    • @carlosnorris352
      @carlosnorris352 2 года назад +5

Have to say there’s exceptions to the rule. A driver told me 400 peso from airport to business park in Cebu. Traffic was beyond crazy and meter was showing 450 upon arrival. He said it’s 400 because that’s what we agreed upon. I gave him 500 because I appreciate honesty.

@@carlosnorris352 yeah same with me in manila, once i found a driver who agreed on the meter it was about 300 pesos and going up, we were there where my hotel was suppose to be but he could not find it... so he saw me looking at the meter and said its 300 don't worry i won't charge you more.... the meter went up to 400 till he found the hotel, so yes there are some honest people out there in the taxi community as well ;)

Grab is widely used here in Thailand and Bangkok for food and taxis and other delivery services.
    In Thailand and Bangkok:
Most apartments can be rented by the week or month. They often offer a discount for 3 months. They often charge a deposit of 1 to 2 months rent if you stay for multiple months.
Condo usually require a 12 month contract to get a good price. Deposit is usually 2 months rent.
There are some condos that offer monthly rentals directly from the property, but they are not as common.
Air BnB is a good solution for 1 to 3 months. You might a pay a little more, but there are usually no deposits and often all utilities are included (water, power, internet), but check before you book.
Thai people often mind there own business and appreciate when others do the same. But when engaging them they are usually very friendly and helpful.
I've been here almost 2 years and I love it. Especially when compared to other parts of the world I've visited.
    Thanks

Definitely Thailand has better rentals, more bang for your greenback. If you are comparing Thailand/Philippine monthly rental costs don't forget to add your PI rental deposit to the total monthly cost. As Scott and many many other vloggers have said you RARELY get back your deposit in the PI even if you took good care of the rental. There will always be some excuse not to refund your deposit so consider it as part of the overall rental cost.

    • @danielhackney7806
      @danielhackney7806 2 года назад

@M J i would use the retiree visa BUT as you said there are caveats and rules. I wish they had an easier visa option like the PI. Thailand visa rules were easier 3 years ago but when they rounded up over 40,000 expats who overstated their visa's Thailand tightened up their visa rules. I even heard there were strict expat travel rules with-in Thailand so they know exactly where you are on any given day.

    • @jcinthailand

Utilities are very cheap here in Thailand. Power is $15 to $30, Fiber inter is $15, Cell phone is less than $20, water is often $1.50 per month. I have my laundry done for less than if I went and did it myself about $6 a week. And don't get me started on the very tasty yet cheap food from streets carts, Grab or any Mall.
Average studio condo (35sqm) with basic furnishings (new bed, wardrobe, tv stand, fresh paint, frig, microwave) in a nice building is less than $300 a month with a 12 month lease.

In smaller hotels in the Phils you can usually check in early with no extra charge. I checked in as early as 8 AM. At Adams View hotel in Moalboal I arrived at 10 AM and my room wasn't ready so they actually gave me a different room to hang out in until mine was ready. A major exception was Toyoko hotel in Mandaue. Their check-in time is 4 PM strictly enforced. Otherwise it was fine, nice breakfast buffet.

Yes, but Thais don't want foreigners living in their county and some are super hostile and straight out xenophobic.
To stay in Thailand long term is super hard and a huge headache. You will have to report to immigration every 90 days like you are a criminal on probation.
To stay in the Philippines long term its super easy. You don't have to report to immigration every 90 days.
Filipinos are super welcoming to foreigners and go the extra mile to be nice to you.

Filipinos are “passive aggressive “ towards foreigners. They just pretend to be friendly and welcoming.
Also Filipinas don’t date foreigners unless she is a “single mom, chubby or old and worn down”. Basically foreigners get leftover women Filipino men don’t want!
Most foreigner gf and wives are a 3 and below, especially in the cities eg Metro Manila, Cebu and Davao.
Foreigners probably do better in the province if they are willing to financially support the girls family.

Grab is the perfect companion in most of Southeast Asia. You can use it in Thailand as well, although there is Bolt as a local app, which is even a bit cheaper.
The taxi drivers in Bangkok also often do the "No english, no meter" game...just a bit less blunt as in Manila. For business trips where u need receipts, you can really forget about it and just stick to Grab.
I do like Manila, but the price levels for a good hotel are insane. Bangkok has nice options for every price level. The 5 star experience is also more affordable there (can always get a cheap deal somewhere)
Bangkok is simply more buzz and excitement, but I'm all with you that nobody beats Filipinos on genuine friendliness.

  • @สุทธิศักดิ์มธุรพงศากุล

Thai people value privacy and respect and will respect individual rights.
But if you need to ask for help or come talk, they will be happy to help and be friendly to you.
They usually do not interfere with personal matters, the third gender, age, status, or try to be interested in your personal matters. or come to greet you first because of respect and respect each other
Thai people don't like being praised. But I like the truth. If it's not good, Thai people are ready to accept it and improve it. and accept criticism If it is true, you will not be satisfied or try to accept only compliments, do not criticize or respond even if it is true but not accepted. Because it will prevent development.

