Landslide C - C/B - Am7 - C/B. I actually came here because i was trying to figure out what that C/B chord was called. I knew it was some variation of a C chord. Just wasn't sure which. Thanks.
Thank you. I just couldn't get my head around this damn chord but you made it simple enough for my adled goddamned brain to understand, now I am one step closer to playing the perfect campfire song: Long Distance Love by Little Feat! Just a tip to anyone who hasn't heard it.
Hi Alexander, thanks for watching! Sorry my reply is so long in coming. I couldn't sleep this morning so I've been going through my past comments and seeing who is out there. :) Cheers my friend. Glad I could help.
Yes, I know. NOW when I make tutorials on chords I show the chord as quickly as I can and then those that want to stick around can hear me pontificate about why and how we play this chord. Thank you for your input. I do appreciate it.
I remain grateful to everything that I learned from wonderful teachers here in youtube and everywhere else in the kingdom of internet. Shortly after this video clip, the beloved guitars that I used to study were left idle except for the once in a while dusting. Partly lazy by nature, partly discouraged, I slowly neglected the enthusiasm to continue studying, which I devotedly began since 2013. By the time of this video's watching (after 6 years), I only acquired a good foundation of chords and some simpler progressions. It did seem as if I donot possess a natural talent to play real 'gig' styles. I think I did try my best, but ultimately decided that there are things which are meant for.., and things which are not. Summer of 2021 I received an amazing ukulele and was able to learn a little with ease, but then distracted myself with a violin that my then 2nd year college child used in middle & high school. Each of these instruments shared the extreme love, adoration & bewilderment that I have for the guitars, although the guitars were in a much more possessed, inseparable type of obsession. Sometime along that period I also took a vintage flute out which I had gotten circa the guitars' era. The flute, same with the violin, seemed impossibly difficult for me. So I told myself that I will attempt again to learn them next time. September, I pulled the keyboard that the same son used to study for a year in high school, out. True to the speculative saying that the piano is an easy instrument for baby steps, and perhaps aided with my basic knowledge of guitar principles, I found myself 'attached' to playing piano. Handicapped, however, with the inability to sight-read sheets ~ due to very poor vision and mostly due to the fear of being drastically slowed down with deciphering notes and music notations.. I once again rely on youtube videos for instructions & demonstrations. December, I was gifted a better digital piano with weighted keys. And I've been studious until now with much eagerness to achieve nice sounding music. I still feel empty when it comes to the skill of reading music sheets to play.. but I guess, my age can only allow so much time and comfort to learn, so that skill will have to be compensated with my intention of playing for nice tonal quality. The guitars are physically right here with me all the time. There's some guilt, and perhaps some shame as well, but I forgive myself. I'll never cease loving them. I'll never forget the gratefulness for all the help & guidance.

G/B sounds beautiful with C base chord. C - G/b - Am7 - G - F - Am7 - G etc. or Am - G/b - Fmaj7. I have more than 100 song with this kind of chord progression. hahaha
Hi Hal, I’m learning One Of These Days by Emmylou Harris and this Gb chord appears. I say to myself “what is that chord?” Now I know. Great lesson Hal! Thanks 🤔😜
@@bobbymcloughlin3452 Bobby, I agree with you that if you take a minor chord and raise the 5th theoretically you get a "minor augmented chord", but have you "listened" to the "minor augmented chord" ? Using your logic a Bm+ would be B D F double sharp. the interval between the B and D is a minor third, the interval between the D and F double sharp doesn't sound like an augmented 5th, it sounds like a minor 6th. The F double sharp is also a G. If we spell the chord B D G then it is a major chord in 1st inversion. That's what you get when you take a minor chord in root position and raise the 5th, a major chord in 1st inversion. Music is sound, not theory on paper.
This is confusing... not sure what you are talking about here. E A D G B E are the string pitches. The notes in this chord are --- B D G B G (from low to high. the low E string is not being played.).
That's right, a G major chord with B note in the bass instead of a G. There is a difference because they feel different and they have different functions. You can interchange them if you want but the G is a more stable chord than the G/B. The G/B indicates to the listener that we are moving now and going on to something else.
Some people want to know how to create a chord so I start with the G and then show how we get the G/B. Some people just want to know the chord and move on. My videos are designed to help someone understand how to figure out chords on their own. Some people get that, some people don't.
thats all good but your vid was titled g/b.. not g leads into g/b. and to be fair if someone is learning the g/b you could well assume they know a simple g chord or even a g5.. its a misleading title is all im saying.. i skipped your vid and got one that showed me the chord in 30 seconds.. so thanks guy
C - G/B - Am is the progression that begins 'Dust In The Wind' (by Kansas)
Ah yes, Ted. You are correct. Maybe I should have said that in my video...?
The outro also sounds like the (bridge?) just before the lead in Stairway To Heaven...that's what I heard first
2:19 he shows the chord :)
excellent lesson
Thank you!
Loved the outro, thanks for sharing your G/B ideas!
That was written by one of my students. :) I was playing guitar on that recording.

B Minor Augmented Chord
Is this a joke or what? An augmented chord is a major chord with an augmented fifth. There isn't a minor augmented chord.
@@quailstudios Well the Augmented Chord you Musicians are Familiar with is the Major Augmented
Major Augmented = R 3 #5
Minor Augmented = R b3 #5
