And let me tell you it is hard to adjust back to western ways once you have experienced Asian culture. At this point I just want to cover all bases ie Philippines. But I am for sure leaving

Philippines may be behind Thailand on infrastructure, but in terms of nature and how welcoming the people are second to none. The country is the most westernize in Asia. Majority of the people speak English. The signs, instructions are all in English. The islands are always voted as the best beaches in the world ! 35% of the coral reefs in the world are in the Philippines. To put it in context, Jacques Cousteau (French explorer) describe the island of Palawan as the best place he ever saw on this planet.

Even in small carinderias in Manila offer daily fresh dishes including vegetables not just protein based. Also, you make a clear picture of filipinos being fat/obese which really is laughable. While it's true there are alot of diabetic in the philippines, that's because of their primary diet rice. Thats not hate but as he said at the beginning its his experience after lived in both Manila and Bangkok. How can someone compare without lived or visit different countries?
I have been to 17 countries around in Europa and Asia and also out from my experience , foreigners usually dont local Filipino food i can eat local Filipino food as long its from clean place. If est street food or from low quality food court, i get sick. This is how it is, if coming from West, where hygiene is very important and different climate, make different bacterial . Its different to those who are born in The Philippines, because the body is used to it.
Another thing i have noticed, Thai restaurants , i find plenty of in all countries but very hard to find Filipino restaurants .
Thai, Mexican,Italian, Chinese and Vietnamrse food, are those most famous around the world even there are around 200 countries .
If you not been so much around, just read about it or watch documentaries .

Traffic is worse in Bangkok, goods are slightly more expensive (especially local produce). But Siam Paragon is enough to make me want to move to TH, they have good quality food, a lot of imported goods at ok prices, and the elevated walkways along Sukhumvit make Bangkok safer and more pedestrian friendly than Manila. And if you want to have a staycation, the hotels in Bangkok have the best value for money, cheap yet 4-5 star international chains.
Contrast that with EDSA in the Philippines where townships are isolated from each other by longer stretches with slums in between. One stretch of Sukhumvit from Asok station to Siam station on th BTS has everything you'll ever want and need for city living.

More people means more cars, more chaotic cities, much bigger slums, more garbage on the steets. Thailand government have only one they have King no election their nation building and goals more attainable than Phil. which is democratic system theres changing of administration every 6 years so the goals and priority can be change every 6 years esp. if the new government are opposition. Phil. demographics its is an island nation group of island separated by ocean so the infra. are lot challenging than Thailand which is one big mass. Other thing Phil. are vulnerable to natural calamity than the rest of SEA region. But despite all disadvantages Phil. are keep on fighting, cannot also be underestimated even our neighboring countries in SEA region were shock coz we have rivalry among us actually 3 in 1 Phil. vs Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam here in social media which is so toxic. Despite being the poorest in terms of GDP per Capita Phil. able to transform into competitive country and rise from all adversities.

@@NomadElite The thing about is that most filipinos are very prideful, when you don't choose the Philippines some turn hostile and insult you they don't want to hear about the flaws they have in their country. This happened to me when some of my former friends from the Philippines sees that I go to Thailand and i end up dating a woman from there they choose to unfriend and never spoke to me again. Just like this one lady from the Philippines she gets all upset because I chose a thai woman and tries to embarrass me in public what a shame.

Bangkok wins hands down. I am married to a Filipina and have visited Manila many times, but the Thai capital is AWESOME and perhaps my favorite city in Asia (though I like the beaches of Thailand). Bangkok wins in just every category -- food, infrastructure, traffic, LRT, shopping and the like. I love Pinoys but Manila is a far cry from Bangkok.

Bro, Philippines may be behind in terms of infrastructure as such but in terms of nature and how welcoming the people are second to none. The country is the most westernize in Asia, majority of the people speaks English, the whole of the country's signs and instructions are in English. Philippines beaches are always on top of the best island in the world, 35% of coral reefs are in the Philippines. To put it in context, Jacques Cousteau (French explorer) describe the Philippines as the best place he ever saw on this planet.

@@jcrew6190 The question was Bangkok vs. Manila, NOT Thailand vs. the Phils. The Phils has stuff going for it like better English, friendlier people and the like. I get that as I've visited the country more than 100 times. But if I had to choose, Bangkok EASILY trumps Metro Manila (even Taguig) as there's far more to do and stuff. I've visited Bangkok under five times but I know that it's far better than Manila (at least in my eyes). I hope first that the Phils moves its capital away from Metro Manila and to a safer place away from so many natural disasters.

It's all a reflection of a progressive economy, can't blame why Thailand "economy-wise" is already superior than the Philippines. At some point before some considered both Thailand and the Philippines having twin economies. But Thailand eventually went ahead and overtook the Philippines in terms of that. It's also ironic that Thailand learned about the rich agriculture from the Philippines way back and now exports rice to the Philippines. Even some of the auto factories Philippines had, already jumped ship to Thailand.
I'm from the Philippines myself. Not downplaying, just saying some obvious facts no one can deny. The Philippine government is to blame and is a never-ending work in progress. When the economy is strong and progressive, it trickles down eventually with a positive effect and result bit by bit to other aspects.
