the fact that you're in Ontario Canada makes this whole process for me so much easier. I live in Ottawa, and I want to be a plumber so badly. I'm currently a chef, and I want to get into the plumbing trade. thank you so much for every video you put out, especially all of these ones!
Jake I appreciate all the support you’ve been giving me brother and I hope you reach your goal of becoming a plumber! Let me know how progress is going brother!
Kenny Molotov I absolutely will! I have a good full time job right now as a kitchen manager which is what I’ve gone to school for before. I have a contact in the insulation trade who might know a plumber who needs a hand out here in Ottawa. Thank you so much for all the awesome videos! They’re very inspiring
@@Kennymolotov I want to be a good plumber too i love plumbling work .. how can i come over to were u reside ?

Really glad to hear it helped Ryan! Keep me posted on your progress!
This video has helped me massively, I'm very thankful you made this, all the other guys just say "go to the company, or the union" you really went in depth. Thank you for this. You earned another sub!
Thanks Caleb, glad the video was useful. Please let me know how this advise pans out for you and how the journey is going. Cheers!
Thanks so much Kenny, you are the best. Gracias
Glad it helps!
Thank you for simplifying everything for the fellow Ontarians!!!
Glad it was useful!
Thanks man. I didn't know it could take months to find a job. I thought the trades were in huge demand. I'm going to start my application journey soon
Good video Kenny & merry Christmas
😂thanks Louie! I made this video ages ago and only now did I publish it!

I know you were Louie! 😂 thanks again brother! Have a great weekend!
Awesome info man. Texas is very similar but either ur a license plumber or you're a handy man
Thanks Keri!
Hi I have experience outside canada .can i use against my mandatory hours?
I currently work as a chef, I want to change careers and eventually work as a licensed plumber. This video helps me out so much as I hadn’t a clue as to where I should start or what I need to do to get myself started ☺️ Thank you for the guidance!
Really happy to hear the content was useful to you! If you follow these steps they should lead you in the direction you need friend! Please keep me posted on your progress and don’t get discouraged! All worthwhile pursuits are very difficult!
Hello, Kenny! Thanks for the detailed information! Do these routes work only for citizens or for non-citizens too? I am a non-citizen and am planning to come to Ontario from overseas and begin training to become a plumber. Since I plan to come to Ontario on a student visa, I need to go to Humber College and become a licensed plumber. Is it right for me, as a non-citizen, to become a licensed plumber and remain in Canada? I apologize for the very big question.
Hi Kenny I have experience outside Canada and i really want to have Canada experience how do I go about it
As always great info.
Hey Kenny, I'm planning to move back to Toronto GTA as a 5th yr Plumber apprentice. My question for you is it hard to get a plumbing job? I know theres tons of condo construction going on. I currently live in fort McMurray Alberta and it's really slow here.
Thanks
Thanks Dave!
Hey Adam, I would say being a 5th year apprentice should give you a strong advantage to getting jobs, because most companies are looking for experienced workers. But I really don’t know how difficult it would be for you to find a job unfortunately. Maybe you should start sending out resumes to companies and unions before moving? That might be worth a try?
@@Kennymolotov thanks for the info. Late last year I did send out resumes to test the market and did get some replies.
Awesome, try it out again, it might be useful!
hi kenny i live in canada toronto thanks for sharing your video do you have any other video that explains how to do a plumbing job estimate how to price
Thanks for the idea friend, I’ll see if I can make a video on that!
omg thank you so much. The only video that made any sense to me was yours. Just a couple questions, how do you contact colleges/unions for the schooling part of the apprenticeship? And should I ask for a licensed plumber to follow or will I be taught by a licensed plumber anyways?
Hi Abbie, glad the video was helpful. You will be registered as an apprentice only if there is a licensed plumber with no current registered apprentice. And in Ontario the city sends you an invitation to go to school each time (basic, intermediate, and advanced) after you register with the city as an official apprentices. I hope this makes sense, please let me know if you need further clarification!
@@Kennymolotov thanks again, that was exactly what I needed to know!
