This is my reaction to This is Norway
In this video I react to Norwegian comedy called This Is Norway in which it gives a comedy overview of Norway and Norwegian people.

The video is kinda a joke but also accurate. We teach our kids to ski (my mom gave me my first skiis as soon as I could walk), we tell stories about Askeladden and trolls, we give the kids lunch based on bread and cheese, then when they graduate highschool they party for about a month (before the exams) and begin the adult life.

lunch packets are basically wrapping the food in baking paper basically, pretty outdated. skiing is real, Askeladden and trolls is real. i did participate in the russ tradition, pretty much everyone with friends did, and we tried to include people in class who didn't, not force them to drink but at least have contact with people. and yeah lots of frozen pizza when we move out.

Some inaccuracies, like 17th of May being independence-day (really 7th of june 1905). 17th of May is our constitution-day. Otherwise pretty accurate.

Yes, but on the 17th of May we do not celebrate independence. We got our Constitution on this date in 1814, which is what we celebrate. From 1814 until 1905 we were under Sweden. Then we got our independence.

At least one inaccuracy is the potato part, wasn't introduced until 16th century, long after ancient times, but it could also just be a metaphor here(As far as I can remember type).

Jokes aside, the Norwegians didn’t even invent skiing, apart from maybe skii jumping, but stole it from the indigenous Sámi when it comes to cross country skiing. The huge paradox and irony. Everything from the style of bindings, the parallel walking and the style of using two poles as opposed to just one. Skiis was even found in ancient China… a whole nation’s claim to fame is indeed fake and built on cultural appropriation and colonialism🤡
