Thanks, it's my favorite Weihrauch (until I get a 98 maybe 😁). My springer shooting has definitely improved since getting into field target. I'm more confident taking longer shots on a critter than I would have been before.
The center line of the scope tube is 2.6 inches above the center line of the barrel and is tilted down at the front slightly. This gives good alignment in the sitting position and keeps my elevation adjustment in the middle of it's range when shooting longer distances.
Thanks! Yes, I cut and finished the spring then installed custom guides. There's been other work done but those are the only things that would really eliminate the spring noise.
@Guru1ofatl thanks bud ,are these guides you have made or bought in ? What's your thoughts on packing out the inside of the piston with a steel sleeve made from a spray can ?
@@crazycressy7986 I prefer to use a guide and tophat with thin shims to isolate spring rotation from the rest of the action. I'm not a fan of sleeving the piston since it increases the friction between the piston and spring. I'm running my own guides currently but have a guide/spring kit on order from ARH. I want to try a spring with smaller wire and more preload and don't feel like making guides for it.
@Guru1ofatl cheers bud ,I've subscribed so I can keep an eye on what you do ,I have got my own lathe and might have a go ,not picking up my new HW97K until end of Feb so will give it a run in and then see what twang I have 👍
@@crazycressy7986 Thanks! The twang is more of an annoyance than an accuracy or durability issue. The factory lubrication used to be pretty horrible which prompted me to tear down brand new guns for deburing and proper lubrication. The current ones seem to be much better in this regard so I'd probably just shoot it as is and learn what hold and ammo it likes. Either way, they're hard to beat when it comes to accuracy. I hope you enjoy the new gun and follow up with your experience if you get the chance.
I changed out quite a bit after last season. I struggled with consistency using the other stock and decided to try the factory version. I've had really good results with the change so far. Hope to see you at the range!
Which Glass are You and Aimee presently using ? I also have to source some number decals for a Swift Scope. The side focus is only marked to 20 yards but easily goes down to 15' or less. Not really sure why they went that direction on the design ? 🤔
Aimee is currently using the Element Helix and I'm running a Hawke Airmax. I'm guessing their primary market is firearms which don't normally parallax down to 10. Good thing it'll actually adjust that far though!
@@Guru1ofatl Excellent... Both good, but I'm pretty sure the Element enjoys a slight advantage... of course it is a premium optic too. 😉 I love my Hawke scopes, but I will occasionally break ranks for fine glass and solid tracking. 🤷🏼♂️ Don't care what anyone tells ya, once you're over 50 even the best of us gets a little optically slutty ! 😂 Brand loyalty is all well and good but Really Nice Glass and Solid Tracking does actually win matches. 🤔
@@marcmyers1465 she is borrowing the Element from me until she finds a scope that suits her. Both of us agree that the Helix is a great scope, just needs a bit more magnification. Not sure what it says about me but I’ve been a scope slut from the beginning 😂
@@Guru1ofatlI gotta nominate you for AG Father of the year, man. All my little girl got was a new Winston 4wt. for Christmas. 😅 I've been settling into a Hawke Airmax Touch scope on the Skwerlinator 2000 since Christmas 🎁. The format is definitely unique and I honestly love it. I just wish they made a 3" eye relief version for Springers. 🤷🏼♂️ For PCP HFT I'd imagine it's a Dominator ? 🤔 But I personally love Springers... 😕
@@marcmyers1465 I should have put quotes around the word borrowing. I'm not sure I'll get that scope back but it's a good investment. 😀 The Airmax is well regarded in HFT although from what I'm seeing, many are moving to Sightron. The Airmax depth of field makes it excellent at ranging and it doesn't seem as sensitive to temperature change. A bit better clarity at 32X and the ability to reset zero without tools would make it perfect for me. I'm with you on the springer love. When it comes to mechanical devices, I tend to gravitate towards older tech in general though.
Nice HW97 🙂👍. I bet all of that training translates very well when hunting 🙂👍.

Hey ive been to jurassic park too in my last short video! Haha {Interesting sign}
thanks for the video your scope is mounted high?

Have you done anything to take out the spring twang ? Rifle sounds very nice
