    I prefer a manual as, to me, it's part of the driving experience rowing through the gears. It just adds to it. I don't care if someone else likes an automatic Mustang. It could be that they have physical issues that keep them from driving a manual, or it could be that their daily commutes involve them in a lot of stop and go traffic, where a manual becomes tedious. The only way it affects me, is that if I was looking at buying a Mustang and saw it was an automatic, I would no longer be interested in that vehicle.
    Automatic transmissions have come a long way, and have their place. Just not in my garage at this point.

    People need to drive what they like. Stop trying to justify their decision by ridiculing people that choose differently. I think for some stick drivers, it's a safety blanket. And for some automatics, it's because they don't know how to drive manual.
    I'm a tech geek. I wanted remote start. I wanted paddle shifters.
    But I also have a V6 so I get that grief too. Except with the in person Mustang crew I drive with. Very few 6s. Plenty of turbos and tons of 5.0s. No trash talk. We all just enjoy our rides however we choose to make them.

    I drive a 2013 mustang gtcs manual and I want to get a 2018 mustang gt 10 speed auto. My dad once told me that no one can shift faster then an automatic, I finally believe him ,thanks to the new 10 speed auto.

    I have an automatic 2015. There are times I wish I had a manual just for the fun of it, but most of the time am very happy with the auto. When I punch that sucker its already shifted before my brain would tell me to do it.

    I've got a manual transmission in my 5.0 because I find the experience of 3 pedals more engaging o drive. That said, I totally see the point of the automatic. From a pure acceleration standpoint, auto is just flat out faster. A fast shifting state of the art 10 speed from Ford/GM is compelling. If I was in the market again,, I'd totally test drive both transmissions and get a taste of the 10 speed. It's 2017 and the game is changing; I'm just old fashioned.

    If you complain about someone else owning an auto or a manual and it doesn't affect you then you are not a true car enthusiast. Appreciate all builds and all all transmissions even if you don't agree with them sometimes.

    I'll take an automatic transmission for certain cars but FOR ME, I've had so much more fun driving a manual GT than I've had with any other car. It shifts like butter from the factory, put some money in aftermarket mods and you've got a hell of a car. Rev matching, heel toe shifting and controlling the car at your will is too much fun. Great videos!! Love both the autos and the manuals just different preferences for everyone. Cheers!

    I'm a purist, I love my manuals. All three of my Mustang GTs were and are manual. When I was rolling
    imports (GTI and STi) they were manual. When I get my C7 Z06, I want the manual. I don't hate on the autos. The technology for automatics has made great leaps. Too bad the same hasn't hasn't happened for the manual transmission. The auto reflects the current era, and I get that. To each his own. I just hope that the manual still has a place in the future. The artistry of shifting, heel and toe, and rev matching, that's what its about for me. I appreciate the improvements of the new automatics, its amazing. I do remember when the manual was king though. Manual transmission for me still, its the art of driving at it's core. Keep up the great work on your videos.

    I have a manual 2015 Mustang GT. I love it. I have nothing against auto's. Especially a 10 speed. I would NOT want to shift my manual 10 times though lol. I'm an older guy and don't really race anymore. I just enjoy driving a manual way over an auto. I've been driving manuals since 1962 when I got my driver's license but have driven auto's since then as well. I have no doubt the manual will eventually disappear but it will be a sorry day to the auto industry. I hope I'm not around. They ARE more fun to drive IMHO of course. Have fun with your auto. I enjoyed your video. Didn't know the 10 speed was worked on by both manufacturer's....Interesting.

    i'm one of the die-hard manual fans for sure, but before i bought my 2015 gt, i test drove a 2016 gt with an automatic, and it was an amazing experience for sure! definitely a luxury item compared to the manual, to be able to get-up-and-go just by flooring it. exciting in a different kind of way - although my preference is the more involved driving experience.

    The automatic is the faster vehicle. That's what counts on the streets. That cannot be denied. I own a manual but 9/10 I'm gonna lose against a similarly equipped automatic car. Those are the facts.

    I went from a manual car to an automatic GT. I did my research and the 6R80's 1st gr is 4.10, even though it's a 3.15. If I just do a Torque converter I will definitely beat a manual every time with the same power. It did take a tune to help the shifting points.

    I'm still in the wantabe stage. I was hoping to buy my first Mustang this year but life simply got in the way so now I'm aiming for the first part of next year if things work out. I have always thought that the manual was the only way to go but I took a trip to visit family and friend back in March and rented a Mustang convertible. It was an automatic V6 and you know, I really enjoyed it. I've also read some things about the new 10 speed that makes me curious about it so now I'm starting to come off the "manual or nothing" mindset. At this point, I definitely want to test drive both. Then I'll be better able to make a decision.

