Then you apply 12 volts to the car 12v battery. Now you can open the trunk and pull the cord that will release for the charger.
@darwinbarrie751 because this situation is so unlikely that it's not even worth putting a key. It'll make the car less secure just for this one in a billion chance. There's a reason these cars are nearly impossible to steal. A key would make them VERY possible to steal.
The plug from the charging station cannot be removed because the power station is charging the car. Unsafe to disconnect and cause a spark. An Emergency stop would kill the power making it safer to remove the connection.
He called Tesla and wasn't getting a response, so I tried and pretended my car was dead on the side of the road and they didn't respond to me until after I left. As much as I like Tesla, their roadside response sucked.
I love this lady, she is just too funny! I say that as a Tesla fan. Come on Tesla owners, learn how to take care of you cars! Everyone should know how to jump the 12V and the pull in the trunk to unlock charge port!
I am with you on her character. Even though I disagreed with her, she was fun. However, I'm not sure everyone needs to know how to jump the 12v. It is probably very rare that it needs done. Also, different models are different on where to access the 12v. I just had a very rare experience where my 12v was dead. Tesla service had trouble opening my frunk. Anyway, I think the real lesson here is to not drive to minus 5%.
There are few people who were more enthusiastic over EV's than me. I'm nearing my 70's. My father use to say "You would have to pay me to drive one of those" I think that's where I'm at now.
Charger cable won’t disconnect because the car cannot be accessed to turn on or have any power to it , without the power on it won’t release the cable , it’s stuck till someone from tesla can intervene

That would of been easy to take care left front bumper has a pull tab to open the hood. Use a jumper box to open the car. If the charge port failed there is a other pull tab as well. Both had no idea. Need some education on this
EV car makers should make all EVs battery swappable. In this way it is easy to replace battery. And if they change the nature of the battery to sodium ion battery or silicone battery, etc., then it is more competitive than just one battery type. You have to be flexible to be the best.
What if you couldn’t remove it because the car wasn’t level and there are plenty of sensors in the car that will easily tell of the car isn’t level to prevent improper use
Typically people charge at home, where it’s cheaper than gas. For daily driving you never have to visit a supercharger. You only go to superchargers if you don’t have home charging as an option or your driving long distance. I typically tell people if you can’t install a charger at home, then an EV is not for you.
Teslas have both a high voltage battery and a 12 volt battery. The high voltage battery charges the 12 volt battery just like an alternator does on a gas car.
12 volt battery was dead because he pushed the main battery way too far. The main battery charges the 12v battery like the alternator does on a gas engine. It makes sense that it would eventually die, too. Which it did and created this crazy situation.
It was an older X and I wasn't exactly sure how to do it. I tried, but when it wasn't easy, I gave up. It was not my car and the owner was not supportive of my efforts..
I am going to assume you mean the 12v battery. It is charged from the electric in the main battery, no need for an alternator. The problem here was the main battery was completely dead and didn't have any energy to charge the 12v

Then you apply 12 volts to the car 12v battery. Now you can open the trunk and pull the cord that will release for the charger.
sure you bet how about a key that overrides all the hocus pocus. This is what you get fir driving your TV.
@darwinbarrie751 because this situation is so unlikely that it's not even worth putting a key. It'll make the car less secure just for this one in a billion chance. There's a reason these cars are nearly impossible to steal. A key would make them VERY possible to steal.
@@iROMine nobody wants them that's why they aren't stolen.
@darwinbarrie751 yeah that's why they're one of the best selling cars in the world now. Because nobody wants them. 🤡
@@iROMine I see you identified yourself at the end of your post.
Hope Tesla will provide a way to put the car into neutral without need for batteries
The plug from the charging station cannot be removed because the power station is charging the car. Unsafe to disconnect and cause a spark. An Emergency stop would kill the power making it safer to remove the connection.
Fun to see everybody, enjoying their electric vehicles.
Did anyone not think to contact Tesla help center 😂
He called Tesla and wasn't getting a response, so I tried and pretended my car was dead on the side of the road and they didn't respond to me until after I left. As much as I like Tesla, their roadside response sucked.
This video makes me so happy that I don't own Tesla junk. 🙂
That lady seem to make more sense than elon musk and all his employees together 3:30😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I drive an ev and I often lend it to people. 9 times out of 10 they end up loving it. It's not even a fancy one. Just a 2020 e golf.
Well at least you can make new friends while your stranded 😅
Lol, I think he had a lonely night waiting for tesla service.
Charger cable won’t disconnect because the car cannot be accessed to turn on or have any power to it , without the power on it won’t release the cable , it’s stuck till someone from tesla can intervene
Why would you not ground the jump box to the battery. This whole idea of finding a random ground is ridiculous.
Because it is not my car and you need to remove the frunk to get to the battery.
Go away lady
Yea go away lady, we dont want to hear the truth.
