    Pretty cool that Kevlar was used for the build. Coming from a guy in the middle of a total rebuild, she definitely needs some work. That said, there are some good looking parts on the boat.

      @@bradleyferdinand9192 Hey Brad, definitely has possibilities. Just have to get the truth from the seller. It was in a property he bought so unless he can get the owner or himself sign a notorized bill of sale then I will walk away

    The other important this is the fuel tank, will have to be removed and the very least cleaned and inspected

    well the motor has the Fastrak trim and its the open deck looper so with those decals it can only be a 1992. pretty rare to see one with it as OMC only made them for 2 years.

      @@ct1762 Thank you, yes I think I misspoke and said pre 86 and meant 96. Thanks for clarifying. I am waiting on the owner to sign bill of sale notorized , if he wont then will not take it.

    That outboard is probably a 1993. Change a few electrical parts flywheel magnets and you probably be all set. It will run

      @@gregoryshamett6783 Yes I goofed on my years there, it was 96 when the changed the harness plug. I agree, as long as compression is good I bet we can clean the carbs and fire it up! What is your opinion on the VRO? Save it or just mix in the tank?

      @ct1762 11 дней назад

      no. 1993 was 1st year of the bubble cowlings. this is an open deck 1992 with the fastrak mid.

      @@OutboardDad by this time it was the OMS system. excellent but need to drain the tank, all new 1/4'' oil lines, and pressure and vacuum test the pump itself for leaks. best thing about these as they make the best fuel pump (volume wise) ever so i'd cap it off and premix.

      @ I agree, I knew they had made that pump better at one point but did not know the time frame. Always safer to just pre mix. Appreciate your knowledge and experience, would you be interested in getting on a podcast with me to talk about this boat and project motors?

    It seems to me the time, effort and money involved in resurrecting that boat stands little chance of providing a real return in pride, pleasure or value. My 2 cents.

      @@frankschannel2642 Thank you sir! It would be a big project for sure. Have you ever done a boat rebuild?

  • @Harleydogcrownline
    @Harleydogcrownline 10 дней назад

    In most cases like this it boils down to one person trying to get rid of their junk for free. It may be worth all the efforts it would take to get her sea worthy again but only to a small group of people. Their is nothing more expensive than a free boat. Personally, I wouldn't touch it. It needs a total refit, and for what materials cost, plus labor and time......

    • @OutboardDad
      @OutboardDad  10 дней назад

      @@Harleydogcrownline Agreed! Most FREE boats are very expensive. Also agree that the material cost would outweigh the value when completed. Then I also wonder about what the same size boat new costs? If we compare to new and I can get this on the water for 10k in materials not including my labor then would you think it’s worth it? Or if I just did the transom and left the soft floors to get a few seasons out of it?

    • @Harleydogcrownline
      @Harleydogcrownline 10 дней назад

      @OutboardDad in my mind, for 10g's you could buy a turn key vessel, saving a great deal of time and money. Unless your looking for a project as a hobby..... also, my thoughts on changing anything from its factory build is a compromise. Regardless of your skills and all effort, the factory build is forever lost. Most especially when a boat needs a hull up restoration. And I feel like you will never be able to spend your way to catch up to the value of the boat.

    • @OutboardDad
      @OutboardDad  10 дней назад

      @ Makes sense, unfortunately most of the boats in the 10k price range will also need this work in the next 5 yrs. Thanks for making me think

      @Harleydogcrownline 10 дней назад

      @OutboardDad well, I just bought a 21ft. Walkaround Sea Fox 2003 model. 125merc this is a self bailing no wood construction build. They are going for 8 to 12 depending on how they are set up. I got it for 7. Granted I live on the Chesapeake Bay, and fishing boats are abundant, but I would say be patient and shop around. Even if you have to look in other states. You never know what you might come across. Good luck to you my friend.
