Introducing the greater scope villain in a Disney Plus show was a bad move, but one other way they significantly botched Kang was changing Quantumania's ending at the last minute. There was a leak going around last summer which summarised the movie in accurate detail if you read it now. That is, until you reached the climax. Instead of opening a portal back to Earth, the "Ant Fam" (another abandoned plot point) had Quantum wristwatches based on the devices Tony built in Endgame. These watches are fixed, and they go back to Earth, but Scott is left behind, and Kang beats the shit out of him ala Thanos in Infinity War. Hope goes back for Scott, but this is what Kang wanted. He steals her Quantum device and escapes, leaving Scott and Hope stranded. Kang in Quantumania was going to be the main antagonist of The Kang Dynasty. One thing I’ve noticed in Phase 4 amidst the haphazard development is that each movie ended with the main character out of action. Nobody remembered Peter Parker was Spider-Man, Doctor Strange was in the Dark Dimension, Thor was off on his own with Love, and now Ant-Man and Wasp were trapped in the Quantum Realm. Then they abandoned this and said that Quantumania Kang was just a variant. This is how you shoot yourself in the foot. Ironically, Ant-Man well and truly put a stop to Kang's conquest in real life.
I remember reading the original ending for Quantumania and thinking it would’ve been much better than the one they ended up going with. That being said, the whole Kang/Jonathan Majors situation was a bit of an unfortunate mess that we can’t really put a lot of blame on Marvel Studios for.
The funny thing is in the 2005 run of the what-if comics, all stories of that run took place within the same universe of earth 717. So having all these episodes take place in the same universe like you mentioned in the intro wouldn't be the first time they have done it.
How I’d rewrite the Multiverse Saga (these r just ideas I have): After Endgame: have a 3 yr hiatus to properly plan their future, so that vfx workers don’t get murdered and stories can be written better Phase 4: Introduce the new Avengers and X-Men, Loki, No Way Home, culminate with avengers and x men fighting Kang while laying the groundwork for Doctor Doom Phase 5: Develop New/Young Avengers and X-Men, explore the broader multiverse like how Spiderverse did, Spider man 4 as street level story, introduce f4, develop them and Doom, culminate with Secret invasion AS AN AVENGERS MOVIE Phase 6: Develop the heroes, introduce Eternals, spider-Man 5 to have buildup while maintaining street level status, Doomsday and secret wars culminate Please note, these r just ideas and they may not be perfect.
I have done things differently after the infinity saga,I wouldn't do sagas anymore,I would condence story arc into one phase and with the disney shows now it would defenetly be possible to do so. Phase 4 would have a been a" filler" phase - Phase 4 :filler phase, use to set a new status quo and establish black panther,dr strange & Captain marvel as the new mcu trinity - Phase 5:secret invasion story arc - Phase 6: multiverse arc - Phase 7:mutant
@ I get u… I’m just saying phase 4 had so much potential. They just fell short of it because of the terrible decisions made by Disney. I think what they could have done was limit the amount of Disney plus shows. Carol, Dr strange, black Panther? Honestly, it coulda worked. I can see why spider man isn’t in there bc Sony still holds the rights. That plan woulda came to play, but Strange has a limited presence, not many ppl like Carol, as evident with The Marvels flopping, and tragedy happened, which was not Marvel’s fault; no one knew Boseman had cancer, that was the sad part. We could have had more of Shuri, explore her as the new Black Panther more, in phase 5 at least. But I get you. Phase 5, I felt like it could have done something to build up to secret wars more clearly, like Secret Invasion could have been an avengers movie that could have planted some seeds for the movies, but thanks to the horrible decisions made by Disney, it got reduced to a low stakes show and one of the most useless projects yet. But I get you
@@noobmaster69426 I do agree that phase 4 had potentiel(there was really one bad movie tbh). - I choose these 3 is because they were the biggest characters to have their own movies and are own by Marvel studio. - I would have recasted tchalla with aldrick hodge(the guy who played hawkman in black adam) he would be a nice fit.
I actually want there to be an equivalent to the new ultimate universe after Secret Wars. This would allow the opportunity to do new takes on Iron Man or Captain America without jeopardizing the main MCU. Other than a bit of history alteration involving mutants and the FF, I don’t see the main MCU changing much post-Secret Wars.
@@linkthenewheroofhyrule7491 Great idea! Like you said, the MCU probably won’t change too much post Secret Wars so an ultimate universe forming after that event would work really well. As much as I’d love to see it, I do think that the new ultimate universe might be slightly too new to comics to be adapted in live action.
Yeah, it doesn’t have to be the new Ultimate universe. It honestly doesn’t even have to be a whole new shared universe. Just completely standalone stories with characters that the main MCU technically can’t use anymore. Pretty much what James Gunn wants to do with the DCU and Elseworlds.
I was actually just sayin how marvel could do well going about movies the same way DC is with gunn. Having the main MCU but allowing other stories told with characters that dont impact the main movie timeline.

@@noobmaster69426 secret invasion should have been the story arc of phase 5 not just an avengers movie
@ fair
I'd also take another Spiderman if it took place in the 60s. He crosses over with the fantastic 4 constantly, it would work so well
Same here! Been thinking how cool that would be since F4 was announced to be set in an alternate 1960’s!

That would work out perfect like dc’s elseworlds
Considering secret wars is a reboot
The entire MCU is gonna change
Like DCEU to DCU

If they brought back Jonathan major I would be excited for anything he does
