Could not live in Philippines on my social security check language was not good people un friendly and lost all my rights it was Philippines way or no way no change
I'm 59 years old retired, I've lived in both places and my opinion is that in The Philippines you could have a younger Girlfriend 20-30 years old (Arm candy) and don't have to go broke, but in Thailand, the girls that wants to deal with foreigners are more older like 30-45+ years old who already past their prime from their profession (the younger ones would really cost you ). In The Philippines, relationships is possible with women who are more genuine and family oriented., it seem in Thailand that life is faster and women are more about money money money and what you can do for her. So that's my humble opinion.
Pinay gf's most definitely CAN'T be trusted Myself and 2 expat mates almost got ripped off but thanks to a pinoy friend he got things sorted 👍👍👍 My mate's philosophy is " why buy when you can rent "
@@hobo1704 .,., Keep guessing, I was living in Chiang Mai for over 2 years, Mae Sot, Tak over a year, Phuket 3 months. Both of you guys are an inspiration for me. My retirement goal is still a few years away (not quite ready financially to pull the trigger), but seeing how good life can be in places like Thailand and the Philippines keeps me focused on my grind right now while keeping my eye on the prize. Great content - thank you.
I have been watching both of you for quite awhile. I retired a year ago and am heading to Thailand in 2 months. Like Paul I'm looking for a home base and plan on slow traveling around the rest of the world. I will definitely be visiting Maybelle's Coffee Garden!
What a great interview Ritchie Paul seems so relatable he’s just so honest and really laid back wish I could do what he is doing and we are both the same age .
One thing visitors and expats notice about Thai people is that they are happy and friendly. And that is attributed to them doing what Paul suggested to his former self and that is to live in the moment. On the other hand that also frustrates expats who are so used to planning for the future.
That is true, seeing people working in very competitive markets making little money and still being friendly and cheerful. Many entitled people in more affluent countries would not be as cheerful under these circumstances.
@@hechecraynes6635 Their US and UK governments purposely make their lives miserable in their home countries. I love Thailand 🇹🇭 I was married with Thai girl for 4 years but from what I heard in some ways Philippines is cheaper and easier, Thailand has things are not foreigners friendly like the visa situation is very limited; and the way that coming from government no matter if you live in Thailand as foreigner or you visit Thailand I can say almost always most of the time you will pay more, rent, taxis , in most of government places if not all , or national parks, temples, some entertainment places, some restaurants is two prices one for foreigners and one for Thai no matter if you live in Thailand or not, now if you are visiting only Thailand for a short period of time with money to spend that will not bother you much, but if you are retired and lives from a budget it will affects you for sure.

I need to find a place where I can walk most of the time. I know I could do it in Thailand, but I can't seem to find out much about The Philippines. Many of the Thai vloggers do walking tours where you can see everything. When I was there, there were probably 10 places for breakfast within a couple of blocks. A 7-11 every block. Lots of other resources within a short walk. Unfortunately, the heat and humidity were too much for me.
Excellent VIDEO 📹 👏 👍. I have been watching Sir Paul and Baby Mae since the beginning of Old Dog 🐕 New Tricks. Plus watching Baby Mae's channel. They are truly a part of my life now. Paul with his RUclips has helped me make the decision to move to the Philippines 🇵🇭 as soon as it opens up to everyone. Great Video 📹 👍 👏 👌 Stay Safe 💕 💞 🙏 🙏
Good to see you guys chat - subscribe to you both. I think the reason you guys have made real friends from online subscribers is the fact you’re both so very down-to-earth, “normal” blokes. The difference between your average vlogging RUclipsr and a TV presenter (anyone remember TVs? They’re the big, blank, black painting type thing you probably still hang on your wall) is you guys are the sort of blokes I could see myself sharing a beer with. Keep up the good work boys!
Nice interview I have been following Paul for a while he's an easy going guy. I'm also an expat on the next island to him in the Philippines and also lived in Phuket previously.
It’s funny that I became a subscriber of both Paul’s and your channel Ritchie when you both only had around 2000 subscribers , and Paul’s magic attraction is that he is the greatest story teller and he speaks so honestly and is one of the greatest and nicest people on You Tube . Paul is one of the rare few people that can sit on a sofa without any editing what so ever , and you just can’t stop listening to him . Thanks for having him your channel Ritchie as I was hanging for the old dog to travel to Thailand . And finally he did , and I’m sure you would have loved spending time with him and learning a lot from his wisdom and his out look on life . I am jealous of you Ritchie as I hope one day I get to sit and have a coffee or a cold beer with Paul and also yourself . As you are both ripping blokes 😀
Hi Richie, I subscribed to your channel pretty much as soon as you started it. You are a great bloke with true morals. Seeing you with this expat shows how humble your are and open to others. Same as myself from the north of England living in Sumatra with my wife and our 10 year old little girl. Top man my friend - a credit to RUclips 5 ☆
I’ve been watching you from the start Richie, but it’s only just dawned on me that the acronym for Richie And Maybelle is RAM, maybe it would be good to use for merchandising. Maybe on shirts and mugs?
Great interview - Richie you are gifted in this area as interviewer - thank you for the upload! You let people talk and tell their story and many do not do that.
Two unique HONEST AND REAL people. You both have a similar wave length yet both live different and are much different in life length. Wisdom from you both on meeting challenges as they come.
Hi Guys , Glad to see you and Paulie connected . Been following Paul from the beginning. He’s a great guy and tells it how it is . Great video . Thanks for sharing !!!
Great interview, Paul’s recommendation to subscribe to your channel was all I needed. Looking forward to get the Thailand spin on life too. I did visit Bangkok once and really had a great time so ready to explore more as I enter my retirement. Thanks for sharing!
Philippines for me hands down at least they listen to other people Thai people are impossible most of the time not that open minded at all not open to change its there way all the way all the time
Great Interview !! I have followed the old dog channel since 2019 to help me prepare for my trips to the Philippines. I now watch for entertainment more than knowledge. I have not been to Thailand but it is on my list of places to visit on my next travel adventure. I will Definately look you up when I get there!! Enjoy -

