    I have had one in a large pot for lack of a better place to put it (my soil is absolute trash), and it has unexpectedly done very, very well for more than 5 years now. I especially love to watch the bumblebees gathering the nectar. They sort of hang off the end of the flower and just go to town! One of my favorite plants, ever.

    I was raised calling it "lady in the bath," too! My grandmother had one in Montana and now I have one in Virginia. I think of her every time I look at it. Thanks for your video!

    Wonderful story about your Grandmother's "Lady in the bath". I hope my two sons inherit a love of gardening from me as well.

      Yes, and amazingly it tends to be later at going into summer dormancy too, so the display last longer.

    My Irish grandfather always called it "Lady in the Bath." I thought that was just his name for it (used to entertain us kids). Now I know. Thank you

    Just moved into this old house and the Alba bleeding heart is the nicest thing in the garden. Is it supposed to divide and grow, or grow bigger?

    • @Gardensplendor
      @Gardensplendor  7 лет назад +4

      Yes, it is a really lovely plant and remarkably long lived too - I've seen old home sites where the house is derelict (place is deserted, roof fallen in etc.), the garden is overgrown with brambles & weeds and guess what is cheerily coming up among them? So glad you will be able to enjoy it for many years.

    Something has chewed up all the leaves and flowers of my bleeding heart plant that was thriving in a pot... what could it be ? :( Help!!!

    • @Gardensplendor
      @Gardensplendor  5 лет назад +1

      I am a little surprised to hear something is browsing on your plant. Bleeding Hearts are normally left alone by most animals. If the problem persists, you might try sprinkling over the foliage that tastes foul or place alight net over the plant at night or when you are not around. You can also get animal repellents at your favorite garden center. The nice thing about these Bleeding Hearts is that they are very resilient and you should see fresh new growth sprouting up from the base.