Glad to hear, thanks Abbie 🙏
@@Kennymolotov Hi Kenny, hoping you could help. I am currently enrolled to do a pre-apprenticeship plumbing program at either Sheridan or Humber college. I am also currently looking for someone to take me on to potentially get my hands dirty and skip out on taking the course. In your opinion, for someone with virtually 0 knowledge about the trade which route would be best? Which setting would be best to learn the basics in? Also if i get taken on as a “first year apprentice” say without the program, would I be an apprentice without a licensed plumber? So my work hours are still recognized as hours in the field however not towards the 9000hours needed to become registered until a licensed plumber takes me on? I hope that made sense and i hope you can help. Thank you Kenny!
Kenny please respond to that ^ a lot of ppl are in this same position
Good information
Thanks for the support!
What if you already have plumbing knowledge from previous jobs?
Called well over 100 business's local to me NOTHING, i came close a few times but it was always " we just put someone on" or "not atm but possibly in the future. I know its a numbers game but man its defeating
Nic! Keep plugging away at this my friend. Remember, if you knock on enough doors eventually somebody will say yes! Keep it up!
Hey, did you end up Finding one?
@@rudy478 nah , I actually ended up starting a lawn care business. So glad I did
Hi
Thanks for video. Question: Do the plumbing company that i have the apprenticeship program signed with sends me to school for the basic, interm, and advance courses? and if they do when do they sand me to do the course? and what school? Do they pay for it or i do? How much approx?
U said is 8 weeks for 3 of them so roughly 2 week in school for each course right?
P.S what school for pre-apprenticeship plumbing program would u recommend?
Thx once again.
Hi Tommy try this video it should explain it all. Msg me if you have any further questions. ruclips.net/video/3ouUBjk0hGk/видео.html
hi i did. my interview and got an apprenticeship with starting pay $18.20 and keep in mind i have not had any experience as i worked retail and im only 19 nor did i take any courses. i just followed these tips and now i’m starting on oct 3rd :) just one question i recently taken marijuana (im legal age here in bc and never took it during school or underage i have perfect driving record and no charges against me) i was wondering if they will drug test me on my first day or before i start working and since it’s legal here in canada idk if jobs are still caring. The drug test also wasn’t in the work policy handbook they sent me so idk if they are still allowed to do so. I would never smoke before or during work hours and im not a frequent user at all i’ve only smoked 3-4 times in the last 6 months but i’ve partaken few days ago before i got the call for the interview. So my question is if they companies will drug test before u start working. please answer soon
How'd that work out?
how did this job work out for you?
Hi. Do I need to be licensed in ontario Canada to work on small projects like replace toilets, replace kitchen/bathroom sink drains and snake drains. Like mostly work on residential drains. I'm a 2nd year apprentice and work with a company but I like to take on side jobs.
Some companies like condominiums will ask you for your license before you start working. They won’t hire plumbers unless they are licensed. But some families do not ask for the license to work on their homes.
I have to go to a trade school ? or college? to first start out plumbing or can I just apply to open shop and they train me
You can just apply to companies Sam. But here is a video explaining some stuff ruclips.net/video/Ttjo0-md2Dw/видео.html
currently in the military, and soon to transition out. I can't stress enough how hard it is to get in. I have 0 experience in plumbing and have been denied by every company I've applied for. Idk what it is but won't stop
Best of luck friend! Keep knocking on doors and eventually one will open! Keep me posted on your progress!
I want to come in canada i have clear iti of plumber in india and having 1 year experience . Do i need to clear ielts exam?
Hi sir .. I'm srilankan I can get plumber working visa .. with Srilanka plumber licance
Do you find it hard to get your foot in the door Kenny? I always hear that they need skilled trade workers in Canada. Will I ever have a chance?
You will definitely have a chance Nenad. You just need to put in the work to make it happen, and after knocking on enough doors eventually you will find a place to start. Hope this helps.
Great video, I'm 43 and considering becoming a plumber. Would I be considered too old now? Thanks
Hey Andrew, I don’t think you would be considered old at all. I did a video about this that you should check out ruclips.net/video/GNPxrWVSg74/видео.html I hope this answers your question. Let me know what you decide!
Do you have any thoughts on how the removal of the Ontario college of trades will affect new apprentices? I've read flooding of new people could lead to unsafe job sites and lower wages for new licensed plumbers. Hoping that's not the case.
Hey Leah, this is a great question. I’m thinking of actually sitting down and shooting a video about this topic. Thanks for bringing it up and for the support, I will be in touch when the video is going live! Cheers!
@@Kennymolotov that would be awesome! Your videos are great and very informative, thank you.
