I listen from.Hanover PA. I want Dr Witesman to know I listened to her talk from 2017. It was so inspiring. It reminded me of how I was prompted by the Lord to finish my education. I had 2 years in before I married but then stayed home to raise my kids. I had 3 children under the age of 8 and was pregnant with my 4th when I received the prompting. My husband supported me and I graduated 3 years later. 10 years later my husband became disabled and I became the sole breadwinner. Thank goodness I listened to the Lord. Things would have been much different for our family if I hadn't gotten that degree in education.
Thank you for this lovely episode. Thank you, John, for mentioning again your words to the kids from Columbine High School. Our 2 daughters are survivors of that mass shooting and are awesome examples of the healing power of the atonement of Jesus Christ.
He’s mentioned that experience a lot lately. I remember the first time I heard him talk about it in a fireside. It caused a 180 degree turn in my thinking about trauma. Being a survivor of a different kind of trauma, I needed the insight John had and shared. It’s interesting to reflect on the healing I experienced as a result. I’m glad to read that your daughters are doing well. That’s a heavy load for them. It sounds like they are able to rely on Jesus Christ for the help they’ve needed. They will have a unique viewpoint on life that few people (and also far too many!) might have.
At age 83 am still growing leaps and bounds in faith and testimony from this wonderful podcast and other “Come, Follow Me” sources. Thank you from Logan, Utah.
This was an amazing episode. I am so grateful for Sister Witesman's experience and the spirit that she brought. My wife and I served missions in Independence and had to opportunity for hold the Liberty Jail open for Hank and his tour group who had been delayed by cancelled flights. It was one of our most cherished experiences. In 2012, we lost a beautiful daughter to lymphoma after years of struggle. Recently we experienced the lost of one of our sons. Our daughter was a faithful returned missionary with 3 precious young children. Our son had not been active in the church since his teenage years, but he still believed in and defended the church. During his life he was a model of the Savior's description of the sheep in his parable in Matthew 25. He was, kind, compassionate and a wonderful husband, step father and grandfather to the children of his step daughters. Since his passing, I have had a feeling that our daughter was there to meet him on the other side and continues to love him and teach him about eternity. I have not been sure until today that this feeling was doctrinal, but your quotations from President Nelson and President Taylor overwhelmed my heart. Thank you so much.
This is a beautiful tender mercy for you and your family. It describes perfectly how “all things work TOGETHER for good”. The difficulty of losing two children is made “good” by your personal revelation of their status. I like to picture them teaching and learning together while they wait for the rest of the family to join them.
This has been so powerful and even healing to listen to. Thank you for giving words to things I've felt, space for the hard things, and clarity to doctrine of hope. One of my favorite episodes ever.
Thank you Dr. Witesman. I do volunteering with refugees and I recognized the parallels with those who are forcibly displaced and experience trauma with the experiences of these families, Alma, and Amulek. Thank you for the call to all, especially women, to use our words and power for peace.
Please have Dr. Witesman back as a guest...this has been a blessing to me as I have struggled with so many hard things in these chapters, and so many personal experiences...I mean this has been a life-changing blessing. I am approaching 71 years old, and I have shed so much baggage through this amazing experience with the three of you. (Just a little side humor...are y'all the 3 Nephites ?🤗)
One of the top three episodes we've watched on Follow Him. Dr. Witesman is absolutely superb! The way she explains these chapters in Alma!! (We don't have the words to describe how we felt), and the spirituality she brought into our souls. Thank you to the three of you for enriching our lives!! Please bring her again soon!!
Dr. Witesman is directly talking to me today, when she mentioned about women and children. Thank you for the very uplifting insights. From mid-Wales saying love you all.❤
San Antonio, Texas. Dr. Witesman might be my favorite guest. I did not want that to end! ❤ It’s always a huge blessing to hear from someone who isn’t afraid to wrestle with and discuss the hard stuff.
My wife and I are serving as senior missionaries in Germany. We love your podcasts and we loved Dr. Witesman. The insights have deepened our understanding and love as the gospel.
Thank you for another exceptional podcast this morning. I loved the guest Dr. Witesman, but also Hank and John thank you for your comments. I feel uplifted and edified through the spirit once again. I appreciate you all freely giving of your time and talents to teach me. I am listening from Salt Lake City, Utah .Keep up the great work, I look forward each week to the discussion.
These lessons not only empower us but also give us the strength to carry on. The two episodes uplifted my spirit and heart. Thank you, Dr. Eva Witesman, for your insightful teachings. Listening to your podcast is always a joyful and enriching experience, and your wisdom continues to inspire and elevate us. Nefi from Brazil 😊
I felt the Spirit so strongly today, thank you so much for teaching me. I'm a convert of 42 years but have never learned more than in the past few years of following you in Follow Him. Thank you for this incredible podcast and for the amazing guests. Gilbert, AZ
I am from Michigan, and I listen to the Follow Him podcast regularly. Thank you Dr. wiseman for your eloquent explanations of these Alma chapters. I loved your stories and cried with empathy for your experiences. Also cried with John , recounting his experience. Hank you are the perfect host, guiding the experts you invite, to leave me feeling a more firm testimony of the gospel, each time I listen to this podcast. 44:58
On St. George Island Florida..........this was dynamic now to the transcript to recall how often I heard myself in words you all discussed today Thank you all !!!
