If you add the white sugar in w the peeled bananas first, it will make mashing the bananas so much easier. The sugar crystals help! That’s how I start my banana muffins, been doing it for 30yrs ❤
Kind of like adding salt to the garlic to the pilón when mashing it
I do that too ❌⭕️🙏🏽♥️
Ditto! 👍💕
I've been canning bananas for the past two years now. I chop my bananas using my ninja food pitcher type process thing it holds a couple of quarts of bananas. I put these mashed up bananas into my half pint jars and add a teaspoon of lemon juice to each jar I leave double the head space at least 2 inches and process in the water bath canner for 15 minutes after I reach rolling boil. Everything goes into the canner at room temperature and the water in canner is hot tap water. I make sure everything is good and clean that I use. Do not forget to leave extra head space for the bananas are cooking the whole time the canner is coming up to boil and they expand, like dried beans do. I add no sugar just bananas and lemon juice. We use these in hot oatmeal or in making banana bread. I got tired of running out of fresh bananas so I always have bananas whenever I want them. If I bring my canner up slowly it helps so things don't get expanding like crazy and wanting to cipher, when you try to back it down. I may try to cook them on the stove top next time before I put them in the jars to help with them expanding in the jar, for I have had a couple run over. I liked your video good to see how people are doing bananas not many video on bananas.
So you didn’t need to precook the banana? Just right in the jars and into the bath? And Bob’s your uncle?!? 🫶💕🥳 love when things can be so easy,. And yes the bit of lemon juice,. So just float that on top of the banana? Or mix it in the jar of banana? I would love to know! ❤ thank you for sharing this with us!
I just added the lemon juice to the jar like I do when I am doing tomatoes, everything goes into the jar at room temperature and the water in the boiling water canner is put in from the hot tap water at sink, then I bring to a rolling boil and start the timing at least 15 minutes at that point, it you process it longer it isn't going to hurt it none, it cooks in the jar, oh course you want them to seal, leave a little extra head space like I said for it does expand and I also bring it up to boil in the canner at a slow steady pace not rip roaring, slow and steady wins the race they say, and no broken jars from thing rocking around in the canner.@@area420canada
@@susanreas8356 thank you for sharing this with me. I’m just learning how much I love canning! I’m grateful for your response. 💕🫶😇🙏⭐️🍌
The loyal and honest opinion of your daughter means evevything in your videos ... I would love to see more of her honest opinion in your videos please. It spikes it up
My goodness girl, you always look beautiful. LOL, I'm an old granny, but I do appreciate natural beauty. I wasn't so shabby myself back in the day, but not too old now to appreciate true beauty when I see it.
I've never seen this before!! I'm anxious to hear what "Half Pint"thinks of it!?! Need a video of the day of sampling. I bet it would be awesome on homemade bread or biscuits!❤ water bathed my first batch of carrots 🥕 back in July! I need to pop a jar open to see what they taste like. Still look as good as the day I canned them so that's a good sign!!!!
Oh my gosh! I can't wait to make this recipe. Thank you so much for sharing.
I just canned eggs based off your water bath method. There are too few women that care about this stuff. I appreciate you doing it old school and ignoring the USDA or at least acknowledging pressure canning is not the only route to success. I was giving away a dozen eggs from my chickens at least once a week before canning.
Out of the mouths of babes! 😂 She's adorable and momma I love how she's right there learning and having fun! ❤
Your daughter is so adorable, and I love the nickname; I would call mine short round. Well, yet another "butter" recipe to add to my collection. I'll be trying this one in the near future. Thank you.
Bananas and Pecans....what's not to love! It did look like apple butter. Really want to see how it turned out! Cheers to y'all!
This is on the Christmas present list!! Thank you for being you!!❣ Blessings to you!
I have been canning banana bread butter for years but I use Black walnuts in mine to go with My Black walnut banana bread. It's rich but oh so good
you should try making oatmeal cookies with this banana butter..
Banana butter is so good. I was a bit surprised with the amount of sugar also, so I cut out the white sugar and just used brown. And my family doesn't like nuts in anything so I omitted that as well. Yours was so pretty. I put a dollop in plain yogurt, so good!
Also, I make my butters sugar free. If needed, we add a little sweetener when we open a jar, because we are diabetic. So far Apple hasn't needed sweetener, but pear needed a little
Nice. I wanted sugar free also
Very cool :)
You daughter is so sweet ! And funny 😆
I would love to this recipe. I heard some people make monkey butter and they add coconut also.
I've never heard of this!! Care to share your recipe!!?❤😮
reminds me of when I make pumpkin butter or apple butter. though I don't add roasted pecans! That sounds yum! may do that in the future.
