Introducing to the Microtech Family: The Zero Blade Play Atreus

- The name Atreus means “fearless” in Greek and was the perfect choice for this zero blade play knife. There will be two configurations offered, double and single edge. We’re utilizing a 7000 series aluminum chassis as well as a 30k carbon fiber inlay. Along with these features, there is also a BAL-4V titanium inlay and a titanium pocket clip. We added a brand-new texture to the side of the chassis for grip when handling this knife.
Overall Length: 9.5’’
Blade Length: 4’’
Handle Length: 5 3/8’’
Width: 1 ¼’’
Beautiful! Who is doing the first side by side with the Deadlock?
My money is on metal complex
Someone with a lot of money to set on fire lmao
It’s just paper, that’s why it burns
Metal Complex for sure, but I still think Advanced Knife Bro would be awesome
@WeakestSunshotEnjoyer Some people have so much money it ain't even funny.
Just got to handle an Atreus at Blade Show Texas. EXTRAORDINARY! The "zero blade play" claim is completely legit. Cannot wait to get my own after they hit the market. Congratulations on your achievement, Microtech!
It's not full tang.
@@SoghomonTehlerian1915 Well, of course, that would be impossible. If you have room to carry a fixed blade, you carry a fixed blade. An OTF automatic is supposed to be an alternative to a folding pocket knife. The question is whether the Atreus can match the solidity of a quality folder, and it seems to achieve that.
Don’t care about the blade show. When is it going to be available?
😆
I couldn't wait for Glykon release...
Then i saw price.
My heart sank.😐
Sold out regardless.
I am a humble factory worker.
Please make some cheaper options.😐
Everything is going up in price.
I can barely afford groceries now.😐
I could have saved $700 for a Glykon , but $1500+?
Please make things more affordable for the working class.
Nice you should make a full titanium chassis
You say “Atreus,” I say “BOY.”
Lmfao, this looks sick. Kratos would approve.
Congrats on the awesome achievement!
I liked the part where they showed us the knife not moving
Thank you ❤
cant really show that on camera unless it's severe, most blade play in OTFs are minimal to the point where it can only be felt
Disassembly video please! Thanks for showing it.
I really like that they’ve decided to go just a tad larger blade.
Beautiful!! I'll take two
Hello Ray! Still waiting patiently, any updates on when we can actually purchase? We appreciate any updates.
Very cool stuff but it has all the makings of being a collector's priced pocket jewelry knife and not something to be used, which really defeats the entire purpose of getting rid of blade play. Hopefully it's a trickle down technology that makes it's way to other models. Until then I'll stick with my Scarab II.
The x ring is awesome
Huge Microtech fan. I have tons of them. However, this design is hideous and has design cues borrowing from the original no-blade-play OTF, the Deadlock.
Also THANK YOU for going to 4 inch blades !!!!!! Hate small knives . Its sad it took a OTF company to bring back large blades when the OTF style blade is usually smaller
About fukn time, too! The price you charge for your toys, they should've ALL had zero blade play from day 1.
Ridiculous pricing next on the chopping block? The higher end Chinese copies have better QC than the real thing, these days, ffs. At a third of the price!
In short, fix your shit! Become a REAL knife company! Or, forever stay in the realm of overpriced pocket gadgets for overgrown little boys. Your choice.
Looks amazing . Let’s just hope it’s not the same price as the deadlock
Ive been waiting for yall to drop one without blade play. Have a buddy that had a few and that issue was the main reason why I never did. That and the blade isn’t centered. For $300+ I have a long list of must haves before I drop the coin.
This Atreus is going to be 1500-2000. Tony is copying the deadlock zero play, so he’s going to charge what deadlock charges.
@@adenbobby oh, then never fking mind I’m good. If I was dropping that coin its on a rifle.
@@adenbobby
The Deadlock is a full custom OTF made in extremely small batches from a small company. Don't forget it's also milled out of titanium. The Atreus is out of aluminum. Microtech is the largest OTF maker in the U.S. and has the tooling, machining, and ability to keep costs down. Microtech should aim for a sub $1k price to make it really competitive. Perhaps the process to machine/build a zero play OTF isn't possible to keep costs low, so maybe it will be over $1k.
$2k seems a little high, even for Microtech as far as their basic production models go. I don't count the Marfione customs since their production models are exactly the same unless you want a crazy finish or exotic inlay. I'd assume the Atreus will be part of their production line up so I don't expect a crazy price, but I also don't expect it to not be cheap either.
@@adenbobbysomeone said it’s gonna be over 1k and MC said “ye of little faith”
Give me a week of use and that blade will have play, happened to my Hawk Deadlock within a months use
I have the model B and model C deadlock, carried the B for years until the C came out, and have carried the C since the C came out. I have the aluminum model C from the very first drop. Carried every day. Zero issues. Plus with the lifetime warranty, if you do have any issues, they will fix it. I’m calling bs on your claim here.
