Why The Lion King x Hamilton?
This was a project during my senior year in college when I was in an advanced storyboarding class. The project was to storyboard a musical number. You could do anything you want but the catch is that you MUST use pre-existing character models. I picked Hamilton, because I liked this song. I also picked The Lion King because I felt this song fit pretty well with Scar.

I wish this were a legit scene in the movie. I know it's canon the whole Scar wanting Nala to be his queen, but this whole storyboard is perfect. I never would have imagined this would fit so well in song and story.
God dammit Disney we need mature animated remakes of classics. Quit the live action shit
TempleAmarok there’s a deleted song called the madness of king scar that shows exactly that, it’s been released on RUclips and animated as well.

To expand on that for some people, who may be confused as to how 'official' it is:
The storyboard and soundtrack, called the madness of King Scar was deleted in the movie.
However, it was restored and used in the Broadway Musical.
A small group of animators used the storyboards of the original, and the sound/music from the Series, to imagine what it would have been like if it hadn't been deleted.
The deleted version looks like this: ruclips.net/video/zl8gDjaHWWA/видео.html and used a reprise of Be Prepared.
And the same scene from the Musical: ruclips.net/video/wqUbkD-uAp8/видео.html (Starting at about 4:04), was similar in tone, but used an original song, known as the Madness of King Scar.
The fanmade version, using the music and sound from the Musical: ruclips.net/video/1kGEz1zDGgY/видео.html
was a combination of the two, using animation and setting similar to the deleted version, but following the Broadway versions lead on which song to use.

Wow, I got goosebumps.
I can feel the anxiety, the anxiety you get when you do something that sets in motion trauma and events you can not take back, after she scratched Scar, and then what appeared to be Sarabi or Sarafina defending Nala to her death. It was then Nala knew she could no longer passively live there, she had to go find Simba to save the remaining lionesses.
Seeing as Zazu is dead too, this is possibly a alternate timeline. Or a more adult.... realistic version of The Lion King.
A much more dark, but full and powerful version.
Let's face it, nature isn't bubbly. When a male lion is replaced.... many family members will die. Usually young cubs, but it also includes 'old' and 'useless' females. Sigh. So, it's perfectly believable Scar would have any that opposed him slaughtered, especially if they are 'useless' for breeding.
Did I mention how amazing that dude's singing is? Hell, I'm willing to overlook it sounds nothing like the true character. I don't care. Still encaptures the character's insane air. The lyrics are god damn AMAZING and fitting.
I couldn't imagine the blood, sweat, and tears you put into this 3 minute long animation. Not just with the act of drawing some frames... but with what the frames are showing us. You are telling a story we have not seen before. And it's amazing. Phenomenal work!

Based on the movie itself, the lioness who attempts to protect Nala is her mother, Sarafina. She is noticeably missing when Simba and Nala return from the rainforest to commit a coup against Scar’s regime.
Realistic reason: There was a lack of enough screen time to include Sarafina during the later parts of the film. However, her introduction by name makes it’s strange that she isn’t included at the movie’s climax.
My personal fan-theory: The events featured in this animation were probably more accurate to what happened between Simba’s “death” and Nala’s escape. Given the “Shadowland” song on broadway, Scar likely attempted to seduce Nala. So, Sarafina intervenes resulting in her death (or injury) that prevents her presence during the fight between Scar’s hyenas and Simba’s pride.

Srsly tho, this is amazing. I am actually stunned at how creative this is, the movement is purposeful and bold and meaningful and the expressions convey emotions so well. The fear and desperation and courage of the lionesses contrast with Scar's ruthlessness perfectly. I think Im in love.
1:34 I love the parallel between this moment and the stampede scene from the movie. Something about it makes me think that maybe, in this scenario, the rest of the pride *know* that Scar killed Mufasa, but he and the hyenas are just too powerful for the lionesses to do anything about it.

Fun fact. This song in polish version is ,,przyjdzie czas" when meanwhile song from lion King ,,be prepared" is also ,,przyjdzie czas". So from somebody from Poland this crossover (or how you would like to call it) is just perfect
Now I think about it, we only saw Sarabi after the Time Skip.... No sight of Sarafina.

Fun fact: Sarafina's voice actress made an appearance in the sequel, though the lioness she was voicing doesn't look much like Sarafina (she doesn't sound that much like her either, but I suppose that could be justified by the fact that she'd be older at that point), so there's some debate as to whether or not it's actually Sarafina herself. Like in the first film, she only has one line, directed at Kiara: "My, how you've grown!"
Tbf Nala is virtually unrecognizable in TLK 2 as well.
CJCroen1393 The animatr did confirm in the description that it was Zazu's skeleton, Zazu was very much alive after the time skip. Ontop of that, he appeared in the second film as well

I was Ed (which I had way too much fun with) in my school play, The Lion King, and the whole cast was obsessed with Hamilton. This reminds me of those amazing rehearsals so thank you for this bringing

Now, this really put a smile on my face. I am particularly not a Scar-Nala fan but hey the song fits perfectly so not-complaining. Love your shooting, good flow and it goes perfectly with the beat.

If anyone is confused
This was a scene in The Lion King that was deleted because it got taken too far with how close Scar and Nala were, Scar tried to convince Nala to be his new Queen by getting so close to her she scratched him on his face, that was the original but this is what it's actually based on, and different animated as of they switched the scenes with the original to make it different and better than the original.
I actually really like, that this animatic perfectly fits the story of the original film
Love how it's based from the deleted scene and personally would have preferred it to stay in as it shows scar as someone who's entitled and would add reasons why nala would be upset for simba refusing to go back

You did such a good job with this! There's something so sinister about how you draw Scar's expressions, I love it. You also make Nala look so young which, props! It looks great, and very professional too! It's hard to tell you were short for time. I've been watching this repeatedly for two days now.

Dude canon he had nothing to do with her relation wise. Him wanting nala is a big cut out song that was so uncomfortable by how badly he was wanting her it was cut all together. This is apart of the original
Tellme Why that was dropped early on from canon so there wouldn’t be incest between Simba and Nala.
No, have you ever wondered how she always beats Simba? Well her father was the strongest lion in Scar's lion guard so the strongest must have fallen in love with Sarafinah and died before Nala was born.
