Sir as a Ford Fan, i can tell you not to worry it happens some times in diesel engines, -7C is EXTREME WEATHER FOR CITY DRIVING CAR. it can happen to anyone else also even if it is my Ford, nothing to do with the technology of Tata. Generally Diesel engines have this problem but it can be mitigated by following, 1) Proper engine check and service BEFORE TRIP 2) Clean or Replace Air Filters 3) USE Appropriate SYNTHETIC Engine Oil for extreme cold conditions to help deliver quick starts and fast lubrication for temperatures below normal 0W/20 ExxonMobil ENGINE OIL in Nexon BS6 Diesel & 5W/30 in Nexon BS4. Engine oil rarely solidifies when the temperature drops. This severely impairs the oil’s ability to flow when you start your engine. In some cases, the oil can thicken so much that it prevents the crankshaft from spinning fast enough to even start the engine. Gravity causes much of the oil to fall back into the oil sump, leaving components unprotected. Cold oil doesn’t flow immediately at startup, temporarily starving the engine of oil. Oil thickens more in sub-zero winter weather and causes increased starting difficulty, an engine is considered “cold” after it’s sat long enough to cool to ambient temperature, typically overnight. The oil inside your engine cools as it sits overnight. As it cools, its viscosity increases (it thickens). When it’s time to start your vehicle in the morning, the thicker oil doesn’t flow through the engine as readily as it does when it’s at operating temperature. It’s during this time that vital engine parts can operate without lubrication, increasing wear. 4) Check Battery condition also sometimes it may happen due to fluctuations in current due to extreme weather conditions. 5) Fill Good Fuel or add some diesel additives that helps diesel not to freeze and keeps fuel lines clean.

The Glow Plug is automatic timer based (instead of temp sensor or thermostat based) in Nexon, so instead of once if you repeat it for 3 times, the engine is nicely preheated by the glow plug and this problem is avoided. Also, the engine oil put into EcoSport is probably better suited to this temp. Otherwise Nexon Diesel does not has any startup problems in comparison to others. With my 3 years of experience from cold winters of Sikkim (5000 ft + alt.), never faced any such issues. But mine is manual. You are right, may be EcoSport AMT would also have a similar issue. Plus, stuff in a cloth in exhaust pipe immediately after engine sw. off.
In cold region four heater plugs should be in a perfect condition. That means each plug should consume 20 amp current while glowing. If not that means it is weak or towards the death situation. Alternater belt, alternater should be perfect position and the battery also.
@@rhimanshu6288 are na bhai engine alag hai aur ho sakta hai ki ecosport main koi aur engine oil ho. Main hai ki nexon ka engine heat nahi ho raha tha aur combustion nahi ho pa raha tha jiska reason low oxygen and low temperature hai
You are giving a short cranking and expecting it to start. The EcoSport was a push-button start so the ECU started the car in correct way. If you start by keeping it cranking for long, it would have started. Also repeated short cranking can cause wearing of flywheel and starter motor gears.
All diesel car owners may please note the suggestions made in the comment section by Mr Abhijit Sarkar and Mr Pushpak. Being a diesel car owner, I use repeated heating ( glow plug cycles) before cranking. From the difficulty faced in starting and the initial smoke, one of the reasons could be that the engine heating plugs are either deteriorated or some heating plugs are dead.
Four Heater plugs takes total 80 amp current for heating . And it takes about 8-10 seconds after that the self get the full current. If any of your plug is weak or dead then starting problems arise.

This reminds of me of the interceptor high altitude stopping situation faced by bulu bhai..later which was acknowledged and addressed by royal Enfield.. hopefully tata does the same too.. kudos to bulu bhai for bringing such facts infront of everyone so we don't have to face it.
You should turn off the Ignition completely and then turn on immediately and do this 3 times and at the 4th time crank the engine. Do not just crank the engine at first attempt. Make sure you turn off the ignition completely then turn on immediately and do this 3 times until it starts . Nexon did not fail you did not know the trick. Also keep cranking until the engine starts . Engine was trying to start you would leave the cranking, that is not correct. Keep cranking until it starts completely. No need to be disappointed
Exactly , they do not know about heating coil in engines, 5 to 6 times we have to turn key on then off in cold start
Funny part is that when Go Mechanic ad came I thought it was a real ad not from yt 😅😂
As per my experience, this due to the quality of engine oil. Ford must have got better engine oil. Did you go for premium full synthetic oil for this trip?

