Anthony Edwards wants MJ comparisons to stop, face of the NBA & his confidence | NBA on ESPN

- For decades the NBA Playoffs were dominated by the likes of LeBron James, Steph Curry and Kevin Durant. However, this year a new group of superstars emerged, led by Anthony Edwards, who looks to become the new face of the NBA. I caught up with Ant during the Timberwolves’ playoff run, the faces of the NBA and the Michael Jordan comparisons.

He is not just talented and confident he is a respectful and a highly intelligent young dude.
yes.... very humble, as well. He is the made in the mold of MJ/Kobe or just an old school mold, game-wise and mentality.

Tatum is allergic to defense is what I’ve heard
Tatum doesn't have to do much carrying, he can relax.
Reason why he said Tatum maybe is because Tatum is hated by literally everyone, definitely y'all the question is about the face of the league even ant knows Tatum is hated, the question isn't about who is the best because there's a lot of guys in the league that wasn't mentioned by any,so if he snubbed your favorite player off the list ,does that make it law?

I don’t think the media will promote a European as the face. Why the draft is so important. One man just switched the team from the bottom to the top.
Football is my favorite sport but i appreciate the draft in the nba to make the league more competitive and less predictable. In most football competitions in europe, you have 3-4 top teams which win the leagues 9 out of 10 compared to rest 16 teams. These teams always gets the best players and most money from media, which makes it hard to compete for teams with smaller budgets.
Not every draft has one of these unfortunately
You haven't been watching Minnesota basketball lol
Huh? Their defense is a huge part of why they're so good. They're #1 in defensive proficiency and just #17 in offense

MJ’ gonna take it personal hearing him say he’s got a trey ball😂😂😂 Man if people back then were critical of Mike not getting great at 3s we would’ve seen a even more lethal MJ
It’s always woulda coulda when it comes to Jordan. He couldn’t even finish a career without 3 retirements!
@@Commenting800 lol, always for Jordan 🤡, except for Jordan it’s what he could’ve done to be even more unreachable…he needs it the least out of literally everyone who’s ever played nba, get your shit take outta here 🤣
They were once critical in 1992…
MJ proceeded to set the NBA Finals record for 3’s in a game with 6…and he did it in the 1st half alone. He shot 60% from deep that game, so this false narrative that he couldn’t shoot 3s is just incorrect, and he only did that to prove a point…he hated settling for 3s, hence why he only averaged 0.5 attempts/game during his career.
He also broke the NBA Finals record for points in a half that game with 35 in the 1st half.
@@Commenting800you’re a 🤡
It wasn’t woulda coulda shoulda, read my previous comment and you’ll see he set an NBA Finals record for 3s in a game and did it in the 1st half alone in Game 1 in 1992…the shrug game. All because the media said Drexler was a better 3pt shooter.
thats definitely mjs bitter lost son lol
Nah, Bruh... Go back and watch the Bulls vs Blazers series and tell me that MJ didn't have a 3 ball. What these players don't understand is, MJ didn't really buy into that shot, so technically that was his worst shot, but he was so good at shooting, he could still hit that shot better than a lot of guys. MJ was all about the mid-range and attacking and that's why he fouled out so many guys "Ant" or got them in foul trouble and when you do that, you force that player to go to the bench and that really changes the game in your team's favor. MJ knew how to win, Bruh.
I'll tell you where the comparisons can stop.... MJ23 was one of the best defenders to play the game. I true two-way player who dominated on both ends of the floor.
You ain't there yet "Antman"... We'll talk again when you get on a level of your own, place every other player in the league beneath you, will you team to win when they go clearly lose and place at least 5 championship rings on your fingers... Then we can talk MJ.
I don't see "Ant" dominating over "Wemby" 'tho.'

Love the fact he just wants to be him. That's how everyone should feel. Be you.
Nothing good has ever come out a Malika andrews interview. Remember that ja clip “we good in the west” wolves are getting swept it’s so blatant.
I remember reading a book on the Yankees of the late 60s when it was falling apart. Near the end, the author wrote about a rookie showing up. He wrote that the Yankees didn't know at the time but that wasn't a rookie walking into the clubhouse it was the light at the end of the tunnel. That player was Thurman Munson. I feel like when Minnesota drafted Ant on a November night in the middle of COVID, he wasn't a rookie, he was the light at the tunnel.
That i got a trae ball was crazy
MJ would’ve said the same

He's confident but he also has a humility about him. He's grounded.
This guy made me become a fan of this sport. Hello from Finland and lets go Wolves!!
Very humble!!
Too early to say. Derrick Rose was also like this and the sensation the basketball fans gave him. We hope Anthony Edwards would be successful as the G.O.A.T.s
Ant is an inspiration. He doesn't talk about it publicly, but he lost both his mother and grandmother to cancer within an 8-month span when he was 15 years old. Just imagine that happening at that age. His older brother and sister then took shared legal custody until he turned 18. The impact of this on his maturity has to be immense. He had to grow up fast. He's hardened, yet empathic and warm. Can't wait for my guy to inspire a whole new generation. Wolves in 4.
Why are the answers better than the question! Low key ANT MAN.. if you keep this up you’ll be in the conversation with the YG “Young Goats!
Too early to compare Ant to the GOAT. Jordans basketball journey starting from North Carolina is not at all comparable to Edwards. Let Edwards earn his rings first then we'll talk about Mj .

Everything Anthony Edwards is doing is beyond crazy.
At just 22 years old, Ant is making an absolute mockery of the reigning NBA champs on their own home court.
He’s 6-0 in these playoffs with a postseason average of 32.3 PPG, which is more than MVP candidates Luka Doncic and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
Edwards makes every big shot down the stretch, he’s one of the most athletic players in recent memory, and his trash-talking and raw emotion make him the greatest entertainer in the game today.
He’s also part of a defense that’s so elite it just held the Denver Nuggets to 80 points, despite the Minnesota Timberwolves not even having the DPOY in uniform.
The Anthony Edwards era of superstardom has well and truly arrived, and there might not be a single team in the NBA that can do anything to stop him.