    I've had both(manual and auto) always enjoyed the manual for the control and connection and of course the idea that replacing a clutch was way cheaper than rebuilding an auto. I have a automatic 2017 and I kinda wish it was 10 speed, 7 or 8 would be fine too. Just on the highway doing like 70 in 6th gear is still alittle high in the RPMs for me with my exhaust. But I'll deal with it cause I love the sound the rest of the time

    It's not about performance for a lot of people; it's about the driving experience and connectedness you get rowing your own gears. I just wish Ford would've put the 6060 in the S550, instead of the Gertrash

    I just love manuals because it is the last thing we as drivers that connect us to the road. Modern cars have become so watered down and dampened they are starting to feel artificial. That is a trend that I don't like. We are being disconnected from the driving experience. Now days people don't even want to drive, they just want to get from point A to point B, forget about enjoying the drive in between.

    I'm a learner driver and may not ever own a Mustang but this is my say: The first time I drove a car, it was my Sister's AU Ford Falcon, which is an automatic car and I found it boring as hell to drive, despite being quite a powerful car for a learner driver. The second car I drove was a Mazda 323 Astina with a 5-speed manual transmission and I found it extremely fun to drive despite having a fairly weak engine.
    I personally hate driving automatic cars and think they're boring to drive but I'm not going to shame someone for owning one. Like 16P51 says in the video, it's a personal preference and nothing more

  • @berninhodrmz1686
    @berninhodrmz1686 7 лет назад

    The reason more people are going to the automatic is because as time goes by less people learn how to drive manual.
    It all depends on what you want the car for as well.
    If you will be commuting in heavy traffic or want it for drag racing then obviously you should go for the auto.
    However, there are people like me that will stick with manual 100% even if we lose a race to someone with an auto. To me, it's about the driving experience and not really about numbers. Manual is a LOT more fun. Downshifting/healtoeing ...this is just cool to me. Of course we still want it to be quick and want more HP but to me I rather practice on improving my shifting than just have a computer done for me.
    I've driven a new ZL1 with the auto and it is great so I'm sure it will be similar but I prefer the manual.
    I currently own a 15GT 6spd track package.

    Definitely nothing wrong with opting for the 10 speed automatic, but personally, I would never buy an automatic Mustang. I feel like an auto transmission would take away from the driving experience of driving a sports/muscle car.

  • @JBWHITEGT
    @JBWHITEGT 7 лет назад +2

    I think that 10speed auto is going to outperform a manual so badly. Yeah it's fun and engaging to shift but if you have just one car or drive in city traffic it just makes sense to get a super fast shifting auto. I don't knock autos at all because most newer autos out shift a manual. Now for me I have a manual Challenger this time around and I raced an 8speed charger and I out shifted it but to do it time and time again I doubt I could. Then there's times I'm just tired and wish I had an automatic.

    I don't have a problem with a automatic transmission. But I have never owned a muscle car with one. I prefer a manual but if the automatic shifts like they say it will, I would consider it. My problem was always with V6 vs V8 for a mustang. Lol V8

Ended up taking home a grabber blue 2017 GT with a 6 speed manual. The ecoboost is WAY better with the automatic though, I can see why 90% choose it, really keeps that little motor in its power band.

    I have an automatic and love it I had a 13 mustang with the mt-82 and it had so many faults and aftermarket parts you had to add to make it enjoyable. I love being able to hop in my gt put it in d or s and not worry about it and in S mode it feels just as exhilarating as having a manual without the headache or added work. It's really to each his or her own how you spend your money on tour car is your choice like you said I don't care what you drive as long as your happy with it that's all that matters I mean you have to make your car payment not me so do what makes you happy

    A manual was the way to go with the Mustangs back in the day of the fox body. The aod trans was just horrible. I remember back then anyone who had a fox body with an auto got abused. But now with the 6r80 and now this 10 speed auto coming out, it's a whole new world. With the technology and tuning available you can beat the auto. No way you can shift an mt82 or tr6060 faster than a tuned 6r80. With the paddle shifters available now I feel the manual isn't worth it.

      16P51-GT I may be coming out of left field here being a Mopar guy. But I learned on a manual. But these new automatic s are amazing. I had an 08 r32 with the famous vw DSG dual clutch trans. I have a 17 charger rt with the 8spd trans and even though it's a torque converter style auto...a swear under WOT it shifts faster and firmer than the DSG did in my r32. ZF makes great transmissions. If that ford/chevy developed 10 spd shifts simular to the 8spd in my charger I don't think anyone will be disappointed. Hell my cousin drives a manual m3 and he's very critical of cars...he drove my charger and he kept ranting and raving about how quick and firm the 8spd trans was. Again....i know i know...i have a charger lol. But props to the mustang. I'm sure it will be very quick with the 10 spd. Later dude.

