    Imagine if Scott Horton went on to Joe Rogan's podcast and said exactly what he said in this podcast. The response from the Government, MSM, Hollywood, etc would be f*cking insane because that episode would put such a massive dent into the official narrative that's being pushed.

I as a half Ukrainian/russian myself often find myself misunderstood by many people around me here in Germany, telling the same exact things scott is talking about here just not as precise. The problem with Scott's totally on point analogy about Russia couping Ottawa, is that most Americans are completely incapable of viewing the world though anything other than an American lens. I know this from decades of debating them. I have made similar analogies hoping for understanding, but all that ever happens is that my interlocutor will pause for a moment and, in all seriousness, tell me that "When America does it, it's for the best of reasons. It's for Freedom. It's different."

      @XxMonkeyman3831xX Год назад

      So true

    • @supercoolbrian
      @supercoolbrian Месяц назад +1

      Actually, the problem is equating NATO with Russian alliances like the CSTO or whatever else. These groups mostly work with dictators like Lukashenko or that guy in Kazakhstan. If you need context for the fall of the USSR, Poland for instance, had no choice in their inclusion in the Warsaw Pact, but on the contrary, joined NATO voluntarily. Do you really need to ask why Poland or East Germany don't care about Gorbachav's feelings being hurt? People like Scott Horton view this as the US stealing Poland, or the US provoking Russia, but its actually a form of self-liberation. Scott doesn't really seem to view Eastern European countries as autonomous agents. His own words say as much when he says "the US took Ukraine from Russia." Funny... I thought the commonwealth of independent nations guaranteed their independence and sovereignty during the Belovezha Accords. Does Scott think this was BS also?
      What people don't realize is that its agreements with Russia, like when Churchill and Truman gave all of Eastern Europe to Stalin, largely created need or even desire for NATO expansion. Being the Soviets' bitch for 50 years happens to be the biggest provocation possible.
      While you're right that Americans tend to be pretty Americentric, they didn't get that way using the same ways Russia became so isolated. While what America did in Latin Ameica was undoubtedly bad, it was during the Cold War against communist totalitarian regimes like Fidel Castro or Daniel Ortega. What Russia did was invade a country on the pretense of it leaving its sphere of influence. It's slightly different

    • @acidthunder1
      @acidthunder1 Месяц назад

      Russia invaded because the people in the east in the Donbas asked them. They had been shelled since 2014 by their own Govt .
      The coup in 2014 in Ukraine (backed by the US ) was when the war started.

    • @stephenhill545
      @stephenhill545 28 дней назад +1

      It is different. As someone who has spent 5 years living in Russia, I can very well understand the desire of their former satellites not to live like them, but like us. Come and experience Russia for yourself. There is a labor shortage here. As to the coup, millions of people protested for months, and they didn't do it for the cookies. Ukranians have been trying to escape Russian domination since 1709, way before the USA existed, and when Ottowa was still called Yorktown. Scott downplays human agency, and he downplays the long history of resistence to Russian rule.

    • @ugvadugvaw
      @ugvadugvaw 28 дней назад

      @@acidthunder1I’m sorry but that is russian propaganda. They (Russia) went in covertly to Donbas with troops 2014. Been there infiltrating business and politics before that. There were no ”call from the people”. It was a fake request from installed local Kremlin puppet politicians. OSCE were there on the ground 2014-2022. No genocide or ethnic cleansing has ever been reported by them, as often cited by Putinistas as the reason for the ”SMO”. It is Kremlin propaganda. Lies. Putin wants to control Ukraine and come up with fake motives for invading when Ukrainians rather belong to Europe and want to create a Ukraine built on democratic principles and rule of law. Free from Russian influence and the corruption that comes with it.

      There is 200% hindsight is 20-20 in the historical chronology and logic here. And alot if apologist bs mixed in too. Cutting off oil sales to a nation is not a declaration of war. The US was not a vessal of the Japanese empire- therefore they are free to sell oil to whoever they want to. Same with Britain and Poland. Britain can offer a guarantee to defend Poland from German aggression. This is not responsibility for ww2. The person who actually pulls the trigger is the murderer. The scariest part about listening to Scott is that I along with a lot of others know a little bit about every point he raises and it still won't mean a damn in influencing our "leaders"because it's just so fucked up. Nothing seems to penetrate their perceptions and nothing changes their assumptions. I don't know how you can fix people who have been spoonfed their own bullshit and taught to love themselves beyond reason because, they know that if the people ever get the chance to gain power over them they would drag their bodies through the streets.I admire your determined frame of mind, Scott, and your dogged outrage towards these engineers of so much suffering. I'm still able to acknowledge my frustration with it all but I don't practice a daily liturgy anymore. That said...I still believe that the weight of a more correct world view inches us towards a more fair equilibrium.