Dang! Long live my 1998 Chevy Malibu. 🤨
So how did the Tesla get off the tow truck?
There is another follow on video you can watch, link should be in the description, but basically he did what I tried to tell him in the beginning and let it slide off the back and he pulled the bed out from under the front. It was crazy his truck started having issues. It was not a good day for him.
Did we ever try to use the app??
I don't think so, I didn't think to ask, but pretty sure once the 12v battery was dead the app couldn't connect either.
I'm so glad my Tesla has never had this problem but I never let it go dead
I think there is a panel on the outside to jump the 12volt.
Seen a lot of people having big problems with this electric vehicles,I'm sticking out with my hybrid..!
I will call a vacuum cleaner company 😂
That would of been easy to take care left front bumper has a pull tab to open the hood. Use a jumper box to open the car.
If the charge port failed there is a other pull tab as well.
Both had no idea.
Need some education on this
If you could get in the car can can pull a string and manual release it
Problem was with this older model X you cannot easily access the 12v battery. Newer models likely won't have this problem
The 30% to 85% rule helps ur battery in its long-term
Go green. It'll be fun they say.
EV car makers should make all EVs battery swappable. In this way it is easy to replace battery. And if they change the nature of the battery to sodium ion battery or silicone battery, etc., then it is more competitive than just one battery type. You have to be flexible to be the best.
What if you couldn’t remove it because the car wasn’t level and there are plenty of sensors in the car that will easily tell of the car isn’t level to prevent improper use
yes it's the 12v. Tough break with electric cars.
What’s even dumber is that these superchargers cost almost the same as gas and their powered with fossil fuels anyways.
There is some truth to what you say, but not enough to make it an accurate statement.
Typically people charge at home, where it’s cheaper than gas. For daily driving you never have to visit a supercharger. You only go to superchargers if you don’t have home charging as an option or your driving long distance. I typically tell people if you can’t install a charger at home, then an EV is not for you.
@@karthik11512 i cant install a home charger so looks like im sticking to gas
So in other words if your gonna have a Tesla u need a back up car cause the Tesla is only good for driving around your home town
@@MrKarmapolice97 no?
That is one smart woman☺️
I love my Toyota Prius
She said "Google it"
😂😂😂
Trick question: How many people does it take to unplug a car?
poor tow truck driver, hope they refuse to deal with these, they should as they are not really cars, their computers.
In the front a 2 jumper points points. I hope jumper cave open 12 volt batteries enabled to access the car
The more I learn about electric vehicles the less I like them
But ... did this Tesla have a 12V battery, or was it a higher voltage?
Teslas have both a high voltage battery and a 12 volt battery. The high voltage battery charges the 12 volt battery just like an alternator does on a gas car.
Did he get it charged enough?
Manual release?
Wow! Yet another issue with Tesla vehicles! Those vehicles seem to have sooo many problems!! 🙄
Only if you watch the news and focus on the negative. My Tesla has been an amazing car for over 5 years now.
There’s an emergency release on the inside of the charger
Intetesting, where is it?
I thought this was the lawyer kid for a sec
Stupid people lead to stupid results
People can’t even use google so let’s put them in a car that is 100% a computer 😂😂😂😂😂 nice one Elon
Can’t open the trunk?😂😂😂😂😂 well 😂😂😂
It went from Tesla dead battery almost into full blown racist mode.
Vinfast the best of the best for get Tesla
This more common than you think. Maybe all the missing hoses were not stolen for the copper after all.
Dudes all gettin butt hurt over a female making fun of their electric cars 😂
Either the 12 volt battery is dead or the car is in theft prevention mode
12 volt battery was dead because he pushed the main battery way too far. The main battery charges the 12v battery like the alternator does on a gas engine. It makes sense that it would eventually die, too. Which it did and created this crazy situation.
Don’t you need to jump the 12v battery to get it charging?
YES
Nice
I want to buy an EB now love all the drama
Great technology
U need to charge 12v to 12v without the other car running if its an ice car you are jumping from
On the older models it is harder to get to the 12v battery. I think the newer ones are easier to get to.
Why did it took them forever to jump the 12V battery?
It was an older X and I wasn't exactly sure how to do it. I tried, but when it wasn't easy, I gave up. It was not my car and the owner was not supportive of my efforts..
Why cant testla put like an altetenator so it charges the battery while it drives..so it doesnt need to charge it???
I am going to assume you mean the 12v battery. It is charged from the electric in the main battery, no need for an alternator. The problem here was the main battery was completely dead and didn't have any energy to charge the 12v
This is why EV sales are down but a lot. People now see how painful it is to own/lease these crappy, soulless teslas.
When you don’t read the manual
Damn why did you cut it off before end
Those Gen x engineers at Tesla have got no foresight
She was funny . Shes a natural
I made a video to respond to comments and also explain how you can make sure this doesn't happen to you if you drive a Tesla. ruclips.net/video/xZjjI1Oj8LI/видео.html
