Tony and Justin got together to talk about 007's first post cold war 90's adventure, Goldeneye! In this movie review/podcast of Goldeneye they will talk about all the things that make it awesome! Like the thrilling tank chase in Russia, the new edgier James Bond, and how it inspired an even more awesome video game!
When a powerful satellite system falls into the hands of Alec Trevelyan, AKA Agent 006 (Sean Bean), a former ally-turned-enemy, only James Bond (Pierce Brosnan) can save the world from an awesome space weapon that -- in one short pulse -- could destroy the earth! As Bond squares off against his former compatriot, he also battles Trevelyan's stunning ally, Xenia Onatopp (Famke Janssen), an assassin who uses pleasure as her ultimate weapon.

I remember taking my dad to see Goldeneye in the theater in 1995. He saw every oo7 movie in the cinema and he approved of Pierce Brosnan. The tank chase through the city and the fight on the satellite were fantastic.

I disagree, Eric Serra deserves credit for a really cool and unique Bond soundtrack. It really makes a difference. Plus the N64 game took a lot of cues from it.

I really love the sponsored promo bits that RUclipsrs have been doing lately. Reminds me of old TV from the 50s where the host of the show would speak about the sponsorship products. You guys are getting more creative with them also. Love it
Pierce Brosnan really shined as 007 in goldeneye, i remembered seeing this in theaters and it was my first pg-13 movie.
Little fun fact originally Timothy Dalton was going to play in this film before Pierce, but he didn't want to be stereo typed like Sir Sean Connery and Sir Rodger Moore (Rest in Peace, best bonds.)

My friends and I played the N64 GoldenEye to no end. My buddy had a kick ass sound system back in the day and one night during a GoldenEye tournament the cops showed up cuz the neighbors called them because they thought a gang war was going down

DK Mode did indeed have a big head and big arms. Because Goldeneye 64 was made by Rare, the people behind Donkey Kong, hence DK Mode.
I used to love this movie. Mostly because the game was so immersive, but also because it was pretty action packed for the time.
The Hydra makes me think of the 1970's Invasion of the Body Snatchers, when they do the creepy effect of the dog with the human face.
The more I watch these most recent episodes, the more I am loving Jessica's comments :) This one made me laught out loud.

@@solidsnake3962 I think they should oh and Martin Campbell also directed the sequel The legend of Zorro and I own both of those movies on DVD and VHS and my favorite part of the sequel is the train fight and train chase scene🚂🐎
This is my fifth favorite Bond film. Top 2 are both Dalton's, he's my favorite and always will be.
Loved Goldeneye and its intro (N64's best! Btw). Also Garbage's "The World is not enough".
Garbage did such a great job, Shirley Manson was top tier at the time. Do not listen to the new album, last good song was "not your kind of people." Prob there best song ever most folk.know it from the first mgs5 phantom pain trailer, besides the one for this movie, and number 1 crush (put that on with a woman who was a former goth in there teen years who's an 89 into early 90s baby while chilling....that freak comes out quick 😂 also Jewish females for some reason....in general tho not even related to what I'm saying but some one has to say it) It's fun being barley 32 with adult money (September.) 😂😂😂😂😂😂😭😢😢 why do I like crazy mixed girls someone help me....!!!!

I thought the reason they wanted the tiger helicopter was because it had technology that made it resistant to EMP blasts. At least this is my childhood recollection of why they needed the helicopter!

I might be a man on an island here but the only two James Bond themes I love are “The World is Not Enough” by Garbage and the theme song for the video game “Everything or Nothing” on the PlayStation 2 that was performed by Mya.
The world is not enough is the best James Bond song, followed by Live or let die.

Yeah, my mom would watch Golden Girls all the time when I was like, 8. I think when there’s a movie your dad loves, or a T.V. Show that your mom use to binge, something resonates.

Second favorite Bond film at that time. First ever DVD that I bought which Still have to this day.
Edit 2 years later on a random rewatch- The fact that he was up against 006 was given away in the very 1st trailer. It's stated by the narrator and showed him revealing himself to James.
Thinking back on it, 90s trailers loved giving away the entire movie.

Use to watch Bond movies all the time on TBS around Thanksgiving or christmas. Never really payed attention to them until i watched this one.

Every time Justin is right with what is going on in the plot, and Tony almost gaslights him when not remembering makes me laugh every time.

It was not until today that I realized that Hack the Movies has the same initials as Hentai Tentacle Monster.
Pretty sure the entire cast rubs one out to hentai….not together but you know they are all freaks….especially Newt.

This was my first James Bond film, and it's still my absolute favorite.
The wine chill thing is normal for a lot of vehicles even VW does that

commanders and admirals are both naval ranks. commanders are considered a senior officer but not so much a career rank whereas an admiral is a flag officer who borders on being a politician. and the naval equivalent of an army captain is a lieutenant and the army equivalent of a navy captain is a colonel. both cpts and col are the most senior officers without becoming a general/admiral.
Golden Girls was a great show, watched it all the time growing up and I'm about the same age as you Tony.
one of the best Bonds and NOT based on a book or story by Ian Flemming, just the name is taken from his resort. Great film in general
This is kind of a random request, but have any of the hosts @HackTheMovies ever thought about creating a separate channel or podcast that does episode by episode breakdowns and reviews of the Spawn Animated Series that was on HBO in the 90’s? They keep talking about wanting to review the movie but I feel like the show would be a much more interesting subject matter. And some of these hosts are young enough to the point where they might not have even seen the show before, so it would be interesting to get their reactions.
I'd be down to review the series here. I've watched it many times.

My favourite bond film. Watched it with my dad at the cinema Christmas 1995, it was amazing. It still holds up well as there was not much CGI, some but not much. The satellite is no longer with us so it captures that moment in time and the fact it was real and some model shots. The only bit I ever hated was when he sky dived into the plane at the start.

Even although Sean Connery is Scottish Scotland is a part of the UK which makes him British.
Also James Bond is Scottish.
And Timothy Dalton was Welsh which is also part of Britian.

Good movie review, but was made angry by Tony & Justin incorrectly labelling English accents as British, and incorrectly not identifying Connery and Dalton as British.
