People complain about the production on this song, but it enhances the point he wanted to get across. It's not meant to be bumped, it's meant to be observed. In the first half of the song Em conveys the behavior of rebellious white cops through Rock music, delivering it in an uncomfortable way as a reminder of this uncomfortable conversation. Then in the second half Em uses a "boom bap" Hip-Hop beat to convey the perspective of the black people who are rebellious due to the unfair circumstances they were born into. I am not much of an Eminem "fan" (I appreciate that he's a great lyricist and rapper, but I don't really consider myself a fan of anyone regardless of genre), so there's a good chance that my two questions are stupid, but having watched quite a few reaction videos to Untouchable so far, I am left with two questions that I haven't seen answered. The music to it is apparently quite different than his usual style, according to some of the reaction videos, and I feel like the style might be a lot closer to what I imagine rap rock (is that what it's called?) sounds like, which makes me think this is a conscious choice - it's a song that needs to be heard by "rednecks" (the stereotype that I imagine are the primary audience of rap rock). Does this make sense to anyone else? The lyrics are also extremely easy to understand; there doesn't seem to be many, if any, double entendres or hidden meanings, which again is something I imagine is a quality of rap rock because of the audience. Does this make sense to anyone else? I know that I'm stereotyping like wild in these speculations, but that is why I'm asking - I like to quash the stereotypes that I have, so please feel free to correct me on them.
People slept on it and had a mind set to hate on it instead of listening with an open ear an mind. The fact people hate on the album to this very day says alot about the listeners meaning they don't care for lyrics anymore, they just want a hype beat an autotune. It's sad...
Bruh black lives matter is very simple, not hard to understand man!!!! BLM is just saying that WHITE police officers need to stop killing BLACK people when there’s no reason to kill them. You see how simple that was, it was so fucking easy to understand man.
@tiger I served 20 years in the US Army and now I am a business owner, so I am the furthest thing from a communist. And while I don't view BLM as a communist movement, so what if it were? If communists believe that cops shouldn't kill minorities for no reason while capitalists are the ones looking the other way, well, then on THIS issue the communists would be the ones on the right side of history. And I probably just put too much effort into responding to someone who is almost certainly a troll.

Joe budden downplayed this song and its message and called it Eminem's worse song ever. He later in the "Trader Joe" clip from earlier this year admitted the song is "surface stuff" and he really hates Eminem's manager. So he downplayed the message against cops shooting blacks to promote his own personal issues.

The reason why people didn't like Revival is because the production is really bad, even in this song, the lyrics are great, the message is great, but as a song overall, it's not very good. And I like Revival, I just don't like when people pretend that there's no reason for people to dislike the album.
Not liking Revival has nothing to do with not seeing it's content. The content is amazing and it's probably his most emotional project ever. Every song has a meaning. But unfortunately, that is not enough to carry a song. This one is the perfect example - powerful message, but as a song completely unlistenable. It sounds like he threw 5 different songs in a blender and then wrote the flow without listening to the beat.
I'll never know what it's like to be black, I can only hold myself accountable to be good to everyone. I'm sorry you have to live in this fear. Thank you for the breakdowns.

@NoNoNoNii Feel worse to me. Rodney King was 91. And at least people were polite enough to act shocked, to censure the police, to pretend like it wasn't ok to beat a man damn near to death. Nowadays, people defend it, blame the victim, pretend like this the acceptable way for authority to act. Three decades, and we can't even get people to agree - "Hey, maybe we shouldn't kill motherfuckers on routine arrests or just being in the vicinity of a crime. Maybe being the authority figure comes with responsibility and accountability and expectations." Don't know how old you are, but those of us pushing 4-5 decades have been watching this same show play out. Again. And again. And again. It's hard not to be jaded about it. Cynical. This stuff should be simple. We know what works - there have been a lot of great, in-depth approaches by various police precincts and communities throughout the years that have worked, that have shown that we can heal these gaps between the communities and police and make real progress. We just don't do it. We don't hold people accountable. And everyone has to be accountable for democracy to work. Freedom ain't free.

