  • French alphabet pronunciation lesson. You'll find learning the French alphabet particularly useful should you ever need to spell your name, your address or any other word to a French speaking person. If you're a beginner and are not yet familiar with French pronunciation, knowing your French ABC's will also help you get an idea of how French words are pronounced.
In this French alphabet lesson, I first recite the alphabet, then go over it again introducing a French word starting with each letter of the alphabet in turn and explaining the pronunciation of some of those words, to help you even further with your French pronunciation.
Hope you find this lesson useful! 🙂

Hi Cindy, I found your voice is lovely. I assumed that you were a teenager girl when I was watching your videos that are years ago where you didn't show your face. Until today I hit your profile and watched this video, I realized that you still look like a teenager as well. I am learning French. Love from Australia.

Thank you for your clear nicely paced lessons. I love your English accent, without any hint of French, if only I could speak French as well as you speak English. One thing does puzzle me is how you pronounce ‘adjectives’ with just two syllables instead of three. Never heard it pronounced that way. Many thanks for your videos.

Besides pronunciation, could you please teach us 3 elements of prosody--- stress, rhythm, and French unique intonation ? These are other sides of spoken French,
but so far all videos do not yet
    teach these essential.elements.
Wikipedia has an article on French
    intonation.
    Merci beaucoup.

Actually spelling and pronunciation does follow rules, it's just there a a lot of rules. Once you know all the rules you can figure out how to pronounce most new words by their spellings. You can watch "spelling-sound correlations in french for beginners" on the Frenchsounds channel to get a good basic overview of how to pronounce french words by their spellings.

There's no such thing as the French alphabet; A, B, C etc etc are letters of the English alphabet.