  • @hebeb394

    to answer your question bud, no autos will never get respect from auto trans. It's not a really a biased opinion either. the fact is, you will never have the fun factor of the manual in an auto nor the reliability. You won't have the connected feeling to the car either and the auto trans will always rob more horsepower over the manual. Sure, autos are great for drag racing but even then you can see two of the same cars at a strip running low times and the manual optioned car will have way more attention flock to it. It shows the amount of skill a driver has as well. If I was in the market for the new mustang and they didn't offer a manual option I'd buy one and sell the auto trans to someone after their's goes boom and then turn my attention towards tremec for the man pedal.

    autos have really took off over the last few years , I think the reason you are seeing more of the younger generation with autos is simply because they don't know how to drive a stick .last gt I had was a 97 , back then that was the way to go just like the years before , now fast forward to where we are now , you use to be able to get a stick in pretty much anything , now that the tech and epa have come down hard with MPG standards that they want met I can all most bet that manuels with be phased out in favor for the auto. , my wifes srt8 challenger was a auto and it was a blast to drive , here 2015 charger is also a auto with paddles 8 speed and moves out dam quick. only time will tell I know if it was me getting a 18 auto I think I would wait for the bugs to be worked out first.

    There is already a respect for the automatic even the 6r80 is a stout and proven transmission. The only people who still are dissing the automatics are people with a closed mind toward the auto, these people are operating on sheer emotional nostalgia for the manuals. Yeah they are fun but at the end of the day the auto with the paddles is fun too, just gotta grow up and realize not everyone likes what they like. There is choice now so deal with it people.

    Not being a fan boy or trying to start any fires but the transmission itself in both the f150 and camaro is called a "10R80" R is what makes it a ford transmission as in the previous auto transmissions wether it be an 6"R"80 etc as for chevy they use an L in their names. This just tells me that for chevy to let ford put their name in a transmission for their high horsepowered ZL1 then makes me think ford did most of the work engineering and designing it. I also love the ZL1 this is not a hate comment just informative.

    Is this a mustang thing or what? Chevy guys have preferred autos in a camaro or Vette for the longest. Its very rare to go the dragstrip and the fastest streetcar running is a manual. the way these new autos work is ridiculous. my goal is to take my 1993 blk /blk 5-speed LX-5.0 and swap it with a coyote and 6R80!

    I would buy an automatic because I'm not trying to win any races. If you want to build a race car and take it to the track and think a manual is better then that's awesome. I want a sports car that looks good, sounds good and has some horsepower behind it.

    Why is a 10 speed necessary? Both of my Mustangs are manual, but test drove a 2016 GT with an auto and liked the paddle shift option. I just don't see why one would need 10 gears.

    For the price range increased of a fully loaded GT Premium, it’s better to go after a 17 Shelby as those are going at msrp or below. I am not a fan of automatics in Mustangs no matter how fast they are. At least GT350s are only in manual, hope they keep it that way.

  • @goggy459
    @goggy459 7 лет назад

    I think you have 2 issues. One is faster shifting. The other is 10 speeds. Why 10? 10 speeds is not about performance. The best drag transmissions are 2 speed. Track cars don't need 10 speeds. I also think the 2018 computer control module will be difficult,
    especially if the New Mustang has the dread "start/stop" feature.
    Accept the Federal Government is driving all transportation innovation. That's why the nose dropped, ie pedestrian safety. That's why the 2020 will be a hybrid Mustang. My feeling is the 2017 is the last New/ Old school Mustang.

    The manual makes me one with the car. In addition to the 2015 Mustang with the manual I also have a 2011 Miata with an automatic. After test driving the Miata I thought I would be "OK" with the automatic... I AM NOT.
    The truth is, I had rather drive a 1982 Toyota Tercel with a manual than a 2018 Mustang with an automatic.

    Lolz....kinda a moot point to bring up a Bugatti in a Mustang conversation. sir, that's a DSG transmission. It's arguably not even an automatic as it has two driveshafts with odd gear sets. The Mustang auto is...well, just a regular automatic transmission. However, if Mustangs had a dual clutch tranny, I'd make the "auto" switch any day.

  • @DJDIGITAL1983

    Auto = no human error lol and if you have a super charged stang it's game over. I own a 16 GT auto and I've beaten a few manuals.

    Keeping in the rpms going through turns in a manual seem to help vs a auto which will drop to lower rpms through turns sense you cant control what gear your in.