I would leave out the white sugar. Would be good on a peanut butter sandwich
Thanks for sharing. Looks yummy. You made it and canned it but didn't taste it. Hope it turns out OK.
Put on pancakes or waffles. Yum
I made this from your recipe and it came out great!
Jars should be on a rack inside the canner.
I made monkey butter it’s bananas pineapple and coconut with white sugar and lemon juice
😂😂😂😂 I love your little taste tester!!!! Her honesty is refreshing!!! Gotta love kids!😂😂😂😂
OK, you absolutely need to do an update on this one once you have opened a jar! I am very interested to see how this jar of sugar oh oops, I mean bananas tastes!! Lol Also, I couldn't help but notice your dog seems to be limping and was holding it's front right paw up. What happened? Very cute dog by the way! Thanks so very much for the video!!!
Thank you for all your videos! I have always wanted to learn how to can. I was gifted from my parent’s friend, canning jars and all the canning things and water bath pots. I found your channel and you motivated me and inspired me to continue to water bath and not worry about pressure, canning and going out and buying a pressure canner. As you have said before people of been water bathing for decades, and I have read and heard other countries, they don’t even know what a pressure canner is :-) since last year finding your channel, I can at least one thing a month. Today was our potato harvest, and some organic carrots I found on sale at the store.❤❤❤❤❤
That looks and sounds amazing. I’m currently making banana/ pear wine and banana vinegar. The funny thing is I don’t consume alcohol but I do give it to people that do. Thanks for sharing! BTW - truth comes from the mouth of babes. (Thanks half pint! Lol)
Banana vinegar is wonderful.
❤ totally have to make this!!!
Save those peels - dry them out - powder them up in the processor and use them in your garden you will be happy you did.
Pancakes, waffles, and crepes.
Those look beautiful!
Thank you for sharing This looks delish
Hello friend🥰, you’re beautiful. Thank you for another great video👍
Super excited to try this recipe! we have a ton of bananas in the freezer. They ripen really fast that our house and sometimes we can’t get through them fast enough. so, we peel them and put them in the freezer because we don’t wanna waste them, but we’ve never really had a good recipe for them, looking forward to this one!
Stirring it now.
It was a hit. Family loved it this morning on pancakes and toast!
yet another wonderful video! thank you for sharing these lovely recipes with us every week. super off topic... but I reeaallyyyy like your heart earrings!
Wow, this was totally awesome and I love this idea….banana bread spread yummy!
Oh I've never heard of this before I bet it's amazing looks very yummy
I've been curious to try this one! That sounds like it would be really good in oatmeal! I do t think I would like the banana chunks either, but i love pecan bits, so i may have to try this and just use the immersion blender before i add the pecans. By the way, your hair is absolutely gorgeous! 💜 My hair is waist length and super thick, so i have yet to find a claw clip to hold mine up like that, but i just had to tell you how stunning your hair is!
Oh this looks so yummy!! I think it's a good idea to put in oatmeal too. Can't wait to try this. It would make nice gifts too 💕
We call it banana nut butter my wife has been making it for years definitely delicious real good on vanilla ice cream
Great video and Im going to try this!.. You are your daughter are just adorable!
Definitely. Making this. Ty for your videos!! Gives me more confidence in my canning skills 😁
Im going to try this and kids and their " honest opinions" gotta love em !!!
Loved this video. You share wonderful recipes and skills. Thank you! Val C ❤️🙏🏻
Mark it with a B. Put it on the shelf for you and me❤
First thing l thought of was a topping for pancakes & ice cream sunday's!! Sounds so good & how awesome is it to make shelf stable bananas! Thank you!
I live watching you and your cooking, canning ,etc I often wondered if you were in PA or Ohio. Of course,i never looked in your bio to see until today,to look at the banana recipe and saw PA .
You are looking phenomenal and your content presentation instructions are so spot on. Your confidence has surely “waxed strong” and I’m so happy for you as your subscribers have grown. You will get to 100K soon and double it. Don’t give up as you have what it takes. Your strategy to bring other good recipes into your channel is strong as we all want to know the best and the brightest. I just search on you with a subject and bingo, if you did it I trust it.
It’s been a great canning year for us as we close in on 600 jars in the pantry with 300 done this summer. My tomatoes were off the hook here on a Nordic Ski Resort here in Utah zone 6 at 7,000 ft. My quail, chickens and bees doing great so thank you for your inspirational channel. I’m so happy you are posting more as you just keep rockin. We are all interested. You incorporating your family is a great move. You did it girl.
Never thought of doing this with banana's. Looks good though! I chuckled at the apple butter story....good video!
