Thanks again guys! Roy passed in December 1988. I think if I remember correctly, this performance was done in January 1988 (I might be wrong). Crazy to think how strong his voice held up to his passing. KD is a very underrated vocalist. She performed “Hallelujah” at the Winter Olympics when they were hosted in Vancouver back in 2010. She’s also performed some duets with Tony Bennett. This is one of the best duets ever, in my opinion. Glad you guys liked it!
They are both fantastic. You should check out k.d lang sing this at the tribute concert for Roy. Also her live performance of hallelujah. It will blow you away
K.D. Lang performing "Crying" at the tribute concert in memory of Roy Orbison was requested by his widow. The performance was stunning. ruclips.net/video/QgGLC3JLTuY/видео.html
Such a compliment that Roy had the faith aand belief that K.D. Lang would be able to perform this classic of Roy's as a duet and regarded as one of the greatest duet's of all-time. Their voices are beautiful and full of emotion. As one of the comments has already said you really felt the emotion in their voices. If perfection exists than this performance has to be close to it.
I believe Roy's second wife Barbara introduced K D Lang to Roy, she thought their voices would match perfectly. K D Lang sang Crying in a special, where artists celebrated Roy's life; you need to check it out, you need to react to K D Lang singing Hallelujah.
k.d. lang is one of the best, most versatile voices in the business. She sang duets with Tony Bennett, who considered her the best singer since Judy Garland. Their duet of Blue Velvet is sensual and effortless. k.d.'s Hush, Sweet Lover is warm, sensual, and as compelling sung live as it is in the video version.
Roy made a great choice choosing KD to accompany him in a duet. Actually this is one of the greatest performances I've ever seen in my 60 yrs listening to music.KD did a magnificent performance a tribute to Roy singing this gem. It's really worth checking out
If you really want to hear K D Lang at her finest then listen to her rendition of Crying at Roy Orbison's tribute concert. She really soars. Roy specifically wanted KD on this as she was really an unknown to most people.
Of course, Roy is a legend, and he requested K.D. I can't say enough about K.D. Her voice range, power, and breath control are amazing. His family asked her to perform this song at his tribute. She was phenomenal and kept the song in his original version, which a lot of singers do not do.❤
Great reaction, as usual. Now please, please react to K.D's performance of Crying at the Roy Orbison tribute concert shortly after his death. An earlier commenter even left you a handy link so it's easy peasy. K.D.'s is truly one of the most powerful and touching performances I've ever seen. The concert showcased one star-studded act after another, and K.D. absolutely stole the show.
So glad you finally reacted to this. Roy Orbison was a favourite of mine since a child (yes even then I had good taste). KD Lang is another favourite of mine. I love both their individual recordings of this song but together they are just bliss. ❤
If you’ve never seen JDLang singing Hallelujah at the opening ceremonies of the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver will bring you tears it’s so be. And Roy… there are no words ❤️
I have to put in a request for k.d. lang's MTV Unplugged performance of Constant Craving. Reactors always do the studio version, which is great but the live is even better, imo.
I’m so glad Roy was so supportive and helped boost her career. Even though k.d. didn’t come out until a few years after this song, just the rumors made it difficult for her in old-school Nashville. Her pop career gave her one of her biggest hits, “Constant Craving” and would be a good one to react to.
Her solo version of this song on MTV Unplugged is my favorite version! Check out her live performance on the Johnnie Carson show singing In Care of the Blues--she puts the TORCH in torch & twang.
k.d lang is AMAZING she can sing anything ❤ she is Canadian she was born in Edmonton & grew up in Consort Alberta, her version of this song at Roy’s tribute was stunning she blew everyone away ❤ the first 6/7 years of her career she was a Country singer Turn Me Round, Three Cigarettes in an Ashtray, Bopalena , Big Boned Gal just a few suggestions ❤ you may have heard biggest hit which was Constant Craving x you can’t go wrong with Roy ❤ In Dreams, Pretty Woman, I Drove All Night a few suggestions x this was done as a duet for the film Hiding Out x
Thanks, guys! Roy of course was unique and amazing.. but so is KD.. you should also see her live tribute where she sang this solo (she was very restrained here.. out of respect for Roy, I'm sure - he always hit those extraordinary high notes himself)... appreciate your reactions!
kd lang was a relative unknown who received a lot of grief for "daring" to perform this duet with Roy, but HE chose her out of every artist in the world to join him on this one!!
Relatively unknown?(!) 😮 I was one of the first Vancouver ( if not Canada) radio broadcasters to play her music in 1984. In 1985 she won the Juno award for Most Promising Female Vocalist. 9 She performed at Expo '86, as well as Roy Orbison, albeit on different days. 😂 In 1986 she recorded in Nashville with Dave Edmuns as producer.
The power of a live performance. Wow. I agree with the comment about how they bounce off each other. Really stunning vocals. And the harmonica was a cool accompanyment
Some weeks ago, KD was inducted into the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame. Just before that, she sat down with CBC's Ian Hanomansing for an interview. Maybe you folks, as Canadians, have already seen it but anyway... ruclips.net/video/nGX2EeCg57I/видео.htmlsi=lC1ejEDmadugM8bk