  • @SARDOG

    I like how you say you don't care what people think and then ask for people's opinion... ummmmm... also, your header says "Automatics are the future!" Automatics have been around for decades, as I'm sure you must be familiar with that. I am SURE more cars coming out will have more and more automatic transmissions however, I can't believe the manual will die out any time soon. It used to NOT be the case where an auto could beat a manual but the technology is advancing so much now a quality auto will shift faster, and smoother, than the most competent shifter can. Used to be a 4 banger couldn't beat an 8 cylinder but times are changin. I prefer a manual even with my bum leg. For me it's part of the driving experience. My daughter has an auto and jumps at the chance to roll through the gears in my Mustang. You're in charge of the gears. You're in charge of making the thing go. You become part of the machine. An automatic is sterile. There's no "feedback"... no "soul" to the car. It becomes a tool of transportation and that's it. You become "brain dead" when you get in, start it up, and push the gas or the brake... get to your destination and get out. In a manual you're one with the car... a symbiotic relationship with the vehicle. You have to "do things", think about it, make decisions. I'd rather be a part of the car than just sit in it. That's my rant. Flame away.

    • @ALLCYLINDERSTV
      @ALLCYLINDERSTV  7 лет назад +1

      No flaming. But, what I said was that I don't care what people think of me owning an automatic. I always get hate but without any valid reason. So, yeah I'm interested in understanding why someone else would care about a car that they will never drive. If there's a valid reason, I'd love to hear it. And of course auto's have been around for a long time. My point is that the future of cars is shifting to auto's due to generational differences. The younger people entering the market place prefer auto's. That trend will continue. I mean Tesla has auto pilot already. So, while some people will always love manuals, the trend is shifting toward autos. And I understand how you feel about driving a manual. I know how to drive manual. But, thinking that driving an auto is any less fun for everyone else is a bit presumptuous. That's your opinion, it's not the opinion of everyone else.

    Automatic or Manual - Most importantly you drive a Mustang. I got a Manual because I did not like the auto transmission, but lets settle its personal preference

  • @aerok89

  • @1typer30a

    Lol. Don't compare Automatics with dual clutch transmissions found in supercars, two completely different things. If that were the case, I'd pick a mustang with a dual clutch transmission over stick.

    • @ALLCYLINDERSTV
      @ALLCYLINDERSTV  7 лет назад

      I think you missed the point I was making. I wasn't talking about the different types of automatic transmissions. Besides, most of the die hard manual owners don't care about the dual clutch transmission. They want their stick shifts.

  • @djmike4084
    @djmike4084 7 лет назад +1

    Haha 😂 50% can't drive a manual transmission that's why lol I had a automatic transmission 2015 mustang and once I made the switch to a manual transmission it's a whole different car. u feel more connected to the car due to you manually shifting . Automatic transmission will always be faster due to the reason that their is less user error and everything is done for u via the vehicles ecu...

    Well I like to view my manual 2011 as millennial theft deterrent. Non of my friends who are my age know how to drive a manual and thus can never borrow or drive my car. I am bias, my parents are boomers and driving a manual was a family requirement when you got your license. I would like to test a 10 speed but I figure it's pointless cuz I cannot afford one at this point and trading in my pony is out of the question.

    So outta the 50% how many actually know how to drive a manual? Lets be honest this generation doesn't grow up driving a manual they grow up driving automatics, I think those numbers are a little misleading.

      LOL damn you sound like an old ass moron

    • @ALLCYLINDERSTV
      @ALLCYLINDERSTV  7 лет назад +1

      The numbers aren't misleading. It's what is happening. Whether they know how to drive a stick or not is irrelevant because companies don't create the trends, they react to them. So, with more and more people preferring an auto (whether or not they know how to drive manual) companies are forced to meet the needs (i.e. focus on improving the automatics and marketing them more). But really, with electric cars being the future, it's not going to even be a debate in a few decades.

      16P51-GT I understand what ur saying, I'm 26 so I came from a generation where manual was the thing. I'm not a die hard manual driver but todays youth and drivers wanna mutilple task and drive you can't do that with a manual. The reason autos r trending is bcuz most pple today dont know how to drive a manual. And noone wants to take the time to teach.

    Ford had a lack team work between the
    Ford dealerships and Ford to fix issues that arise while the car is
    under the warranty...Its a nightmare and if the dealers diagnostic
    equipment cannot find the problem i.e. exhaust leaks or any other
    intermediate issue that will eventually lead to a major issue....they
    will tell you to your face "There is nothing wrong with your car and
    that sound your hear is the way it's suppose to sound" and Ford
    corporate customer service is useless. Ford has failed its
    customer..........

      Every car company has this story, I've been buying Mustang's since 1984, back then the 5spd's were made out of glass they broke so easily. In 1985 the GT had a 7.5" rear, complete crap. Ever since then the 8.8 had been in use and it was a ton better, the 5spd was still crap until 2005 and ever since they have been much better. The current car is a better car in every single way and be glad they no longer have the 12/12,000 mile warranty, those were the dark days of car ownership. Now Ford gives you a line-lock for shit sakes. You need to get better at holding the dealer accountable for their work, if they give you weaksauce this is how it is, you take it to the next level, bending over does nothing.