Thanks Leah! Have a great weekend!
Hi Kenny!! Im 17 years old, Grade 11 student in Manitoba. I dont know what classes should I take (ex: Math essentials/pre cal). Could you please give me advices for me??
Hey I assume you’re asking what you should take to go into plumbing? The most important is to get your high school diploma. Math would be useful, as would English. You will need to be able to read and understand as well as compute for the plumbing program. I hope this helps.
So I dont need any science courses(ex: physics, bio)?
After I graduate what next steps do i have to do?
Sorry I got a lot of question cuz I came from the Philippines. I dont know how things work here. Sorry.
What’s the different between pre apprentice and plumbing techqniques program? As a newbie . Can I go for plumbing techniques? Also do I have to register with the board before started a job as an apprentice
From what I understand Jannelle a pre-apprentice and plumbing techniques courses are both pre-apprenticeship (it’s best if you double check that with the school you’re looking at). If you are not a registered apprentice you can take a pre-apprenticeship course. You have to register with the city as an official apprentice before going through your apprenticeship. Hope this helps!
To become a licensed plumber in ontario do i have to take the college training first?
No you don’t. You can get hired on as an apprentice then sign a contract and go to school for eight weeks every year once you get the total hours in for every level.
From Toronto and can't even get a interview even after I finished my pre-apprenticeship program. I did what you said in the video and I just get told that they'll get back to me but there never do. If you're asking if I followed up afterwards when they didn't get back to me, I did and they just said the same thing. I though it was my resume but I've gone over it dozens of times, am I doing something wrong? Would really appreciate if you could give me any other tips or advice.
Kevin I would say it might be time to start approaching the companies in person. See if you can show up to the shops with pliers and screwdrivers in your pocket and see if that will help. You might have to go early in the morning when they open up. Also did you try applying to unions? That might be worth it as well. Let me know how it goes!
Hey Kevin, I’m in the same boat. Any luck ?
@@rudy478 Kind of, I got 2 offers for a working at 2 local plumbing companies but they both pulled the same trick. Job post said 1st year apprentice and would register new apprentices but when I got to the interview is was to do all the laboring work. Both also said that I would be able to record my hours so when I did get registered I could use them so I don't start at the very beginning. This was a lie cuz you have to work with a journey man in order to use those hours for your apprenticeship and also a journey man can only have one apprentice working under him, no labor workers. I know this cuz I looked it up and my former teacher and GBC Rainier Blundell told me this when I asked him what I should look out for in the job market cuz I don't have any connections in the plumbing world. And yes I asked if he could help me out in this situation and all the people that he would of been able to source out to me are rather working as a teacher or retired.
I've got 6 months experience but had to leave due to financial reasons. Really trying to get back in. I almost got enough to get my tradesman but all I get is no. Any suggestions?
Hey Ben, keep knocking on doors friend. You have to be more persistent than the amount of people that say “no”. And if you do this, then at some point you’ll meet someone that says “yes”! Best of luck and let me know how progress is going!
I’m 17 just turning 18 almost done high school with grade 11 math and grade 12 English I’m from Toronto I really want to become a plumber
Hey Chris! Thanks for supporting the channel! And follow your dreams! The trades are a great way to work and make money. Let me know how your progress is going!
I just got signed up for my apprenticeship. I had a quick question what does the sponsor number mean? My company gave me it to put into the website.
The company that is signing you up is considered your sponsor. So I think it’s a number assigned to them so that the company can be tracked by skilled trades Ontario. Get another opinion on this if you can, I might be wrong.
@@Kennymolotov Have you ever heard of JMR Electric LTD?
Always 2 there are, a master and an apprentice. Lol 🙂
How am I supposed to find their email
What do you do if they ask for a resume but you have no experience in the plumbing trade? But want to break into it?
Gavin you hand in a resume with all your previous experience. Remember a lot of people come into the trade totally green. You will not be the first or last person like this.
Anyone can help me i need plumbing job
Are you also inspired by Johnny????
I just seen an ad about fires burning down a forest... Do you have something to get off your chest Kenny... Molotov!
😂
I’m 32 years old? Is it too late to become a plumber?
Hey not at all! Check out my video about this ruclips.net/video/GNPxrWVSg74/видео.html
But, how will I know if the licensed plumber will take me on? You will know, my son, when he tries to kill you.
How much do you get paid when you’re an apprentice