I am listening from northern Philippines. My heart overflows with joy and gratitude each time I listen to every Follow Him episode. I love ur testimonies of how the Lord knows each of us and fulfills His part of the covenant. Thank u Dr. Witesman and our hosts Hank Smith and John Bytheway. I thirst for more scripture insights and this podcast has been helping me grow.
I awoke at 2 AM and was blessed with a sacred outpouring of the Spirit that lovingly guided me through these difficult concepts and opened my understanding as to why and how they play out in my own story and my own life and joy comes where there was once sickness and anxiety.
Tucson, AZ. I can't believe how much I've learned from Dr. Witesman. I know that woman's fear of being alone at night, especially as I've grown older. I never go anywhere at night by myself anymore, except over to the church; how I clutch my kubiton and keys when i get out of the car. I had a man jump out from behind a van in the Walmart parking lot before, asking me to try a sample of perfume. I had that kubiton ready, announced "No!" very loudly, jumped in my car, and immediately found the security guy driving around the parking lot that night to let him know that something untoward was going on. I'm so grateful for the gospel of Jesus Christ that provides me with the comfort I need while we're living in this difficult time. Neither of my sisters, though good Christian women, feel the optimism for the future that I feel, because of my faith in a prophet's words, and in the Lord and His goodness.
Sister, I am sorry for your experience (and ongoing fear) and am grateful you are okay (physically). It is wonderful to have our beliefs and our prophet, as you stated, to help us manage this life. 🙏
Thank you, all, for your insights, teachings, testimony, devotion, and sharing. I’ve grown SO much during these last few years and am extremely grateful for your consecration of time and talents for ME! I’m currently studying with you from Alice Springs Australia. I was here June 21-23, and am back for another year. So glad to have the blessing of this podcast, as well as others I learn from.
I want to thank all three of you for your humility; that means so much. Thank you also for sharing your personal experiences. That isn't always easy. Bless you, all. 🙏💕🙏💕🙏💕
Thank you, thank you! I LOVED hearing Dr. Eva Witesman’s perspective and insights on these Book of Mormon chapters and always love Hank and John’s comments. Such a delightful and uplifting podcast. Such a blessing to so many. - American Fork, Utah, USA
I was a missionary in Finland at the same time as Dr. Eva Weitzman’s husband, Owen. He was a fantastic missionary, and Eva💛 has been a spectacular guest on your show! I am absolutely unquestioningly edified.
Serving as Senior Missionaries in the Philippines. We love, love, love the insights on this podcast. Never really comment. But today......today was superb! So grateful for the good you do and the disciples you are!
Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. What a blessing it is to have the gospel. ❤ The Book of Mormon increases our understanding so much. Loved this episode. I love that we later learn that an angel visited Alma and Amulek as they were in Alma's house to recover from the horrific experience they had gone through. I would have gone nuts a long time ago if I didn't have the gospel to help me make sense of life. We are so very blessed.
Listening from Dallas. Eva Witesman is great, took a class from her and every class was thought-provoking and uplifiting, thanks for having her on the podcast!
Listening from Kennewick Washington. I am always looking forward to this podcast each week and the light it brings into my life and my home. Thank you Hank and John and your amazing production crew! Shoutout to David Perry who is a family friend and made our wedding video...we love your work! And THANK YOU Dr. Whitesman and all the guests. Such a wonderful way to learn each week!
From Kingston, Ontario, Canada, I want to thank you all for this powerful, awesome, wonderful lesson! Thank you for your thoughts and testimonies. Thank you!!! ❤🇨🇦
Ahh, so much learned, so much to continue to study…I am living in Guatemala, with not enough Spanish to understand anything…..on Sunday, so these podcasts are my lifeline…my SS. Class, my Institute class, my RSociety class…..thank you all……and those in the comments too.
These chapters certainly bring up some of the harder questions. I can't imagine how they suffered having to watch the fate of the believers and feeling powerless to stop it. Trusting in God's wisdom can feel unfair at times just because we don't see what He does. Trust is an action that can be SO difficult. I always hope that people who experience such horrific endings are accompanied by angels who minister to and help calm and carry them to some degree (especially children). It reminds me of the Chosen when John the Baptist is executed. He was given a beautiful sign. I pray that those who suffer feel God or angels near as they get closer to HOME.