Em asked us “Do you still believe?” And warned us saying, “I’ll never forget if you turn your back on me now and walk out I will never let you live it down”. Well the ones who counted him out for Revival are coming back.
Believe is one of his best songs ever imo. When you have been on a lifelong journey with someone, you feel like you know them personally. That song really meant something to me because it's almost like I'm right there with him on the journey. Doubting himself at times, asking why you would doubt him after you have "believed" in him so long. Classic. Even the motivational speech parts, "or you gone use the cards you're dealt as an excuse not to do shit with 'em." I am completely baffled as how ANYONE can say he isnt one of the greats, it's just lies and hating lol.
Cory Lyons Music Agreed. Believe is in my top 3 Eminem songs all time. So motivational and powerful. That line you quoted is one of my favorites from the song, as well as “put your temper to more use cause being broke’s a poor excuse, that should only give you more fuel, show em why you’re you” Just shows the times we are living in that people call that song trash

I felt it was ahead of its time, and it came from the heart. He's living proof that the pin is stronger than the sword, he's the only man in the world DONALD TRUMP will not tweet back or respond to. EMINEM RAPS WHAT HE BELIEVES IN AND IS PASSIONATE ABOUT IT BUT WILLING TO WRITE ABOUT IT TO HELP THOSE IN THE WORLD WHOM MAY RELATE. RECOVERY HELPS SO MANY ADDICTS TILL THIS DAY. HE STANDS FOR WHAT AMERICA IS SUPPOSED TO BE, equality(made it in a prodometamly black industry) freedom (to believe in his own beliefs and follow his dreams. Though not a soldier hes faught for this country lyrically! He grew up in and around neighbourhoods that were predominantly black, the majority of his closest friends are black men too, which is why I think the way he breaks everything down on this track hits very hard. From the history to current events, and I think the lyric video makes the words even more powerful too. He recently did a "skit" on Royce da 5'9's new album "The Allegory" and it's called "Perspective" in which he talks about racism and his view on it once again. "Untouchable" remains one of my favourite songs from him because he truly used his platform the way a white person should, the way a white person with a massive influence over white people should. He lost a lot of fans for it but it hasn't stopped him speaking out.
Perfect example of why Emenim is @2pac status for me. I've been a Stan since before Stan. The man articulates how so many of us feel but can't find the words.

Sometimes I wonder if em keeps up with battle rap. If he does, I think it means he definitely recycles some of their bars. Soul khan used the “oldest trick in the book” bar on somebody a year before em used it on wicked ways and I always wondered. Hopefully it’s not the case. I mean for how much stuff he thinks up it’s not crazy to think it overlaps with used bars sometimes.

Not everyone. I’m ride or die Em. Have been since his first album dropped. I still remember all the side eyed looks I would get when I said he was one of the best. I don’t knock other people’s views or opinions but we all have voices, this is how he chooses to use his, and I thank him for it.
MsRefined1 I’m just saying, a majority of black people who listen to music right now are inclined to call Eminem corny because he’s white and old. But yet here he is using his platform to help bring attention to it and all of the sudden Eminem is cool

Joe Budden said this was ‘the worst song he’s ever heard’ For someone like Eminem who is a huge superstar and for him to rap and release this song is HUGE! I can not believe how many people have slept on this song. This should be trending number 1!
This song is not meant to have you "sing along". It is served up in such a way that it gives you no choice but to concentrate, listen harder. It forces you to acknowledge its substance.
Stevie bro, you still have a lot of Eminem gems to discover. Em also always had messages like this in his music, like in ''White America''. But this track probably went even further.
Stevie you a natural leader. Keep voicing your voice I love it, we need change. As a Mexican who grew up in a majority black schools, I love my brothers and sisters. Us minorities have to stick together and fight the oppression they got us on ✊🙏

