Whoever they get in as Jean, my only hope is they can NOT dive into Pheonix for at least one phase. Let Jean just be Jean. Let the Character become liked as a person first. Set down a solid foundation for her personality/identity and how she related to others in the cast. That way when (if) they do a Pheonix arc, there's a legitimate conflict of identity. The big issue with the last few Jeans was the Pheonix was just Jean. Meaning her character was just fundamentally unstable/evil, as the first taste of power she has she's in conflict with everyone who are supposed to be her friends. Jean and Pheonix need different world views, desires, and motivations such that a struggle for control makes sense.
Oh hell yeah, this is a great cast, and it's a great indicator for the fact that they might be doing the actual First class: Jean Grey, Cyclops, Beast, Angel and Iceman which also aligns with the report that Wolverine will not be in the first X-men movie which is amazing, it means they're sticking to the story of the comics

I was thinking the same thing. Jean and Scott were the most experienced so this is going to be a really young cast. Which works for the first class.

After the last season of Stranger Things, pretty much everyone made this prediction. People did the same with Sophie Turner during Game of Thrones. There aren't many red-haired actresses that hold weight in Hollywood. I can also see Sabrina Carpenter as Boom Boom or Dazzler.

First of all, yal know why I’m here.. Second, Sadie would be a great pic I think, gives the character longevity and this age range of casting could open us up to a whole new cast of mutants and have them grow/expand the characters again/more.
One thing I love about the X-Men is that you don't have to worry about seeing someone with just a "power suit" or equipment..the power is within them..love those X-Men..(sorry Batman😂)
Finally they cast a natural red head to play a red head, now as long as they don't race swap Rogue then I'll be excited to see the new X-Men. Respect the source material.
Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, and cast at 22, could REALLY give her the time to develop from a meager first student to becoming Phoenix (and beyond, a la current title...?).
my only beef is that heroes coming out of the MCU, for some time, have been OP out of the gate. what i miss from the old guard is the ACTUAL STRUGGLE of what it meant to have mutant abilities you couldn't easily control. the first two X-Men movies did that VERY well, along with playing the allegory of civil rights... something i'm not sure Disney's Marvel is going to focus on... at least, not in a subtle way.