We all tend to look at other people and think their living stress free in western countries, yet really its not the case, its intresting to hear from other people and their reasons to relocate, thanks Richie for doing this type of video & Paul for sharing your past.
I couldn't help thinking about the Ripper / Mandrake interactions in Dr. Strangelove as I watched this interview. Completely different personalities and humour types.
Great video of two of my favorite RUclips vloggers. I value both of you guys for your honesty, tell it like it is approach and genuine character. I am subscribed to both of your channels. I really enjoy watching your channels.
Great vid. Even though i live across the border in Cambodia (recently retired at 55) it makes for interesting viewing to see how guys in PI and Thai are making it work. The locations may be different but so much is similar regarding budgets, relationships, hobbies, health etc. keep up the good work to both Richie, Paul and their significant others.
Thailand's health care is rated in the top 10 by Numbeo at #8. Philippines not so much, it's rated as #37. For perspective, US is rated as #33. Worth considering if your health is a concern. Also, the Thai Baht has recently dropped against the US dollar, so your money is worth more. Good video, I gave it a like.

Hey Richie, wow.. Paul sounds like Mickey Rourke.. haha. Serious question though, how are you getting your subtitles in your videos? I think subtitles are a great idea but don't know how to get subtitles recorded and synced with my video. Please advise.. and I love your videos!
Hi Guys great video nice to see both having a chat, as you both know I’ve be following both of your channels for a long time. I had the pleasure of meeting Richie & Maybelle and had a few meals at the coffee shop. I think Richie thought I talked to much which surprise me hearing this ( Joke I am Irish ) as I say all the time be yourself don’t try to be anybody else or do what other people would like you to be unless your a complete asshole. Don’t change a good thing. Paul & I ( Irish Paul ) are exactly the same age so we be around and seen what life has to offer, I am so happy to see both of you finding nice ladies to be with who look out and care about you. Life a journey with ups and downs so make the most of it while you can and do a little planing for your old age because money does matter without life is very tuff but don’t make it your GOD. Keep up the great work both of you Cheers Irish Paul
It's cheaper in Thailand. Rent for example in Bangkok vs Makati for something comparable in size, amenities, etc, shows you the evidence. I'm actually moving from Philippines to Thailand because it's still comparatively cheaper in Thailand. The reason I think is supply. Thailand is more developed and has more supply hence prices are cheaper.
Hi Ritchie, I enjoy all your videos along with Paul's, so it was nice seeing this collaboration. I agree with Paul having visited Pattaya Thailand for many years. The Thai immigration system is constantly changing the rules which can be extremely frustrating to someone who wants to plant roots and live in a country for many years. Also in Thailand they actually will throw you in jail or prison just for failing to report to immigration there every 2 months. That to me is crazy extreme and here in Mexico or the Philippines they wouldn't do that. Here in Mexico if you happen to overstay your FMM 6 month visa you would just pay a $40 dollar fine at the airport when you leave. The Thai government is being run for the past few years by a military junta and is also a monarchy. Many foreigners living or visiting there aren't even aware of that as well as the fact that they enforce the law of possibly being imprisoned for any criticism of the King or the Royal Family. It's not like living in the U.S. that's for sure.
With so many Filipinos here in Thailand, Have Babymae reach out to some and see how they work the visa issues. Here in the Hotel I am at, the front desk lady is from the Philippines and on occasion I have seen others from the Philippines come into the Hotel and chat with her. Maybe that angel will work.
I agree with Paul on the cost comparison between the two. I spent 3 months in each country earlier this year and found Thailand cheaper (my Filipina GF did as well) with far more bang for the buck. Infrastructure, transportation and the food wins hands down.
From my point of view, you have achieved the best possible combination - a Filipina for your GF or wife, and then live with her someplace else besides the Philippines. I tip my hat to you.
Hi Richie another interesting video good job waiting for the next one, will Pop in and see you when we come to Phuket in January all the best mate Robin from Nongbualamphu
Good chat, my only thought was if Paul lives in a dimilar type of area to Kata Beach, ie touristy, when he is talking about his budgetting or if his overheads would be lower due to location.

Greetings and stay healthy for you all. Here I am as Thailand and Philippines.
My two favourite RUclipsrs. It’s like Xmas come early in Australia 😂. I like you guys so much because you are both down to earth and decent men. Good on you guys- very inspirational! I am keen to move for all the reasons you mentioned. Thank you both so much!

Keep it up mate doing great where you are , things are going south back in the UK
You guys have a really nice coffee shop!
Maybe that angel will work.
lovely
I agree with Paul on the cost comparison between the two. I spent 3 months in each country earlier this year and found Thailand cheaper (my Filipina GF did as well) with far more bang for the buck. Infrastructure, transportation and the food wins hands down.
From my point of view, you have achieved the best possible combination - a Filipina for your GF or wife, and then live with her someplace else besides the Philippines. I tip my hat to you.
Hi Richie another interesting video good job waiting for the next one, will
Pop in and see you when we come to Phuket in January all the best mate Robin from Nongbualamphu
paul a great talker. and a great man. cool paul.
Good chat, my only thought was if Paul lives in a dimilar type of area to Kata Beach, ie touristy, when he is talking about his budgetting or if his overheads would be lower due to location.

Try just ask a Thailand or Philippines person, is it true that what I mentioned is in about Thailand and Philippines? Surely they know. Thailand and Philippines for me same score 9.5/10.
Greetings and stay healthy for you all.
