[ ] Vin plate - check if nuts on the plate. It must not be displaced from its original position.
[ ] Check wear and tear of pedal - within 50k there won't be any wear and tear
[ ] Pedals should not be very new
[ ] Check the ratio, number of years vs running kms - it should be balanced.
[ ] Talk to owner , what is does, who used to drive this car
[ ] Check for chasis number
[ ] Open the bonnet
[ ] check chabi pane marks anywhere.
[ ] See if you see any paint mark, or any bend , any welding .
[ ] Remove the rubber (make sure to check if air bag are not there) and inspect for any welding, or re paint
[ ] Sealant
[ ] On door panels
[ ] Check for sealant on the bonnet
[ ] On bonnet
[ ] Inside engine bay
[ ] Open the door
[ ] Check for bolts on hinges, there should not be any marks- if not, it mean doors were opened
[ ] Engine (diesel)
[ ] Switch on the car, let it run for 5 minutes
[ ] Take out the engine oil dip stick
[ ] See if the engine is not releasing oil droplets or smoke
[ ] For European cars , it's normal
[ ] Now accelerate (Rev only for 2k rpm for 15 sec) and see if that smoke is increasing and oils leaks is also increasing - back compression, meaning your engine is really weak
[ ] Check for unnecessary sounds like clattering , near injectors (only for diseal not petrol)
[ ] Tyres
[ ] Check for the year of manufacturing (see if has changed)
[ ] Tyre generally last for 40k
[ ] Check for marks (year of make) on the glasses (all)
[ ] They all should be same
[ ] Check for under body rust

Thanks for sharing the knowledge, just one little thing, I have an xuv500 2012 model, it's current mileage is more than 85000 kms, i have showed my tires a few times in the company and a few times outside the company and everyone who checks my tires tells me the same thing, that they are good for another 25000-30000 kms. which would mean than my tires would be changed for the first time after buying it in 2012, at a mileage of atleast 110000 kms, so there are always exceptions. I just think it's important to keep in mind.

What Namit bhaiya mentioned about re-touching of the car, if got a small scratch, happened with me. The dealer re-painted the door and gave me in writing that it was done when taking the delivery as it scratched due to his fault. just a friendly advice, you are going to get into some or the other legal trouble if some cop catches you driving single handed. find some point to mount the camera in the car. looks amateurish too driving single handed and recording.
also god forbid you have ever to claim insurance, which has high bills and company finds out you drive single handed, say goodbye to claims..
Yes he catches camera improperly..but every other driver drives single handedly..literally everyone..only new beginners drive with two hand which they are thought in motor training school..rest every trained driver drives single handedly and that too much better
driving single handedly is not the only prob. you have to maintain certain angles while filming, one has to keep looking at the camera and others while driving with one hand can change gears with other hand, he has to change with same hand. this is the same scenario as driving with one hand and talking on mobile with other, both are "potentially" hazardous let alone illegal.

Namit bhai too good. Very informative. Not only what to look but also what to ignore, such as small part repaint from dealer on new car. Which city u r located ? Any contact no.
You can also find some finger prints or little dust inside the odometer glass.
It means the odo is opened and tampered. 👌
B u t what about reading back by using lap top. If back reading isn't possible without opening odo meter then when u drive the car Needle will go smoothly and will not shiver
One small correction in terminology - it is called engine overrun and not overrace.
It is occurs when the fuel/air mixture in the cylinders ignites without a spark. This is known as the dieselling effect because it is caused by the fuel igniting spontaneously in the combustion chambers, which is what occurs (deliberately) in a diesel engine.

After having explained in detail all other aspects before buying second hand vehicle,I think Namit Bhai forgot to inform on odometer tampering. That is how to check the meter which is tampered. Otherwise it was one of best detailed information knowledge on learning to check on second hand cars. Thanks