I/ Nexon have seen the worst of roads in this region, no issues.
Maybe because of petrol version.

True that
Quality of engine oil and coolant plays a very important role in these types of temperatures
quality of engine depends on manufacturer

@@crip5992 haan bro yeh bhi ho sakta hai

Just use fully synthetic oil and whenever you go in hilly areas before starting car turn on and off ignition 10-15 times and crank continously it will solve your problems

In - degree, you can put Salt in diesel tank and second, you can use heaters switch 2/3 Times before starting the car
With soo much issue how can you keep your cool like this, you r the man brother... 🔥🔥🔥
Ford is definitely better but ab nahi milega India me. Bulu bhai, Tata diesel mein glow plug heat up karne ke liye ignition on karke wait 10-15 sec karo, aur 3-4 bar repeat karo without pushing to crank. Aise glow plug heat up ho jayega aur less crank me start hoga.
You have Lack of knowledge on how to start a diesel engine and stop unnecessary critising tata. Tera Ford ran away but tata will never leave its customers coz it's apna Indian company.
It seems Sonu managed to start it easily with his magic touch. Diesels need little pampering to start sometimes.

Hi Bulu, there is a specific Engine Oil variant in case you are going to subzero temperatures. It is always recommended to use 0W20 before you start off for a colder destination. Helps in preventing the knocking. Ford may have used the 0w20
Aur karwao go mechanic se service also get ur machines serviced from authorised service centres even after ur car is out of warranty

Deisel freezes . Easy solution put hot water on deisel pump . Ecosport deisel pipes must b better insulated. Happens with all deisel engines. Carry anti freeze deisel additive at below 0 temp
Tata should improve their technical and electrical quality. Of course they make 4 and 5 star car , but poor built quality everywhere
Does patrol engine of Naxon release that much amount of smoke too?
Petrol engine don't have such issues. Because petrol don't freeze like diesel and also petrol has spark plug to create combustion. So clear exhaust. And petrol will start on first crank.

Not to worry abt it, it happens in places like this. Uske bina kya adventure?
Although u can do a thing. keep 1or half lit petrol with u, Anywhr this happens, simply open air intake (post air filter pipe), u can spray small amount of petrol in it, or get wet petrol cloth, and put it there. It starts in 1-2selfs, & saves battery
Perfect bro, it works always. I tried it few times and even seen mechanics do it. Just one has to be cautious while handling.
You should on off ignition atleast 6 to 7 tym so that heater plugs heats the combustion chamber .
Any update you got from service center why cold engine did not start
Ab Comments me Sare Engineers aa jyenge 😂😂😂😂😂
Just one suggestion as i use nexon amt in HP. For every crank in low temps wait until heater ring goes off. That helps in such situation. Frequent cranks wont help. Crank > wait > off > on > waitfor heater ring > try should work always in 2/3 attempts
Looks like tata forgot to put glow plugs in their disel engines
Even my Punto still starts in one self only in these same conditions Fiat solid cars
Always cover your exhaust pipe with a sock orr some cloth when parking in that temperature. Also if u can use car cover that would help if it snows at night...

Yes bro
I’ve driven in these regions many times.. don’t wait when you turn on the ignition.. problem is you’re trying to start a diesel engine like a petrol engine. Turn the key in one go and crank immediately.. the glow bulb turn off when you wait on the ignition that’s why it is taking too much time.. Tata ka sath koi problem nhi h bhai tumhe start krne nhi aa rhi
Get some driving skills first .... don't blame the car build and technology......at freezing cold temperatures first of all use heating plugs multiple time by switching on and off the ignition key for at least 5-6 times......and then try to start the ignition.....but don't leave it as hurry as u were doing....keep holding the ignition key for a few seconds to get the engine proper rotation for start.
Stayed at -8 degree in Kufri. Next day my Jazz was totally covered in snow. It started in one go.
