    ---------------------
Plot: From acclaimed writer-director Gerard Johnson (Hyena, Tony) comes a psychological thriller that’s dripping in sweat, tears and testosterone… Muscle is the story of Simon (Cavan Clerkin, The Last Kingdom, The Capture) an unhappy, unambitious office worker whose life is gradually taken over by Terry (Craig Fairbrass, Villain, Rise of the Footsoldier) his new, hands-on personal trainer who reveals himself to be more committed, and more dangerous, than Simon could have ever imagined. Simon isn’t living the life he wants. He’s tired of his dead-end job at a call centre - and he isn’t even any good at it. He and his girlfriend are painfully drifting apart, he’s sick of his life and it’s time to make a change and hit the gym. But everything spins out of control when he draws the attention of Terry, who offers to coach him, and quickly becomes his boss, friend and roommate. Soon, Simon finds himself trapped in a self-destructive spiral with every aspect of his life resting in Terry’s hands, and no way out.

Great interview. Gerard is a great director. All 3 of his films so far have been absolutely brilliant. And I'm a long-time fan of his brother Matt's music in The The.

Amazing director, really is, superb film, score, cinematography and casting, believable as a story, very real life people, Hyena is an amazing film as well, I would love some real money go to Gerard to fund a film, he’s real talent, Matts soundtrack is also excellent, again,

Loved Tony (it inspired me and my mate to write a script treatment that never went anywhere but it was fun to do), haven’t seen Hyena yet but will. Muscle is bloody brilliant. It’s got such a dense atmosphere, the acting and characters are great and very true to life and the party scenes are depressing yet sexy at the same time haha.

I think Ross Kemp would've played Terry well.

i guess it s a trick by Gerard, he don t like a catharsis ending, when i watched this movie i was dissapointed, but after time i was thinking again and again about certain scenes (like photos like boxes in the van) and i find answers for myself, i think it s a great job for making a work for ur film analysing and ur attention for rewatching, understatements in movie are the oldest trick but Johnson work great with this trick (i can compare this with endings of early Nicolas Winding Refn's films which inspired Gerard i guess)

if u saw a PUSHER - protogonist have similar situation in the end of the film like protogonist in HYENA, this films became iconic (for me) in many ways because of endings

@@josephmills619 man, MUSCLE can have a cliffhanger too, if u want - Simon have a full of narcs (or unregistered test prop) van, very angry foe and, i guess, some question by the police, he in a full ass bad situation and he will exit New Castle, but maybe all this issues can make Simon a real man like he want (i guess about this speaking a transform scene by The The I WANT 2 B U)

Bits of promise throughout, decent acting from main character.. no conclusion at the end at all other than he got his house back but was robbed. Didnt get the mirror bit in the final scene orher than repeating terrys chant.. The photo revelations and then nothing? A long, and sometimes difficult watch with little reward at the end