      There is nothing bad about resisting countries which think it's okay to deport tens of thousands of kids, separating them from their parents for life, tellling them their patents didn't love them, and telling them their country doesn't exist. Having just read a little book about the parachute drops at Nijmegen and Arnhem, I'm proud to come from a country which fights this bloody evil.

    Feels like every day, I learn something that makes the crazy world feel even crazier. I knew the narrative was skewed toward Ukraine in everything that's going on, I just didn't know how or to what end. A lot of discussions I've had posed the question "why would Russia invade if they knew it would destroy them economically?", but nobody's brought up the possibility that they feel like it's the only way to stand their ground against an ever encroaching empire. There's a LOT to take in here, and I'm sure I didn't absorb it all in one go, but it helps with awareness as far as who's trying to push what story for what reason. You don't have to side with Russia to understand why they're doing what they're doing, and when the media wants to cut you off from that understanding, it makes it all the more invaluable.

Sorry but if you understood what you wrote, it's on you. He said that it was a whole complex interaction between many moronic decisions that let to WWII, beginning with the intervention of the US in WWI. Re-listen before writing emotional dumb stuff.

    This was certainly one person’s interpretation of the history of war. I would have liked to have watched a panel of a couple of people (maybe a PHD) who could debate the narrative that Scott laid out. It was obvious where his biases lay and I would have liked a real time point/counterpoint discussion. At the end it would have been great to hear Scott’s solution to the Ukraine War not his defense of Trump and the stolen election.

    13:42 The Poles wouldn't have been in a position to negotiate anything. Hitler was determined to invade Poland and subsequently attacked Poland because he wanted Germans to inhabit the area. He considered the Polish population inferior and only suitable for labour. In the last three months of 1939, the Nazis murdered some 65,000 Jewish and non-Jewish Poles. The National Socialists accused the Jews of having caused Germany's social, economic, political and cultural problems. They held them particularly responsible for Germany's defeat in the First World War (1914-1918). Some Germans were receptive to the Nazis' claims. The frustration over the lost war and the resulting economic and political crises contributed to the rise of anti-Semitism in German society. The instability of Germany during the Weimar Republic (1918-1933), the fear of communism and the economic shocks caused by the Great Depression made many Germans susceptible to National Socialist ideas, including anti-Semitism.

    How and why did the Ukraine war start?
    The US state department CIA coup d'etat in 2014, was after the many warnings by Putin going back to 2004 which were ignored. Sadly most people don't realise the start of Ukraine war in 2014, was after the Ukraine government rejected IMF and World bank loans, these had draconian rules on privatization, of Ukraine infrastructure and sale of agriculture land, mining rights and industry all must be available for sale, as collateral for the loans, this also included austerity measures on public servants and all pensions.
    Ukraine rejected this offer, then took a slightly lesser Russian loan, offered by Putin, which included "neutrality for Ukraine" and a promised 33% price discount on the wholesale price of gas, a big help to their economy.
    Ukraine would have kept control of all their resources and territories. This angered the multinationals, who were behind the IMF and World banks and triggered the coup d'etat in Kyiv 2014, which was led by US state department-CIA, they use their propaganda machine to, fear Russia and incite riots in the capital Kyiv, many US politicians turned up for the protests/riots, even Victoria Nuland was there handing out cookies and manipulating the facts. The first casualty of war is the truth.
    The US state department, CIA then backed the small Ukrainian opposition, these were full of Neo Nazis fascist, they banned all Russian speaking media outlets, they hated the Russians living in Eastern Ukraine, with a long ugly history towards those people, who were also excluded, from the 2014 electrol vote.
    The vast majority of Eastern Ukrainian citizens, emergency workers and police rebelled against this Kyiv government, due to the ban on Russian language, the Eastern Orthodox church and destruction of Soviet war memorials etc. Even the Minsk agreements, were just a NATO delaying ploy, backed by Germany and France, to build up the Ukraine war machine.
    It's all about greed, hatred & $€£¥.
    No state can compete with western MSM propaganda from Washington, US state department lies and fear mongering, can travel around the world, while the truth is still sleeping.

      2014 was a response to 2013. Where Putin tried to blackmail Ukraine into rejecting a trade deal with the EU.