Send it back for Hawk to fix. They will at no expense to you.
damn, microtech at it again!
SOG pulled this off years ago with the Pentagon OTF. Better late than never.
Is there any way to get one of these works of art, in the loadout/style you want, or do you just have to constantly keep an eye on the inventory of every store online to find one close to what you want?
i.e.picking the color of the body, blade type, blade finish, weathering. Every time I've tried to look for a Microtech blade each one only has one or two features, not all of them and it's disheartening to come up empty handed so often.
Ah man, I love my Troodons and the new Hera II, but this thing looks awesome. I hope production is enough to meet demand cause anyone who likes autos is gonna want one of these
That looks like a $700 knife
I need y'all to help us get these approved in California! The sub 2" OTF knives aren't "cutting it"...
You guys are KILLING IT. #1 maker in the knife industry right now!
how much????
It's not full tang it's already broken.
Full tang for life!!
I hate inlays and I hate wide jimping so this is pretty unappealing to me design wise. I hope we get a normal version soon after the first wave of these. Good job microtech for solving the blade play problem though!
Yea, not sure what those inlays will accomplish other than adding cost and wearing out pockets. I'm also not a fan of the ball pocket clip they keep using lately.
Curious what the price point will be on these.
240
I can’t seem to find a price on this knife anywhere come on people keep us informed
Hello Ray. Any updates on the Atreus? I keep checking daily, to see if it's available for sale. I'm trying to score one for my Son's upcoming 21st birthday. You sure could make my day by saying "You know Paul, since you've been waiting patiently & a supporter, I'm going to make sure Microtech sets one aside for you & we get you handled." I appreciate any updates.
That titanium blade inlay will cause issues down the line. Come back to this comment in a few years.
I've been waiting patiently and checking Blade HQ daily. So far, no one seems to know when it will be for sale. I emailed the Microtech sales email, inquiring, no one even responded. At this point, I'm like..."Don't market it, till you're stocked, and about ready to release." Maybe I'm wrong, but I would imagine people have been holding off on other Microtech blades, waiting to see what the price point is on the Atreus. I'm waiting....
This is why Microtech will remain the best knife & best custom knife manufacturer on the Planet. I can't wait to handle this beautiful new release. Texas Blade Show to buy a Microtech is on my bucket list for sure.
Until you realize how trash their QC is lol.
@@bladeswatches2011 Dirac delta, 2 makoras, an ultratech II, CT and a cypher II
Both makoras had blemishes on the scales. Diracs deployment failed out of the box and at least every other deploy. The CT’s grind was off. The cyphers blade was ground down so uneven on one side that I reached out to customer service and asked them that grind fell within their tolerances and they told me it did. If a blade that looks crookedly ground from 2 feet away, your QC and your tolerances are garbage.
@@bladeswatches201so, I’m not allowed an opinion? Only RUclipsrs are allowed opinions?
Haters! 😂
@@bladeswatches201the dude has had more microtechs recently than you and more models to sample at that. Honestly I expect no less of a cope response from someone with the company’s logo as their profile picture.
you know if anything is reasonably priced p it's the first thing they say.
Not even mentioning a price range basically says, guys bend over and grab your ankles
Anyone else hate cf knives especially inlays? More cost zero texture? And that damn ridiculously over aggressive x on the button?
Are the patents already published? These will be extremely interesting to read!
Wanted this one 10 years ago before I spent thousands on the wiggly MT out the front variety... 😅
pls made more S/E ....TY
Best marketing in the business. Give your editor a raise!
Mega Cool Microtech OTF Greetings Pirmin
YAWN....6 months gone by and nothing on tje market.
Ugly block design. Definitely not as nice as a g&g deadlock in every category.
If it's cheaper than the Deadlock, I'll buy one.
Get the deadlock bud, you'll be disappointed with this
@@wesmcdaniel4118
Ha! We know your tricks. You just want one for yourself because you know it will sell out in seconds the moment the Atreus is released.
@@wesmcdaniel4118 triggered?
And God of War told me it was pronounced uh-tray-us lol
When is it available
Should have been called the livelock.....
Price range?
Be available and reasonably priced please.
Hello will there be a Serrated version and how much will it cost? Any idea when it'll hit retailers?
damnnn I need it
A solution looking for a problem
I'm interested if it's under 1000.
Heeeeyyy Microtech.... im kinda dying for the new Combat Troodon in a HELLHOUND BLADE with Ni-Bor internals! I was too poor when they came out in the past but im rockin and rollin now... SO LETS SEE EM!
@Microtech Knives Guys, love you knives (I have 5 of them), but PLEASE IMPROVE tolerance on the "blood groove", which is usually NOT perfectly aligned in the middle of the blade. It's a chip on MT's perfection. Thank you!🙏
Holly shit. I need one.