The connection to overcoming this world and finding rest through the power keeping our covenants brings was wonderful! It helped me to see the importance of attending the temple. Listening from Aztec, NM
At the beginning of this episode I thought here is Marilyn Monroe and she is instructing us in the most horrific and heart breaking chapters of Alma. Sister Witesman is a most remarkable source and resource of gospel penetration ever. Her references to D&C 121, 122 are most encouraging. It seems we have so many repeatable witnesses to the true dimension of the gospel that to miss those parallel experiences is to miss the true meaning of the Lord’s teachings. Her references to ‘entering into his rest’, harrows all the references to the Exodus, the recounting in Hebrews 3,4, and the references to the Lord’s rest in D$C 84. The scriptures are full. May I cap this comment with how humble I felt as Sister Witesman bore a penetrating testimony of her wrestlings with the Lord and her inclusion of how important women are to the operation of the Spirit and Church. God bless her in her family and work.
Thank you so much Dr Witesman. This has been amazing. Listening from Freiberg, Germany where my husband and I serving as missionaries in the temple here. I’m so incredibly thankful for your podcast.
We're listening from Yokosuka, Japan. My husband and I watched this as we prepare to teach the youth this Sunday. This was such a powerful two-part series. We both feel so edified from this discussion. Thank you for sharing your experiences and thoughts. I especially appreciated the perspective of the "power with" God and "power with" community that we should all be striving for, and how blessed we will be when we are successful in achieving such communities (Zion). Thank you so much.
Booneville Mississippi. I love your podcasts and listen every week. Thank you for freely giving of your time and knowledge. I thoroughly enjoyed Dr Witesman. She was just fantastic!!
I am watching from the Forest of Dean, UK. Thank you for the insights and personal experiences you share each week that help me come unto Christ. I really appreciated Dr Witesman relating the repentance story of Alma the younger to ourselves. That when we feel distressed and distraught at the realisation of our sins, we need to remember that their is a way forward, and it is through Christ.
What amazing episodes! There are no words to describe.... I'm so grateful to all three of you and the spirit that was able to testify of the truths taught. Please do this again.
Listening from Singapore and absolutely loved this episode. I couldn't help but share it with my daughters. It made me think a little more deeply about my opportunities in my own context.
I love watching your videos from Oceanside California. Thank you for this beautiful episode. It gives me hope as I hear related experiences to get through challenging times. This year has been especially difficult for me and my family but your episodes strengthen me everyday. Thank you Dr Witesman for your insight. ❤
Thank you! I, too have had to work through the challenges in finding worth and validation as a woman, in my case, as a single woman, in a male dominated church. I’ve found my peace, I pray others find theirs, too. So much to digest and integrate. I’m listening from Taylorsville UT.
Thank you to all involved in the production of this Podcast - including the families behind the scenes. Listening in from the countryside of Nelson, New Zealand, feeling grateful for the added depth and understanding you all bring to the scriptures.
Thank you for these marvelous lessons. I see so much more through the experiences and knowledge of both Hank and John and their amazing guests. Listening from Goshen Ohio...I live 20 minutes from the Cincinnati Temple site....so thrilled to eventually live close to a temple! I can never thank Heavenly Father enough for this great blessing.
Very powerful and helpful. Thanks for your shared insights and personal stories. Best is yet to come!! Listening always out of Saratoga Springs UT. Moved here to UT from Bay Area CA 4 years ago with my wife and kids and been loving our decision since we arrived.
I absolutely loved being taught by the three of you. I had spiritual insights of my own while being guided through these chapters with you. Thank you so very much. I live in the DFW area in Texas.
I live in the Salt Lake area. Thank for the conversation about loosing a loved one. my family recently lost our youngest brother suddenly who is 12 years younger than me. It left us all stunned. We rejoice in our testimonies of the plan of salvation knowing the we will see him again. There was no health issues that we know of, he was just out for a run and collapsed on the ground. Found later and he had passed away. I can only imagine the reunion he had with my father, mother and another sister. He and his wife had just celebrated their 15th wedding anniversary and had moved into their brand new home a month before. It seemed tragic and we were all stunned. However, we know that we will see him again.
I'm from the Philippines and I just love listening to your podcasts and am always excited who your next guest will be and what new insights can I learn from all of you.. . Thanks a lot.
I love and appreciate when the focus is on the Savior. The hope of Israel. I wish the emphasis had been on Him throughout the two parts, and the spirit. There are so many beautiful examples of His infinite love with the most difficult things faced by both genders. I appreciate the guests that come focused on the Savior and not personal agenda. Elder Faust gave a magnificent discourse on why bad things happen, the worst things imaginable happen to good people. Grateful for his Christ centered focus.
Please, please have Sis Witesman back on as a guest. These episodes are amazing.
This!
How can this show be life changing EVERY SINGLE EPISODE!!! Thank you SO much for everything!
Well said 👏

Thank you! I, too have had to work through the challenges in finding worth and validation as a woman, in my case, as a single woman, in a male dominated church. I’ve found my peace, I pray others find theirs, too. So much to digest and integrate. I’m listening from Taylorsville UT.

🙏for your family🙏 I love your outlook.
From Washington state, thanks so much for your podcasts. They are so enlightening & faith building!
