I have twice attempted to breed my male betta- a half moon double tail. The first time was with a female half moon double tail and the mail ended up killing her. The second time I removed the female before he could kill her but she was in rough shape. This female was also a half moon but not double tail. I placed in a clear container in the breeding tank the evening before over night he created a small bubble nest so in the morning I released her. Could the male simply be too aggressive? Or could the breeding container be too small and she just couldn’t get far enough away for his liking?

Their natural breeding response is to blow bubble nests under leaves. I find it just helps to give them the idea to get a nest going under the bubble wrap

I have one question. Can you use any kind of leaves?
Safest rule of thumb is any leaves from hardwood trees or fruit trees
When do you start feeding the fry?
as soon as they are free swimming.
When do you remove the male betta from the breeding tank? Is only after all the fries have hatched?
Yes exactly

Good video. I prefer to choose a male (and female) with a smooth torpedo shaped body.
Just be careful especially with long finned bettas a lot of them will get curved bodies over time if you breed out that shoulder strength
@@BlakesAquatics I breed towards show standards. I find caudal peduncle strength is most important.

I have read u can use hard boiled egg yolk for the first 3weeks of the fry’s life and then u can use other food like flakes is this correct?
What purpose do the leaves serves?
Their natural breeding response is to blow bubble nests under leaves. I find it just helps to give them the idea to get a nest going under the bubble wrap

Once the fry are free swimming and 24 hrs from hatching

Nah nothing crazy, i have an oak tree in my front yard so I know theres no chemicals on them, just bag them up and keep them dry thats all
When should we take out the male?
Once the fry are free swimming
So what kind of leaves r ok?
Indian almond, oak, mulberry. Basically any hardwood or fruit tree leaves that have fallen and dried
Awesome video! Just curious, you don’t feed your bettas during this stage do you?
I dont no, it seems to distract them and confuse the process
What is your preferred food and timing of feedings for the fry. What steps do you take to help the grow out to be successful?
For fry i like vinegar eels, twice a day