So you didn’t use my name suggestions just so you didn’t have to send me one I see…..not cool.
Really cool to see hollow grind on your OTFs and nice sharpening choil!! Cutting longevity and performance is the heart of a knife :) Beautiful, continue like this please! And make a smaller one :)
Hey to Tony and the microtech family I've been a huge fan since the late 90s ,recently I've been able to get a gen 3 CT and just got my first amphibian! I'm definitely getting this! Please I really want and seems extremely hard to get the Halo any Halo single action, my dad had one in the late 90s and end up selling it. After my father passed I found myself doing things that we both loved and enjoy I join the microtech family 4 years ago when my cousin bought me my first Ultratech beast of a knife still edc it (which I need a re sharpen) dlc black on black de full serrations. Since then I purchased another Ultratech , 2 jedi knight exocets , Gen 3 CT which I'm in love with and now Amphibian .
Long story short Tony if you or any of the company sees this I will love a Halo !
And to everyone else who reads this and made it this far your a awesome don't forget that .
When will these be available?
TI in the middle of the blade??? hmm... Also, single edge being a Tanto *wink wink* LOL
Yeeeeaah ! I'm still asking for a Zero blade play dual fuel action tactical combat troodon 😍
Anthony Marfione made swords for the gods! Lol guy is truly amazing
When can we expect some more 1135-10APOD’s to be released?
Definitely getting this knife. Would like to see a Damascus all black as well
Yes! Can't wait for this technology to appear in other models .
This is why Microtech keeps taking my hard earned cash!
Right after I buy a Dirac a zero blade play releases!
Mostly Absolutely Fabulous,Mostly.
The Atreus and the HawkKnives DeadLock are both deficient in one easily rectified facet...SERRATIONS. that said, CONGRATULATIONS on breaking the Zero Blade Play barrier.
I see where Microtech got their inspiration from they must have really been taken aback that HawkKnives got the John Wick 4 contract. Good on Y'all for practicing fair market competition.
Wonder if they addressed their blade bounce issue🤔
Great there’s another grand I’m spending now.
I can't wait to buy the chinese clone of this in 4 months!
No mater what you do with it eh... that's a bold statement.
Zero blade play ultratech is my next purchase
How is there zero blade play? Curious
😎cool
Boy.
Wonder how the mech compares to the deadlock.
Atreus ? Like "BOY" ? :D
wow 5oz seems incredibly heavy
1/4” thick 🤔 I hope that’s a typo 😬
its 1/2 you are correct
Howdy n see y’all in Fort Worth! Saddle up!
nice. i'd like one with 4.5 inch blade.
Love the glass breaker and wish it were on my Glykon like all of my other Microtech’s!
How much is this sucker? 400+?
No. Atreus doesn't mean “fearless” in Greek. Atreus was a Greek mythology King. Atromitos means “fearless” in Greek. Very big mistake.
I was waiting to see who else would notice this 😅 too bad they don’t look at comments
How much will the first two variants start at?
“There’s no blade play. None whatsoever. No matter what you do.”
*does not touch the blade to demonstrate once*💀
Blade play, unless it’s really bad, isn’t really something you can show on camera anyway
When it comes to Microtech, you can see blade play in a video
God that is perfect, I might go to my first blade show just for this.
Hopefully I can get my hands on one.
You guys are really gunning for my entire knife budget this year lmao.
Hawk Knives is better, don't waste your money
@@wesmcdaniel4118 they also cost at least 5x more than an Ultratech. If this thing is in the $300-400 range it's gonna be tempting for many people.
@@wesmcdaniel4118
Microtech OTFs are good for the price you pay so I don't know what you're on about. The Hawk Deadlock costs as much as 6-7 basic Ultratechs. It's in a league all its own. You say not to waste your money, yet to get a Deadlock, you'll have to "waste" over 2 grand for a Model C. This isn't even mentioning the extremely small batches Hawk Knives makes of the Deadlock, which makes it even harder to obtain.
Both the very high price and scarcity keep a lot of people from getting one even if they are better than a Microtech. If this new Atreus is like 90% of a Deadlock, it will sell very well, and it will be sold for a fraction of the cost of a Deadlock. My guess is this will be priced similar to their Glykon and that will be amazing.
@@wesmcdaniel4118you can never, ever get one. And they go for like 3-5k no body is spending money like that for a user and Stop acting like you know how this knife is when it hasn’t even been released yet.
@@wesmcdaniel4118 a 3000 dollar knive vs a 400 dollar knive someone would actually use. bad take
Give me a mini.... take my money.
Need that in single edge blade
My wallet already hurts😢
Where do you even buy this? Can't find any results online
It’s a prototype you can’t buy it yet
Will there be a version with cheaper materials/finishes at a cheaper price point? Would like this zero play mechanic on a price point similar to the standard Ultratech.
The BOY otf
Just take my money now.
Super cool, cant wait to see one in person!