I liked this album, I think this showed Ems growth, content in this album was more potent than all others put together. Ems skill was always able to tell a story. Love your channel brah. Respect for Down Under (Australia) 🤙🤙🤙
EM grew up and hung around black people all his life, he even said black people saved his life, trust me when em understands some of the struggles your people go through, this is why he has no issue standing up and using his voice and platform to show nothing but love and support for the african american community
I bought this album when it came out and remember listening to this track and not being able to move or think about anything else for ages... literally stunned into silence. Love these reactions Stevie! Keep 'em coming. Appreciation from the UK.
I think we all forget although he maybe white. Eminem grew up with this, his best friend was killed by this type of violence. But he’s been effected and seen this in real life. So a lot of what he said was from experience and his friends experience.
He also knows how racism feels black people hated on him bad because he was white and they still do. EMINEM is the greatest and black people are racist against him cause he's white. So racism runs both ways.
@Peter Hernandez yes of course I never meant all. But Eminem has lived a hard life we all can relate to no matter what color we are, no matter what our financial status is. Eminem has been through a extremely hard life which I believe is why he's so famous he's very relatable.
This is the song that started the beef with him and Budden. Joe tore him down for this and this is the exact thing he’s talking about when he’s talking about people reacting to his shit sharing opinions when it went over their head.
I dunno why I always loved this song. Doesn't relate to me in anyway shape or form as a white man living in the UK. Just the way it's put across really makes me feel like I can have an understanding of how it is. Really made me feel some kinda way watching Stevie's reaction and speechlessness.
I am lost for word for EM...The greatest ever and HE speaks for us all...THIS WAS HARD MAN...HARD....He always stood for all and what happening now...is nothing humane at all..
Imagine having to give your kids a talk that they're going to be treated different and people are going to always assume the worst about you because of what you look like. That's heartbreaking.

Eminem came from nothing. His understanding about the real racism that has always existed in this country and to stay true to himself and his roots, even after his huge success, speaks volumes about the man.
You're right it does hit different. The whole Revival album is woke which is why it got bad reviews. It would be worth reviewing songs on that album.

“Believe” may be one of his top 10 songs he’s ever done

This song is so underrated the ones that didn’t like revival didn’t see that Em speak truth his life story is so inspiring
It sounds like he threw 5 different songs in a blender and then wrote the flow without listening to the beat.
exactly this beat is just trash for me
He basically cannot flow at all on 95% of the album, and the production is awful

NoNoNoNii I said decades. Not centuries. Check yourself. It HAS been decades (in case you are unaware 1 decade= 10 years).
NoNoNoNii instead of being an asshole why don’t u try and talk and reason? The way you’re acting is part of the problem. There can be no discussion bc you don’t want to reason.
Maybe being the authority figure comes with responsibility and accountability and expectations."
Don't know how old you are, but those of us pushing 4-5 decades have been watching this same show play out. Again. And again.

And warned us saying,
“I’ll never forget if you turn your back on me now and walk out I will never let you live it down”.

Stevie: Why did I never heard of this song before?
Because Revival is over hated.... And according to Joe Budden it is trash and doesn't say anything.. Imagine being black, listening to this and hating on this...Joe can relate
I will NEVER understand that with Joe and the hip hop media in general. They go on and on and on...about Em's white fans, then acted like he was pandering by making Untouchable for their approval. He made this song to Educate Everyone Else.
We must remember some people are only focused on ‘money, cars, hoes’....that’s it. They will forever be lost. All you can do is step over them and keep it moving.

I mean for how much stuff he thinks up it’s not crazy to think it overlaps with used bars sometimes.

This song is not meant to have you "sing along". It is served up in such a way that it gives you no choice but to concentrate, listen harder. It forces you to acknowledge its substance.