Very nice recipe I will most definitely try this......p.s. I'm not aware of bad apple butter...lol....great video🙂
Good to see your face pretty lady🤗
Good to see young women canning like this, even better when they make it work with a learning video for those who want to, and don't know how. Bless your Hands. I've been doing it for 6 decades now. I've opened so many jars of foods I canned 5 years after canning them (water bath method only), and they taste as good as the day I made them, especially the preserves. I can usually keep them that long, but try not to push it past that mark very often. Usually we eat what I have canned within 3 years time, since I bulk can like you do. I haven't canned meats though, my great grandmother and grandmother never did, so I just don't either. The thought has come to mind to try it though, maybe sometime next year. Great video as usual.
I mark everything with a sharpe marker on the lid. I love apple butter in oatmeal
Hi,. I just found your channel. I was looking for a banana canning with hot water,. I’m 53, my grandmother had canned rhubarb and banana combo. I remember eating it for breakfast with some toast. I would say the shelf life is over a year for sure! And boy howdy was it sweet and sour lol 😂 I would love to have a jar right now! I hope this helps you learn more about the shelf life of banana 🍌 canning,. I’m still well alive after eating it as a kid. And I know we ate that stuff a few years. Grandma was a mad canning machine! 😜🫶💕
I have bananas canned up in punts for banana bread later. I had too many in the freezer, lol. I have made apple and pear butter, never thought about bananas butter...it's now on my list
It looks very interesting. I hope you make a video and give us your opinion when you do the taste test.
This looks great I would say 1 Years time for a dark pantry !!! What do you think??? I freeze the bananas when they get ripe in the house now as I use 1 banana with 1/2 cup of apple sauce for 6 muffins for myself !!! I would be with you on this banana butter for toast waffles even grits for myself !!! Got to have a banana 1 of them a day it is something I would try!!!
Oh my goodness! I call my great neice( now in her mid 20s) half pint just like Laura on little house.
you are more beautiful every time😊
I love this! 💞🥰 You’re so wonderful to listen to, and, learn from. 😉 I just did my Zuppa replacing pork, with turkey bacon, and, turkey sausage… it turned out amazing… I’m doing more today…🥰I have a question… I bet everyone here knows already, 🤭💞… but, can I just do this with a little sugar, lemon juice, and, vanilla, boil it, then jar it? I’m looking for the baby food type bananas in a jar … ? Thank you 🙏🏼
❤ Good afternoon Mamacita Linda how are you today? I pray you’re doing good. I never thought I’d see anybody else do canned Bananas… I have been making them all my life just about I started when I was 14 years old when they used to sell the big O boxes for bananas come in for five dollars at the supermarket where I live in south Texas. For many many many many years I’ve been doing them and they are so good. Banana butter is very good. I also used to make banana, baby foods, applesauce, peach sauce, peach butter, pumpkin butter, apple butter, your name it I’ve done it all by then who wouldn’t at my age I love your show Mamacita Linda I love your program I called you to show, because that’s what it reminds me as as if I was watching a show. I have a RUclips channel myself. I have an uploaded much. I don’t know how to upload my videos. My son has not taken the time to show me yet and he will be going to college pretty soon. He has been admitted to Saint Mary school of Law in San Antonio, Texas, I love him very much. I will miss him very much. Yes he is 18 years old but that’s life. Don’t stop. Don’t stop making your videos. They are very nice and entertaining. I love them. God bless you Miha.❤😅
Would like to know exactly how you have canned your bananas. Is it one particular recipe, or several different ways. Please elaborate. Thank you in advance.
💯💯💯👍👍👍
You can make banana bread with it also, almost like premade ingredients, its awesome
Just a thought..place a cotton face cloth on bottom of pot to keep the jars from making a bit less noise and in some cases saves the jars from breaking...
That looks amazing! I can imagine how great it tastes and what a great way to use bananas that are ripe! I have a question! Do you have a water bath recipe for onions? I've been searching on RUclips and am having a hard time finding one 😢
Hi, I just want to tell you how much I enjoy your RUclips posts. I am surprised that you do not label and date your jars. All the other RUclipsrs can't express enough to label and date your jars. I am just starting to can and I have lost at least one or two jars that do not seal. I ordered some forjars lids a couple of weeks ago but I can't wait on them to can my stuff so I am using the lids that come with the jars. I hope you keep posting because I really enjoy them.
Welcome to canning! It's a lot of work, but so rewarding!
The choice of labelling comes down to how organized your pantry is. I've known some old ladies who run their kitchens with military precision, and whose pantries are better organized than anything I could hope to achieve. Since they always know where everything is, according to contents and when the jars were canned, they never need to label.
