beautifully explained. I remember my theory teacher in college stressing that you should never double the 3rd in a voicing, that it was just too strong of a sound. So if that was the goal, you could leave that high G# out (on the G string), correct? but maybe you could still let the high E ring, no?
@@Studio33guitar For about 6 month now. But since I don’t take any lessons I practice about 7 hours a day, used to average more before school started and stuff, but I try to play as much as I can. Theory is kinda hard when no one’s teaching you but I know all the notes on the fretboard and pretty familiar with many chord shapes and names. I try to learn simpler songs by ear since they say ear training is important, well i try to, but often just wind up on a youtube tutorial lol. Would you recommend for me that I take any lessons? I feel like I’m doing pretty okay-ly on my own, so I don’t know if lessons would be crucial.
Thanks for the tip! just came across a song with that chord.... Wasn't sure there was A short cut.... so good clarification on keeping the Open E chord. Love the Gibson western. I just bought A Guild DS240 exactly same Tobacco Burst. I got rid of the " white plastic" string pins And put Black Ebony pins on the Bridge...... would be A good Idea for that! Thanks Again
@@Studio33guitar this is my 4th day taking guitar seriously, I’m just trying to learn a bunch of songs that I like, and some technique from RUclips videos. 🤘
Nope me too. Ik a lot of guitarists will say that it’s not impossible for anyone you just need practice but I’m sure that’s not true.. my finger literally does not even come close to reaching it no matter how much I relax my hand or wtvr. Did you get it in the end?
@@marktaylor3809 I watched your video, and you’re clearly a good player, so it may seem unnecessary but for a beginner learning a E/G# they would need to know how to play an E chord first.

Impossible to get if you have small hands like me
Thank you Sir for such an easy lesson 😊
Thank you for the comment. How long have you been playing guitar?
Great vid 👏🏼
I guess understanding where the G# is on the fretboard requires knowledge of all the notes aka. learning some guitar theory 😅
FML. Been playing it the C shaped E with a barre on the G#, aka 4th fret.😂😂😂
👍
Thank you for the comment! Are you learning to play?
Anyone here from playing Gerry Rafferty's Right Down the Line? Lmao. There's always that one chord in a song that likes to f up your flow.
Hahaha yes! Thanks for watching. How long have you played guitar?
i need to do more yoga
Am I the only one whose finger does not reach the G?!
It’s a tough one! Keep working on it, it will come!

Any one else thought this ment play either E or G#
Bit shit tutoring like, if someone wants to know what e/gsharp is i'm sure you don't need to go through with what an E looks and sounds like.
Well an E/ G# is an E chord with a G# in the bass, so knowing how to play an E chord is an important part of the equation. Thanks for watching
@@Studio33guitar My point is you shouldn't need to tell the the E chord if they are wanting to know e/gsharp/.
@@marktaylor3809 I watched your video, and you’re clearly a good player, so it may seem unnecessary but for a beginner learning a E/G# they would need to know how to play an E chord first.
@@Studio33guitar You are missing my point, they should already know the E chord if they are wanting to learn the e/gsharp chord..
@@marktaylor3809 Oh I completely agree! They should know an E chord fist! That’s exactly why I teach it in this lesson first!