I'm flying into Manila next month, I'm going to meet a girl if only talked to online. I'm worried, I can think of a thousand scenerios where this could go wrong. If she ghosts me when I land, I don't know what I'm going to do. Is there any Westerner ANYWHERE who might meet me for coffee and school me a little when I get over there?

Filipinos are "passive aggressive " towards foreigners. They just pretend to be friendly and welcoming.
Also Filipinas don't date foreigners unless she is a "single mom, chubby or old and worn down". Basically foreigners get leftover women Filipino men don't want!
Most foreigner gf and wives are a 3 and below, especially in the cities eg Metro Manila, Cebu and Davao.
Foreigners probably do better in the province if they are willing to financially support the girls family.
      Hope this helps.
Also that girl will probably be hitting you up for money 24/7.
You also going to have to pay for everything including for her family. Hehehe. You been warned

If she ghost you what i doubt in my experience filipinas are not like western woman where there is a much bigger chance they will not turn up. But if she do, you can always go to places like Angeles,Olongapo or maybe a little bit nicer with beaches puerto galera area sabang is a nice place where there are a lot of tourist. It is easy to meet woman in the Philipinnes so if she doesnt show you can always find another one or just have some fun in the bars if you are up to that. It is very easy and cheap to travel around most of filipino speak english so you can always ask and there are plenty of hotels to find with decent prices like 1500 to 2000 peso a night. Anyway goodluck.

Yes, but Thais don't want or like foreigners living in their country and some are super hostile and straight out xenophobic.
It's a lot easier to integrate to to a Filipino family after you marry their daughter and sister than a Thai family after you marry their daughter and sister.
If you want a combination of the best that Philippines and Thailand has to offer minus the red light districts, go to Malaysia.
Lived there for 1 year. Was the best experience I ever had.

Also we have best transportation that could reach to the airport without taxis by airport rail link. as well as Metro MRT,BTS, BRT and coming next this year is LRT.

I notice some similarities with the phillipines and mexico, which is where I am at the moment. Perhaps it is related to the previous spanish colonial rule. There are cultural similarities, such as very strong family values. People are also generally very friendly and social in mexico, and it seems the same in the philipines. In mexico the form of communication is a bit more indirect compared to in english speaking countries. Also in mexico there is a lot of scammers, and theives too. Don't get me wrong, there are tons of good mexicans, but a lot of mexicans don't really see a big problem with taking advantage of a situation or lying. So obviously thai people are really more honest in comparison, and I like that.

Not all Filipinos speak English. For example, Thai people also do not all speak English. Plus, those who speak English speak with a British accent that isn't very good.

I like your channel as it's more on the lines of a face to face sit down story telling (with the odd photo and Google maps video).
But this one is more on the lines of the other vloggers, who are "all picture and no "real" content".

You should probably mention in your Thailand vs. Philippines comparison that Thailand is way bigger than the Philippines just to provide context, Bangkok alone is about 2.5 bigger than manila therefore has way more choices and just a bigger economy in general. Economically Thailand will always be richer that the Philippines just due to geography and therefore resources and accessibility, their GDP is bigger and thus are able to afford more opportunities for better quality and higher standard facilities that your western viewers look for in third world countries.

There's more affordable. You'll save more in Chiang Rai or even one of the big four in Isan. Settle somewhere not cemented on tourist trails and you'll get cheaper still. The less foreigners you see and the more Thai you speak, the cheaper things will be. For me it's hard to beat the North.

Dating in both Philippines and Thailand are horrible. The women don’t like foreign men.
You will only get left overs , women that the local men don’t want eg single mom, chubby , older worn out women or a prostitute”. Oh I forgot Thailand is probably worse because the lady boys are everywhere and some are very aggressive. Also most foreigners and Thai women are transactional relationships.
Visit both and walk the malls and look at the quality of women that foreign men are with. Hehehe

when i was walking along pattaya i was approach by a freelancer.. she talk to me in Thai language she taught im thai. i said im a Filipino.
she laughed and surprise.. filipino and thai same.same. i said .. yes same.same but different. she laughed. philippines have bars. massage. traffic. building design seems same. roads. night market. street vendors. street foods.
but thailand has good night market and street food than manila. bigger bars. large massage parlor. money rate is .50cents larger in favor of thailand. almost EQUAL. exchange. yes i can say ..
LOTS of similarities in environment.. but thailand is much bigger.

Thailand wins in almost every category. Infrastructure, world class foods, great healthcare, easy to get around entire country without flying or boats, more multicultural many more people from other countries, they dont have the noise pollution aka dogs barking and roosters, also animals are not mistreated in thailand like in Philippines. shall i continue they are a first world culture not 3rd world like Philippines, women don’t have Compo, so much begging on the streets driving me nuts. Philippines is fun to island hop and get out.