In other pantries, where stuff gets shuffled around to make room, and contents are always coming and going, labels are a necessity. This is especially true if (like me) a person does a lot of similar-looking products.
For example: I no longer bother to date my stuff - my lowest shelf is new products, top shelf is oldest; each year, I cycle them upward. This gives me a chance to inspect the jars for rust, lost seals (none so far, but it never hurts to be diligent) and so far. Anything that's starting to rust around the edges, and anything left on the top shelf goes into the kitchen cupboard for use as soon as practicable.
That said, I do a ton of similar-looking reddish-purple jams. Saskatoon berries, mulberries and wild grapes are all plentiful in my area, so into the pantry they go! Of course, it wouldn't be the end of the world if I brought out a wild grape jam for tarts instead of a mulberry - but I'd hate to mistake it for puréed beets. 😅 Same goes for beef vs. goat vs. venison, different-flavoured pickles or recipes with different types of seasoning. If the zombie apocalypse happens, and the world runs out of jar labels and markable tape, I'm sure I could get by, but I like the convenience of knowing instantly what's on-hand.
PS: Don't worry about lost seals; it happens to the best of us on occasion. Just make sure to be diligent in inspecting the tops of your jars for chips, wiping them clean after adding the contents (even tiny irregularities on the jar rim can sometimes prevent a seal), and adding adequate headspace (the space is what creates a vacuum in the jar, and suctions the lid down tight - and, in some cases, prevents the contents from bubbling up and getting the aforementioned food particles between the rim and lid). Those three points go a long, long way toward preventing jars from sealing. Hope this helps!
i bet a good old hand mixer would beat those bananas up quick?
like banana candy!
When I’m making banana cake, I cut the bananas in small pieces as I peel them. This makes it easier to mash them. 🍌🍌🍌🍰
I can only imagine what this would be like on a CHOCOLATE PIE! 😮(or chocolate or vanilla cake) just sayin...😁
I would like if you try didn't give us a review on it because I'm not a big banana person but it looks easy enough to make
I love your channel….I’m wondering I have an apple tree and would like to preserve raw apple juice…how would the Amish preserve long term fresh squeezed raw apple juice? Can I pour this in a clean. Mason jar and remove the air with the food saver accessory for mason jars and store on shelf? Or do I need to cook and water bath?
I have made banana rum raisin jam. It was okay on oatmeal, but better on ice cream.
There’s a recipe in the Ball book for banana butter but it doesn’t turn out dark. Might try both and compare!
What about using the butter over Neapolitan ice cream to make a modified banana split?
I thought that putting something on the bottom of a pot while doing water baths prevented the glass jars from busting. Is that not a thing? Only curious because if I can fit more jars in my pot without the towelettes or basket at the bottom... Game On!!
I would use brown sugar b
Monk fruit, and maybe raw sugar
I’ve done some reading on canning baby food, but everything I’ve read says not to… One of the things I wanted to can was bananas, what do you think? I want my baby to eat food without toxic stuff. Send help ❤
Interesting. I would bet you should be able to do it like apple or pear or whatever butter which doesn’t need all the added sugar.
Sounds delicious on oatmeal. Please have your daughter do a taste test, if she would like to.
Yes!!! Something to do with those bananas!!! I can only eat so much banana bread and then no more.
Your sweet pup has a hurt foot....
Yes, she was born that way.
Pancakes
Add to pan cakes
❤ Thank you! What is the shelf life?
Let me know how this tastes, I just might have to give it a try.
Maybe in waffles and pancakes?
The monkey butter I make I have keep for a year but I think it would have lasted longer just we ate before
Am I seeing correctly - no rack inside your canner? And clearly no breakage.
Put between cake layers, for european style cakes.
Haven't found your rack for the bottom of the pan yet?😉
How do you can eggs? First time I heard this was possible.
HELP 😮 HELP 😮 HELP😮 the 🐶 DOG @9:44.
That poor little K9 has a definite injured RIGHT FOOT🦶!
Did someone accidentally step on her paw? Get her/him to the Vet TUIT SUITE Mon Amie!
I got chills so bad seeing her limp, I couldn’t watch the Rest of the video which looks amazing.
Can this be made in smaller batches?
I noticed that you do not cut out the bruised and “bad” parts of the bananas. Why not? Thanks
If someone is on a sugar-free diet can you replace the sugar with honey and maple syrup?
I wonder if the banana butter can be used as a banana bread ingredient …
Chop up ur banana peel use a fertiliser just sprinkle around plants
would that be 10 mins for us in the uk if we make this
Yes.