Yup. Definitely a state of mind. Only the open minded, awoke and aware, that are able to acknowledge and accept how important it is to know the value of our differences is. Our differences is supposed to be a support and not to compete who’s better or stronger. It’s our morals and ethics. Change starts within and that is a lesson for every parents and parents to be. Because they are the role model, the father, the mother, the teacher and guidance for the next generation.
I don’t get how people could’ve hated on this song. People don’t enjoy a chorus and ignore the whole entire message of a song. This shits crazy and I’m so happy you make these videos. It’s a nice little escape from the hell in the world.
Ita an attention span problem. Same reason apps like tiktok, Facebook, any social media app basically. We want info and content and we want it fast. If the chorus doesn't catch our ears then we'll refuse to listen to the rest.
Love you Stevie, real shit. Love all you guys. We all need to stick together. We're squabbling at ground zero, being divided while the rich sit in their high castles.
100% facts🎯🎯🎯
Hey Bro, speaking your mind and us hearing your perspective is cathartic for a lot of us. A lot of us are in pain and frustrated right now. Don’t apologize for venting. We all need it. Appreciate you and your content bud! Stay safe! ✌️💯💯💯
This song is from Revival the album people said was trash.
When this album, came out people weren’t ready for it.
I hope "everyone" takes the time to listen and appreciate the amazing body of work.
I've been a hip hop head since The Fat Boys and Run DMC. I'm a caucasian man and 44 years old. Grew up poor. I feel the same way Em does Stevie. I love your input on music. Please keep up the great work.
43 and white. Feel the same way. I appreciate the culture. I love the culture. I respect the culture. I am down and always will be. Let’s just take a moment to say thanks to the Game. It got me through tough times. I am forever grateful to the pioneers of Hip-Hop, and THE ones who raise it on high. Marshall is the best ambassador for this culture. IDGAF what skin color he has. It’s about what’s in your heart and soul. God bless Stevie, and ALL of you guys who love the game. Regardless of skin shade. Let’s rally, and bring this genre back to where it should be. Love all y’all. 🔥🙌🔥
Bro, Revival was legit legendary.
Revival was so slept on! So glad you did this one. Hits hard Love the content Stevie! 💯✌️
This album will be re rated as one of the best in a few years to come .
Pretty much same thing said on 'Careful What You Wish For'. No one appreciates his albums until time has passed and they get revisited.
@Bellickeysright relapse was dope the accent kinda killed it a bit but the bars was on point .encore was kinda weak tho lol
Revival is so slept on. We appreciate you doing these reactions. Much luv✌🏾
Yo this is why I love eminem
This is from Revival. Im glad you reacted to this song.
Untouchables by Eminem is the perfect reaction during these times
Check out Eminem - perspective, from Royce recent album, good talking
This song always brings a tear in my eyes near the end of it. It's refreshing knowing how many people he may have influenced who needed influenced. We need Eminem, his lyrics are almost magical, and we need as much of that magic as possible...
The fact that you could still communicate your feelings so well after watching the video is amazing, because we know you had so much going through your mind.
Racism IS stupid. I'm glad you reacted to this, because I've never heard/seen it, either.
Yeah he had me speechless to and he was spot on. This also coming from an album that supposedly wasn’t so good but in a few years that album will be called great.
Yep. It'll be the next Relapse, ppl just weren't ready to hear him
Relapse had A+ production and flows. Revival is awful in both categories mostly. People couldn’t get over the accents on relapse
Gonna say, this made me proud of Em.
I’m so glad you reacted to this song. It’s absolutely the most timely and powerful song I can think of for you to listen to right now.. You HAVE to listen to Like Hime on the same album.
This is one of the ones Trader Joe was picking on.. All they do is hear the hook and say it wack. This whole album was 🔥 I love it when Em gets in his bag and sends a message through songs.
1st time I've seen you let the whole song ride out and you were just in deep lyrical thought. Shit was dope!
One thing I noticed is that you said "nothing I can do will actually make a difference" and that is the wrong way to think. You might have a small following compared to rappers/actors n shit, but you do have a following. And if you can reach even 1 person, you've made a difference!
WHEN ALL IS SAID AND DONE, CHANGE WILL HAPPEN!
True
To say he is a guest in the house of hip hop but yet this song represents his respect for the culture he's the best to touch the microphone!!!!
Imagine being the 4 dislikes? I get chills every time I hear those last like 10 bars. Amazing! Great stuff as always, I enjoy hearing your perspective, keep it up Stevie...
Bro the revival album was so slept on, I'm on gonna lie I didn't odee like it the way em usually sounds like his other albums but this album woke me up. Millions of people heavily slept on revival #staywoke
Eminem came from nothing. His understanding about the real racism that has always existed in this country and to stay true to himself and his roots, even after his huge success, speaks volumes about the man. He's never forgot where he came from and I believe he still uses that to continue to write and use his platform to speak truth. To see that fire still burning in him is so encouraging. Just another reason why he's the goat!!
Agreed!
Only artist who doesn’t just speak up when it’s popular to talk about it
Em is soo ahead of his own time #rapgod #goat
