving International Master! Such an amazing feat man! Well done! 🤘
15:45 Another option is to go Bg5 instead of Bf4 with the same idea of going e5. It's just as trappy and even objectively sound. I have a 75% win rate with that line (at the 2100 level). Also if black goes Nfd7 instead of dxe5 there's now the option to go 6.f4 0-0 7.h4 with a very dangerous attack.
Oh man reminds me of Dutch players. I picked up off of Ben Finegold 1.d4 f5 2. Bg5! And have never had a dutch player not crap themselves in the next 2 moves. For some reason even 1800s+ playing the Dutch have played h6 against it not realizing how dangerously close ot checkmate it is.
Great video again Alex! I use that opening all the time, but only have a few tricks. You are very helpful and a great teacher. Ill be watching this vid many more times. Thanks man! 👊
Funny thing, back in the day when I was playing, everybody seemed to play "surprising" openings, to the extent that they were not a surprise at all, and I was quite familiar with them. Anyway, when I first started playing chess without a lot of formal knowledge of openings but had some theory of the basics, this was an opening I naturally played often.
Thank you for your video and humor, I'm 300 rated Blitz player and around 650 Rapid. I trying to learn openings (without cheese, don't do cheese, just want solid chess), a lot of blitz players play around 70-85% accuracy even at my level, sometimes 60ish (and on odd occasions sometimes less. So it is hard for me to progress I feel. This helps, I was trying Ponziani recently but my success rate is about 50-50, main problem is with black for me right now, I try Sicilian Defense most times. Think I'm just to old to learn lol. Not sure if you read this, but good content, just wanted to say thanks :)
I like 5. Bxe5 better than pawn takes in game 1. Seem easier to play, but engine likes them equally. Alex you need to do a Jobava London course after your Caro Kann is done! Thanks for continuing with this series.
I decided to give it a try and in my second game with it I got a checkmate in 9 moves. I play the hippo a lot and it takes 10 moves just to set that opening up! I'll definitely be playing this more!
You should get an award for trash talk. It is actually masterful how you work in "...being very happy that you managed to touch a woman for the first time in your life" while giving instructions. Bravo!
I'm so amazed and confused and in-awe and upset and astounded and jealous and laughing and defeated and exited and in disbelief and entertained by your chess skillz
@@AlexBanzea Bro, I could go on for a while with praisal words, what you have done to my caro kann, slav and vienna.. im forever grateful. Partly thanks to you're instructive videos (and Silman books) i have gone from 1050 to 1500 the last 90 days.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but at 9:10 if they do pawn a6 instead of taking the queen, should we take their queen? Does that end in a winning position?
I love his analogies. Imagine your taking a dump and brushing your teeth at the same time and your tooth brush falls into the toilet. That's what it's like when your knight is trapped on the edge of the board.
@@AlexBanzea just making a joke. Love your videos and they are very educational and informing but love your analogies more. Even though some don't always make sense. Don't change a thing. Keep up the good work.

I played 3 unrated games with literally your video suggestions. In two of them i crushed my opponent and in the other one i had a comfortable position. Super video 😄
Waitlist for my upcoming Jobava course: alexbanzea.com
Game 1 reminds me that 90% of mates in 1 I miss are because i just want to take a free queen
Ditto. 😂
Still a lot of people resign after a queen blunder 😂
Bursted into laughter when you said "Bishop G5 - the guy she told you not to worry about" =)))
Opponent: makes a move
Alex: Imagine you are dating a hot girl…
Lmao
Before mate in one,
Alex : imagine the girl is going to dump you..
59:30 "However there is Bishop to A5, the guy she told you not to worry about."
Opponent : ChessmasterTeaching is thinking quite a bit, I just played a crazy good move..
Alex : ..tomatoes are expensive..
What makes your channel so appealing is your ability to talk through games we would encounter. Phenomenal work.
Alex, I simply looove your analogies when explaining positions 😂
5:25 king in the middle open up the game with C4! Nice. Never would have seen that. Learned something.
Alex’s masterful instruction is like Horowitz playing Scarlatti it’s magical
increible to see how the channel has grown in the short time ive been watching. Keep teaching!!!
I'm in bed with Covid and you are very entertaining and informative-I particularly like your post game analysis and key moves. Thanks heaps!
Extremely entertaining „finds the resign button“ 😂😂
Also very helpful as I‘m trying to learn this opening right now!
Keep it up :)

Very instructive is the course out if not when Sir?
Probably dumb question but looking at the position at 31:54 can't you win his rook on f8 by going knight to h6 with check?
you can do that, but it's not enough for an advantage as two minor pieces are stronger than a rook. better to play for attack while down a piece there
@@AlexBanzea Makes sense, thank you!
the way you know all these traps and tactics is mad impressive. I guess thats the IM difference