Sadly not too long after this Roy passed away. K.D. Lang tracks which I suggest are: "Black Coffee", "Didn't I", "Turn Me Round", "Constant Craving", "Save Me", "Wash Me Clean", "So it Shall Be", "Hush Sweet Lover". There are many more but these are good ones to continue with.
I went to RUclips to listen to "Black Coffee" by K.D. Lang. I thought it would be her version of the song sung by Humble Pie. Oops, it's beautiful but not their song(I don't think they wrote that version)
@@rubroken No, you're right they didn't, K.D. Lang is an excellent artist who deserves more recognition in my opinion, she really isn't County she has different sound, she's like a female version of Chris Isaak if you know him?
Another great singer from the early 60`s that no one reacts to is Gene Pitney .Half heaven, half heartache or I`m going to be strong are 2 songs that really show his range.
I have seen a few reactions. He was an artist that I loved all the way through from when a child all the way through adulthood to present day. He was truly unique. He was forgotten in the 80s but never by me. I would listen to him on my Walkman and people would ask what I was listening to. I would pass the earphones and they would try to guess. I then introduced them to the forgotten gem known as Gene Pitney. Always in my top favourites. ❤ Then many discovered him when the famous duet came out. What was sad is it renewed his appeal with newer generations and sadly soon after he died.
K.D. Lang is criminally underrated in the country music genre. I was introduced to her from this show through Roy. Having said that, I still prefer his solo version of the song.
This was around the time that Roy was recording with the Traveling Wilburys and he died after recording end of the line with the Traveling Wilburys and before he made the video for that song
LILIAC is a great new Band ! They are bringing the 80's hits back ! Try Enter Sandman, I Love Rock and Roll, just to get you started ! They have been doing much more everyday !
You probably ate familiar with a Black and White evening of 1987 with Roy, Bruce Springsteen, Elvis Costello and the TCB Band and other famous artists like K. D. Lang, Bonnie Raitt and Jennifer Warnes and many others. This song is also included in the 1991 CD King of Hearts with rerecorded and remastered versions old and new songs.
Roy was my childhood music, with,I recall, your husband, excuse me I forgot your name, mentioning how haunting Karen Carpenters voice was;I’d add Roy’s voice to that haunting voice too
roy orbison wAss an amazing singing taken a bit to soon he died of heart attack at 52 years old someone asked how elvis got famous he said ask roy orbison i thought he wS blind to my durprise i was wrong
Two great singers-if you are looking for other Canadians give Loreena McKenitt a try-multi instrumental talent, and stunning voice-sometimes when I feel troubled I watch/listen to the DVD recorded at the Alhambra-it seems to comb out my emotions.
@@visaman I got to see her at " The Egg" in Albany N.Y., and have most of her recordings-she came out to chat after the show, a most gracious and lovely person.
Imminence with the song “Come What May.” It’s a Live Version at the Ystads Teater. They actually have a Live Video now. Lead singer plays violin while singing and screaming. It’s kind of unheard of having violin in metalcore. It’s an emotional song. ruclips.net/video/itXiwA2dNGo/видео.htmlsi=tnSkkZY75jO87fcV
Both these artists have sung this song beautifully and are both amazing singers...but just give Don McLean's version a listen...you'll be very pleased you did. You can thank me later :)
Roy's voice is 'deep' ?! Lady, you must not know the definition of a tenor. There is nothing deep about his voice. Two years later, kd did this song as a solo at his memorial concert and she absolutely killed it, earning a 4 minute standing O.
Great video, as always. Jay Black of Jay and the Americans also sang this song, I believe his version is the best. I would love to see your reaction to it. K.D. Lang's live tribute to Roy Orbison is not to be missed. She's arguably one of the finest female vocalists of our time...maybe of all time.
KD did this song as a tribute to Roy after he passed. One of the great performances of her life.
They both sang , not just with technique, but with passion. They didn't just sing it
they felt it, and as a result, we feel it too.
Seriously you have got to see KD this at Roy’s tribute. It’s a must see!!
Omg yes definitely ❤
You must now watch K.D. sing this at his tribute concert after his death. Absolutely amazing! Here, she’s actually holding back a little to match Roy.
💯

I’m surprised that they didn’t know of k d Lang, if only from her 2010 Olympic performance!
KD is a Canadian legend, you should see her version of Hallelujah which she even performed at the last Canadian Olympics
I think they should check out kd’s “Constant Craving”.
Both Roy Orbison And K.D. Lang could both sing in three octaves not many singers out there that had their range. They sounded amazing together.
Love your reactions to this beautiful song.
Crying is a VERY difficult song to sing vocally! Roy and KD together just crushed it. They both have outstanding vocals!
Thank you for this beautiful song. Brings back such memories.

Roy Orbison introduced drama to rock and roll. Try "In Dreams" (my favorite) and "Running Scared".
An operatic balladeer.

What a fantastic performance. I don't normally like listening to live videos but this was Powerful.

K.D. LANG
“CRYING”
LIVE AT MTV UNPLUGGED
ALSO:
“HALLELUJAH”
LIVE AT
THE 2010 OLYMPICS
Made me cry..
